thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. We have been stuck in a rainy, dreary pattern for the last week. Finally, the streak has broken. April showers do bring May flowers.

Sunday- rest day and stretch

Since I ran yesterday, today was my scheduled rest day. My Oura ring told me it was time for a rest after an active week. It was another super rainy day around here.

Monday- upper + lower body strength + core + Peloton cycle + afternoon walk

I slept really well last night and woke up with lots of energy to get some good workouts in, It was unseasonable chilly and windy but since it stopped raining, I was determined to get out for a short afternoon walk as well.

Tuesday- 4 mile run/walk + core + stretch

I made it farther today than my last run before needing a walk. Working my way back one run at a time! Having a big run group helps a ton.

Weekly run down

Wednesday-barre + core + upper body strength + Peloton cycle + stretch + afternoon walk

A little bit of everything today just how I like it! We have been stuck in a chilly, dreary pattern for days but managed to get out for an afternoon walk with a friend.

Thursday- 5.5 mile run + core + stretch

I was pretty ecstatic this morning after my longest run in about 6 weeks. There were some walk breaks but I am seeing progress and feeling like I am getting closer to my old self again. Our rose garden is in bloom and yes, April showers do bring May flowers.

Friday- lower body strength + core + Peloton cycle + afternoon walk

It was leg day over here! It has b even a while since I hit it hard on lower body and it felt good. I was not in the mood for photos today! I know crazy 🙂

Saturday- rest day for me

Peloton stretch and short afternoon walk. It was a gorgeous day today. April showers do bring May flowers 🌸

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I’m glad to see you are getting your groove back! It’s tough when you are accustomed to a certain level of fitness and can’t run at that level. I know about that–I’ve been struggling a bit lately too. Here’s to many happy miles ahead for both of us!

It is frustrating especially bc it was so out of the blue. Hope you have a better week ahead as well

    it was so gorgeous yesterday!

Yay on the progress you’re making with running. Is it your HR that dictates walk breaks?

How long have you been wearing an Oura ring?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/07/2023 at 8:27 am

I’ve been wearing the Oura for 3 weeks and I really like it. While I am monitoring my heart rate, that is not what has me taking breaks. Running is just harder w the meds and I feel different

Love the rose garden! Also love that you are working your way back to yourself. Great job, Deborah!

So you took a rest day last Sunday, then slept great and woke up on Monday full of energy and ready to go- sounds like the Oura ring knows what it’s talking about! Glad your running is going so well. And I’m wondering if you were sore yesterday after Friday’s leg day. After taking a mere 3 weeks off lower body strength, I felt like i was starting all over again. SIGH!

Yes, I do take full rest day each week and it makes a huge difference. Yes, my butt was sore in a good way after heavy lower body on Friday
