Veteran’s Day & Birthday Runs & Fun

The last few Veteran’s Days, I have been participating in a small 10K race that benefits local charities. This year, the On Eagles Wings 10K fit in just perfectly with my goal of running a 10K every week in November. I roped in a few of my MRTT buddies to join me and we were off on this hilly run.

Veteran's Day and birthday runs & fun

Gotta love a Friday morning race right! Number 3 of 4 November 10K’s in the books. More on what I am learning racing every weekend coming soon. I also really like doing a race right around my birthday as it kind of makes me feel not as old!

I am all for stretching out the birthday fun so I invited some friends over Sunday morning for a hill run and brunch. Boy did we hit some hills! We certainly earned our potluck breakfast of healthy frittatas, oatmeal and fruit. Oh and maybe a few mimosas.

Veteran's Day & Birthday runs & fun

I also had a chance to display this great new Pehr table runner from my Popsugar must have box. Perfect for a brunch display. You can find them here.

Veteran's Day and Birthday runs & fun

Monday was my actual birthday and my running group set up a fun girls day out complete with pedicures and lunch at one of my favorite salad places. Just love these ladies! They really know how to make a girl feel special and loved.

Veteran's Day and Birthday runs & fun

Yup it was a double cake day for me! My husband and kids had my favorite yellow cake and chocolate frosting dessert waiting for me along with some beautiful flowers. A busy and fun week indeed! Today is my husband’s birthday so I may be forced to eat more cake 🙂

Next up: Girls on The Run 5K race this Sunday.

Tell me-Do you like to race on your birthday? What’s up next on your race calendar?

Sounds like an awesome way to spend your birthday! My birthday is in August so I don’t typically race on or around my birthday because of the heat. The last time I did it was just too beastly hot for my taste. I do try to run though!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/16/2016 at 4:02 pm

My very first 5k ever was on my birthday! We were going to be out of town and when I was thinking about my first race I knew this had to be the one! Plus I knew no one so if I did bad it wouldn’t matter. You know I did fine and I regretted not having someone there to share in my accomplishment. I’ve never told anyone but I cried that day cause I finished.

I have only had one “real” race on my birthday so far…the 2015 Leprechaun Chase (10K). My birthday is March 14… so the past few years, I always do a Pi Run (3.14 miles) on my special day. My husband’s birthday is two weeks after mine, so we always get those two celebrations done & out of the way 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/16/2016 at 5:28 pm
