Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. We wrapped up up epic trip to Italy this week with a little time Under the Tuscan Sun. Here’s a peek into my week of travel, food and fitness in Italy.
Under The Tuscan Sun
Sunday- lots of walking and stretch class
Today, we took a day trip to the charming walled city of Siena. I love the quaint little shops and trattorias. Of course, every corner you turn, has another gelateria. We came back to the hotel and soaked in some more pool time.
Monday-Peloton sleep meditation and wine tastings
We left our hotel early to get in not one but 2 wine tastings today. My husband loves the wine from the Tuscany area and he was very excited to go back to some of his favorites.
We went to dinner in Pazano at a well known place that his been on his foodie list. It was a meat lovers’ paradise so this vegetarian was out of her element. But, that’s what we do for those we love lol. It was a full day and all I had time for was a last minute meditation class before falling into bed.
PS-I made it a whole day without pasta or gelato!
Tuesday-6 miles of walking + stretching
We drove from San Felice back to Florence this morning then spent the day walking around Florence. As much as I love Rome, I may love Florence more. It was much less crowded and the weather was slightly cooler. We had an afternoon siesta before heading back out for another walk to dinner.
Wednesday-Running Tour of Florence 5 miles
After 2 weeks of no running, we did a fabulous run tour of Florence. My husband did so well too! I am going to do a full recap next week with all the details and more photos.
Thursday- Travel from Florence to Rome + walking and stretch
We caught the high speed train from Florence back to Rome for our last day in Italy. We made sure to hit up our favorite pizza, gelato and mozzarella spots one last time before heading home.
Friday- Fly home to DC
After almost 3 weeks of amazing travels, scenery, food and drink, it’s time to come home. Felt amazing to sleep in my own bed again.
Saturday-35 min of Peloton cycle + core
Best way to get over jet lag? Coffee and a good sweat.
See you Friday for the August Ultimate Coffee Date! ☕️

Welcome home! What an amazing trip for you and your husband! Your photos are bringing back wonderful memories of Florence. Our hotel was right next to the Santa Maria Novella Church and we got some great pictures at sunset in front of the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. We really do need to go back…

It sure was an amazing trip! I hope you get back to Florence soon too

Your travels looked absolutely divine! I’ve been to Florence a few times and I definitely prefer it to Rome, although once we had a tour guide from hell there. Haha! At least the jet leg heading West to go home isn’t nearly as bad right?
That’s so awesome your hubby did so well on the running tour. What a fun thing to do together!
Deborah Brooks says
The jet lag is easier coming home for me for sure. I am pretty much back to normal today 🙂

Thanks for taking us along with you! Some day I will get there, I swear! I do always love sleeping in my own bed after being away for a while (even if we need a new mattress topper).
Deborah Brooks says
I really hope you do get there!

Glad you like this trip around Italy.
One whole day without pasta and gelato: what a sacrifice!!!!!
I love food in Tuscany. In my opinion the best.
Deborah Brooks says
The food in Tuscany is the best! I am bringing home a few extra pounds to show for it. Totally worth it 🙂

ahhh wine…just finished the july of watching the Tour de France and now the Tour de France Femme avec Zwift…so yep ,one of the commentators on the TdF mentioned wine every day, depending on the region the ride was in, along with a talk about local foods (lots of cheese) so yep, a wine and cheese month
Deborah Brooks says
Ha sounds about right to me! Hope you are trying some of the recommendations:)

Wow, this trip sounds INCREDIBLE. I can’t wait to hear more about the run tour. By the way, your husband looks like a really great guy. I love his smile- he just looks really easygoing and nice.
After all that amazing travel, it must feel good to be home again and get back into a routine. And I love your “jetlagged” tank- you have a shirt for everything!
Deborah Brooks says
Awww thanks! I think I will keep him around for a while 🙂
