      • Happy September friends! I can’t believe it’s labor day weekend already. I hope you have a big cup of coffee with you because I’ve got lots to chat about today! Please join me and my co hosts Coco and Lynda for the Ultimate Coffee Date. (This post contains affiliate links).
      • If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that I am still really missing my baby girl who left for college a few weeks ago. I might not be able to have coffee with her in person but we had a virtual coffee date too!
      • If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I love virtual races too and next weekend is the Skirt Sports “Boobie Run”. Yep that’s really what it’s called! It’s all about Breast Cancer Awareness and skirts of course. Skirt Sports is celebrating their 11th birthday with a fun 8k or 8  mile virtual run. As an ambassador, you can use my code and register for 20% off. (SSCMR20) You are paying $48 for a $70 gift cert. No brainer right? Hope to “see” you there.

      • If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I am so excited to be coaching my hubs towards running a 5k with me in December. I’ve tried for years to convince him and he finally said yes! I will be tracking his progress monthly. Hope you will tune in for updates. So far so good!
      • If we were having coffee, I would tell you…Like a lot of runners my feet get pretty banged up and scruffy. I’ve had so many foot issues this year too. Even when I use lots of lotion, I still have dry heels. I love getting pedicures but obviously can’t get them as often as I’d like. I was sent this cute little Emjoi Micro Pedi to test out and let me tell you-love! It really removes the dry skin & callouses off of my feet really quickly. It’s great to use between pedicures for touch ups. I will be adding to my holiday gifts for runners & it’s a steal at $24. Happy Feet = Happy me!
      • I’ve been rambling on and on. Now it’s your turn!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Virtual coffee dates-how cute! Modern technology at its finest!

Yeah hubby. I would find that so hard-my husband swears he knows everything-lol! Good luck with that!

For the virtual run-does it have to be completed on the 12th? I am pretty booked that day.

Girl….sign me up….these feet are a hot mess!

    Have a great weekend!

      09/05/2015 at 6:52 am

Ha yea the feet never ending battle! The virtual can really be anytime around that date. You don’t have to submit it or anything it’s more about fun and the gift certificate of course! Let me know if you want more info. I actually have a 25% off code for friends so message me if you want it.

I can assure you my hubs would never let me train him in anything! LOL. Kudos on your persuasion. I haven’t had a pedicure in so long. I feel like I need my calluses right now. Maybe I’ll treat myself after the big race. Hugs for missing your daughter. I’ll be in the same boat soon.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 1:38 pm

Oh yes you should treat yourself! I might have promised my hubs a few things wink wink

I would love my husband to run with me but no go. He won’t start with a walk run, feels he HAS to run then it is such an awful experience, he just says forget it. Will be interested to see how you motivate your husband ! Thanks for the linkup and have a great long weekend.

My son keeps commenting on how awful my feet are. I keep all the calluses to help prevent blisters + I have a few messed up toenails. Not my sexiest body part LOL.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 1:55 pm

  14. Kate @KateMovingForward says

    09/05/2015 at 10:31 am

Man, I need a pedicure so badly! That little micro pedi looks perfect for upkeep. So fun that your husband is training for a run with you too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 1:56 pm

It’s a great little gizmo for sure and fun to have around for those little spots. Training him has been fun so far.

  15. Aleks says

    09/05/2015 at 10:36 am

Ahhh pedicure… what was that? I haven’t had one in years! I worry that if I get one, I will a) lose half an inch of height! and b) my no-longer-hobbit feet will get blisters from all the running!

Can’t wait for the Boobie run next weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 1:59 pm

Ha sounds like you really need one then!! Yes “see you” at the virtual run

I can only imagine how much you miss that baby girl of yours! Good to hear you’re having virtual coffee dates with her! Do you wear flip flops with a black, foam rubber kind of sole? Those dry my heels out like crazy!

  18. Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says

    09/05/2015 at 5:34 pm

If we were having tea/coffee I would tell you that I finally scheduled my appointment to chop my hair and donate it. I’ll be donating it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths in memory of my niece. Can’t wait for my makeover. It’s next Friday!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 10:00 pm

That’s fabulous! My daughter donated her hair to Pantene last year. Beautiful way to honor your niece. Thanks for stopping by today

  19. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says

    09/05/2015 at 6:33 pm

Enjoy the Boobie Run! I need to take a better look at these virtual races that pop up! Glad you and your daughter are still getting some bonding time!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 10:02 pm

The virtuals are lots of fun to do and a great way to score some discounted stuff!

  20. Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry says

    09/05/2015 at 6:57 pm

Deborah, I love it … your hubby is going to do a 5k awesome! I never get pedicures any longer, I have the worst feet and toes. So many of my toes have lost their nails and growing them back is a slow process. I just have to accept my ugly toes and think of them as a reminder of my running accomplishments. LOL
I recall when our son headed to college, so hard. I never slept and was always worried. Now he is getting ready to head to the Army as a combat medic. He is going in as a specialist in the field since he is an EMT and I am not not ready for that chapter.
Fun coffee today, see you on the blogosphere 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 10:03 pm

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/05/2015 at 10:06 pm

So cool about your husband – will you race, too? Have a great labor day weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2015 at 7:54 am

Yes I will be running it with him and my son. I am so excited!

  25. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    09/06/2015 at 7:06 am

Very cool about coaching your husband. I’d be happy if mine would just walk the dogs without prodding! He used to walk them everyday when we lived in TX, but somehow he’s too “busy” now (despite traveling less and less heat).

I’m just not into virtual races. I like the real thing.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2015 at 7:58 am

Well we’ve been battling the “I am too busy” excuse for years. I am so glad he finally agreed. Don’t lose hope you never know.

      • Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

        09/06/2015 at 10:03 am

He worries about my running; I worry about his inactivity & poor eating habits. His father had dementia & it just kills me that he can’t see the harm he’s doing to himself.

But I also know it’s got to come from him. Thanks for letting me know there’s always hope.

  26. Nicole @ Fitful Focus says

    09/06/2015 at 8:45 am

How fun to have virtual coffee dates with your daughter. Also still can’t wait to hear about how the husband’s training is going! Hope you’re enjoying the weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2015 at 9:42 am

So far so good! Updates in a few weeks

  27. Kelli says

    09/06/2015 at 2:08 pm

The micro pedi looks interesting. I have a Ped-Egg but that is almost like a cheese grater. This tool looks a bit less “rough.”

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2015 at 3:06 pm

Ha it is less rough than the pedi egg. It’s more like an electric pumice stone. It does feel nice!

  28. Farrah says

    09/06/2015 at 3:06 pm

Yay for virtual coffee dates! 😛 Modern technology definitely helps to make being away from family a little bit easier!

    I hope you’re having a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2015 at 3:40 pm

It sure does! I am sure it’s hard for you to be away from your family a lot too.

  29. Angela @ happy fit mama says

    09/06/2015 at 7:14 pm

Ugh – FEET! I seriously want a foot transplant right now BUT the shaver thing looks cool!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2015 at 9:40 pm

I’ve had numerous foot issues the last 1 1/2 years myself it;s so annoying when all you want to do is run!
