Just when I thought fall would stay here forever, we were hit with a blast of cold air this week. It always takes me a few weeks to get used to the winter air and figure out exactly what to wear. As luck would have it, I was sent some new Mizuno Breath Thermo cold weather wear to check out. I have long been a fan of Mizuno shoes and I was excited to check out the Mizuno Cold Weather Wear.
Mizuno Breath Thermo Cold Weather Wear
I have been on the search the past few years for warm enough running gloves. The tips of my fingers always get numb in the cold and start to hurt. No one wants to wear big bulky gloves or 2 pairs of gloves to stay warm. I set out to put these new Mizuno Breath Thermo Gloves, to the test.
We had our first 30 degree day with strong winds and these Mizuno Breath Thermo gloves (retail $35) really did keep my hands quite warm. As your body generates heat the gloves retain that heat and use it to warm your hands. I was surprised that gloves this thin could keep my hands so warm. You are able to use your phone and manage your music while wearing the gloves. A small velcro pocket on each glove is perfect for a key or tissue.
I was also sent one of the new Breath Thermo Base Layer Crew tops ($75 retail) to take on a test run. The Breath Thermo Base layer is made with the same technology that warms your core and draws moisture away from your body. The top is thin and comfortable and I really liked the berry color. It does run slightly small so I would size up for comfort. I warmed up pretty quickly with just the crew and a light jacket and ended up taking the jacket off about 15 minutes into my run.
Having a great base layer that keeps me warm and dry is key to a happy and comfortable winter run. I would add both the gloves and the base layer to my holiday running gift list and may pick up a few pairs of gloves for friends.
Tell me- Do your hands get numb in the winter? Have you tried any of the Mizuno Breath Thermo cold weather wear?

Wonder if those gloves would work around 10*, considering that I just lost one of my usual cold weather gloves…

It has not been that cold yet so I could not say but I was impressed by how warm they have been so far. 10 degrees is cold!

Great review! I’ll be posting mine next week. I loved the top. Loved. Did I say I loved the top?
Deborah Brooks says
I really loved both of them and I was really surprised how much heat the top generated
Andrea says
I definitely need to get that base layer- thanks

It was really warm!

As you know, I love Mizuno shoes too, and even though it doesn’t get really cold here I know that I need those gloves! I have Raynaud’s Syndrome, so my fingers get numb, tingly, and turn white when they get cold. It sometimes even happens in the grocery store freezer aisle! So I really need gloves that keep my hands warm. These sound perfect.
Deborah Brooks says
I think I have a touch of that syndrome as well because that happens to me a lot. I really did love the gloves
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
My hands are the first thing that gets cold when I run. I swear I do not have good circulation. My fingers are cold because they are separated, so I normally wear mittens. I’d like to try these but they are still a little pricey for me. I guess you get what you pay for, maybe I should.
Deborah Brooks says
My hands get really cold as well. Perhaps you can find them on a black Friday sale!

Great review! On really cold days of running, I double up. Gloves in the bottom and mitts over top among other things things.
Deborah Brooks says
I have done that before too but my hands are still cold. I am hoping these new ones do the trick

I have Raynaud’s Syndrome so my hands are always cold. I have so many gloves, just to have around, but I don’t a good, quality pair of them. It’s something I should try to get.
Deborah Brooks says
I think I may have a touch of that syndrome as well but I’ve never had it checked. Having a great quality pair of gloves is key!

I don’t have any Mizuno gear yet, except for my running shoes. Looks like they have good winter running gear. I’ll look them up next time I’m shopping for winter gear.
Deborah Brooks says
I love their shoes too and now I love their running gear. Yes check them out next time you are looking

My hands always start out cold in the winter, but seem to warm up pretty quickly. Lately, I’ve noticed I really haven’t needed gloves (even with temps in the 40’s), or I’ve shed them after the first couple of miles. These Mizuno gloves (and top) look awesome!!
Deborah Brooks says
I have really been loving testing them out this week
Coco says
I have so many running gloves in search of the right ones – I’ll have to check these out.
Deborah Brooks says

Karen - Fit in France says
I am always on the lookout for good running gloves. Mine are slightly tight, then when I get hot, my fingers swell. I hate it. Not enjoyable at all.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh yes I can see how that would be annoying! I like when they have some stretch to them
Esther says
Those look like awesome gloves!
Those would have come in very handy when I lived in Chicago!
It is 75 degrees today still at the end of November.
If we actually get any colder weather I will def have to get a pair!
Deborah Brooks says
A little jealous of your weather 🙂 but I do like the change of seasons

My hands don’t go numb (I have a wide variety of gloves!) but if they get really cold, they hurt and I am not a happy camper.

These sound pretty neat. I don’t tend to need warm attire running in California, but it’s definitely a thought for when I’m back in Canada visiting family though!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes definitely too warm for California!
