Weekly Run Down Cherry Blossom Week

Thanks for joining Kim and Me for the weekly run down today. Hey, guess what? KIm and I are actually together today! I’ve had both Kim and Cari staying with me this weekend for the Cherry Blossom race in Washington, DC. What a fun weekend with them! Here is a peak into my week of fitness and fun.

Weekly Run Down

Sunday- 3 mile run + stretching

It might have been freezing in hell today LOL My husband agreed to come out for a run with me. After getting cleared from my Dr to do short runs, I was still a little nervous. My husband just started running again a few weeks ago after about a 10 year hiatus. He agree to come out with me. It was fun and it felt great to get out there after 10 days of no running.

Weekly run down

Monday- tread walk + core + upper body strength and stretch

Feeling a lot like my normal workout and back to heavy weights.

Tuesday- 3.5 mile run 🏃‍♀️😍 + stretch and mobility

Yay! I ran with my squad today. My Dr. gave me the ok to run 3-4 miles at an easy pace. I felt just fine and had to slow myself down a few times. We’ll call that a win.

Weekly run down

Wednesday- core + barre + warm up walk + lower body strength + Peloton cycle + stretch

You all know I am not a treadmill fan for runs, however, I am loving a warm up walk on the tread before strength. I got in a great mix of strength and cardio today.

Weekly run down

Thursday- 3.5 mile run + stretch + afternoon walk

I have a little more leeway on the HR now but I am trying to keep it around 140 bpm. This meant that I needed to stop for walk breaks anytime my pace got below 10 mm. I was really just happy to be running with my friends and they were very accommodating to my pace.

Weekly run down cherry blossoms

Friday- morning walk + Segway tour of DC

It was a busy day! I picked up Kim at the airport and we headed over to the monuments so she could do a short run. I did a Peloton power walk. After lunch, we took a Segway tour of the DC monuments. Even though I live here, there is always something to learn and something new to see. You can catch our whole escapade on IG.

Weekly run down

We met up with Cari later at the expo for the Cherry Blossom. That evening, we all had dinner with Deb and Coco. It was an epic blogger meetup for sure!

Saturday- barre + core + upper body strength

What’s better than a Saturday Peloton workout? A Peloton workout with friends! Sweating with Cari and Kim this morning.

Chasing cherry blossoms

We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around at a street festival in the burbs. Retail therapy is really working for me!

Sunday-I plan to run my own virtual Cherry Blossom 5K while my friends (Coco, Cari and Kim) are running the 10 miler.

How fabulous with a blogger meet-up and even better to train together!!
Segways are SO COOL. I’ve always thought of trying one but I’ve been too … not brave. That’s lovely that your husband has started running again and that he came to run with you. Hope all goes well for him, and for you too of course. I can understand you’re a bit nervous about it after this ordeal lately.

Happy to hear you can run.

    Fingers crossed things work out.

I’m not worried about you keeping active and fit.

Enjoy your 5k. Give everyone a hug for me.

How great that your husband is running again! It’s good to see you back out there gradually adding back the miles, too. It was so fun getting together Friday evening and catching up with everyone (and finally meeting Cari).

Wow, what a fun blogger meetup! And funny that I wrote about running with my husband this week as well. Several years ago, I went to visit my sister and I couldn’t run because of some injury or other (hard to keep them all straight.) My sister loves to walk, so instead of running I took many long walks with her. In the big scheme of things, it really didn’t matter that I wasn’t running for those weeks, but I’m glad we got a chance to walk together. Maybe you’ll look back on this phase and be glad you got these runs in with your husband.

You fun to have a group workout in your home gym.

Thanks so much for picking up my packet!

Hello Deborah. It’s nice to “meet” you. I found your blog through a mention on Susanne’s blog. I’m sorry you had to miss you favorite race, but glad to hear you are running again and taking it slow. I am just getting back into running after a 3-year hiatus, but I’m struggling to get any momentum, as winter won’t release her hold on Utah.

I also loved the idea of the Segway tour. My husband and I did one in the Bahamas and it was great fun.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/03/2023 at 3:18 pm

Nice to meet you too! You can’t have too many fit friends! I am glad that you are getting back to doing what you love. I heard that you have had lots of snow out there. Looking forward to connecting w you more-hope you will join our link up 🙂
