Good morning my coffee loving friends! Thanks for joining me and Coco and Lynda for our Ultimate Coffee Date today. These coffee dates are some of my favorite posts to write and read. I have so much to tell you today so lets get right to it. Grab your mug and join us for the Ultimate Coffee Date-June Edition.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…Even though I wrote a whole post about race day anxiety yesterday, it’s real people! I have my first sprint tri of the season tomorrow and I am freaking out about the weather. I thought after that crazy 40 mph wind we had at Cherry Blossom the weather gods would be nicer to me this time around. Nope! Looking like thunder storms for tomorrow all day. Really??
I was really excited about this race and feel like I am so ready this time with no injuries. Hope the forecast is wrong!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you..next weekend I will be heading out to Boulder for the Skirt Sports Ambassador retreat and 13er race. I am beyond excited to visit the new Skirt Sports retail store, hang out with the other ambassadors and meet everyone. Can someone ever have too many running skirts? (No need to answer that!) We will also be doing some hiking and “cocktailing”. I’ve never been there and can’t wait!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I can never think of anything to get my husband for Father’s Day that he will actually use. When the kids were young, I would do picture frames and cute little drawings but that doesn’t really work anymore. I just booked us a spot to do the Escape Room in DC that weekend and I hope he likes it. I’ve been wanting to do it for a while and thought it would be a fun family activity. Any Father’s Day ideas? Have you done the Escape Room yet?
Kelli says
Escape the room is fun! Which one are you doing? Good luck with your race today. We’re supposed to get the nasty storms tomorrow…blah.
Deborah Brooks says
WE are supposed to get the same storms that’s why I am worried hopefully we can get the race in first. We are doing the DC escape room-can’t wait
Mary Beth Jackson says
I am sending dry thoughts your way! You all make running in the rain look easy! ???? The Escape room sounds cool although I don’t know what it is! Good luck tomorrow I’m headed out for my 5k in 5!
Deborah Brooks says
Running in the rain doesn’t bother me it’s the biking that freaks me out! Good luck w your race today hope it’s not too hot out there. thanks for stopping in for coffee first
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Sooooo jealous you’re going to the 13er. I did consider it, but am actually glad I decided against it. Too much travel in May; I need a little downtime!
Luckily Mr, Judy isn’t a Dad.
Good luck tomorrow! Hope the forecast is wrong. Same forecast for us, luckily my race is today.
Deborah Brooks says
I know this bad weather is everywhere this weekend. The 13 er is going to be so much fun I am excited to meet everyone. Good luck with your race today!
Laura@Fit Running Mama says
Ugh when you come up with a father’s day idea please let me know!!! Story of my life !!!
Deborah Brooks says
It only gets harder! Thanks for joining us for coffee
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
You are going to do great tomorrow! And hey if it storms, you won’t have to swim, right? :p
Deborah Brooks says
Yes that’s a bright side. Swimming is my weakest of the 3 sports for sure.
Karen - Fit in France says
Good luck and have fun tomorrow. Hope the weather gets better. No fun racing in those conditions. No ideas for Father’s Day ! I leave it up to my kids now.
Deborah Brooks says
Now that’s a great idea!
Lara @ Uptite Mamas says
So much going on! That’s awesome. I hope the weather holds up and that you have a fantastic time next weekend!! June is such a busy month! I hope you get to enjoy every single second.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much! Send dry thoughts my way
Coco says
Ugh, I hope the weather cooperates for you tomorrow! I have no desire to do an escape room thing – maybe if I new more about it, but I’m afraid I’d get a panic attack. On the other hand, I think you will LOVE Boulder!
Deborah Brooks says
The weather is not looking good at all! It might get cancelled unfortunately. The escape room is supposed to be lots of fun it will be just our family in there and you are not really locked in. But I will tell you all about it!
Kim W says
I’m hoping the weather holds out for you tomorrow! I did the DC escape room with my work colleagues. It was really fun. But we had too many people for everyone to fully participate. Doing it with your family will be perfect!
Deborah Brooks says
me too but it is not looking good! May get cancelled unfortunately. I am excited about the escape room!
Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry says
I am so amazed at the weather around the country lately, goodness so strange. What an exciting trip you have planned to attend the Skirt Sports event. I have a feeling rain or shine, you will always do an amazing job with any run Deborah. Have a wonderful weekend, so fun to have coffee again.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much yes so excited to go to Boulder and will do my best tomorrow
Tricia@MissSippipiddlin says
How lucky! That Skirt Sports retreat sounds so fun!
We did an escape room in Pigeion Forge TN when we went a few weeks ago and we had so much fun! It was 2 other couples whom we had not met but we worked really good together. We did not escape but came really close like 3 minutes and it was one of the hardest games they had then.
Deborah Brooks says
I think it will be lots of fun to do the escape room. It’s just our family in there so will be great
HoHo Runs says
Good luck with your sprint tri! I got one on my radar in a few weeks. But, it’s really making me nervous. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate for you. I always have problems with Father’s Day presents. Golf balls and golf shirts usually do the trick, but that’s not very exciting. I haven’t done an escape room challenge yet. Sounds fun. Thanks for coffee!
Deborah Brooks says
I get so nervous before races seriously what is up with that? The rain held off and it was lots of fun
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Ugh I have the same problem trying to buy Father’s Day gifts for my husband too. I have no ideas this year :0 I hope the weather holds off for you tomorrow. Good luck and have fun!
Deborah Brooks says
It didn’t rain! Yay and was lots of fun
Marcia says
I’m sending all great vibes your way for a great race tomorrow. Let’s hope mom Nature isn’t too harsh. My first tri last year was in torrential t’storms. They postponed the swim until the lightning cleared but it still rained cats and dogs all the way through the bike. Yet I live to tell the story. Ugh I’m so with you. Father’s Day gifts are hard but I like your idea! Thanks for the linkup!
Deborah Brooks says
It stopped raining for the race-yay! Biking in the rain is no fun at all and it scares me to death
Karen says
I hope the weather holds up for your race! The eastern forecast is coated in scattered T-storms, but hopefully you can enjoy your event.
I really like all the skirt sports I see, but I don’t own one yet. I need!
A trip to Boulder sounds awesome!! I have not been there since I was 10 years old lol I still remember how pretty it was though.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes you need to bring running skirts to France!! I have discount codes let me know if you want one.
Natalie says
My girlfriends and I are doing the Escape Room next Sunday night!! I can’t wait – I will tell you all about it 🙂
Ooooh, you are going to love Boulder!! So excited for you, so fun.
Good luck on your race tomorrow!! You’ve got this!
Deborah Brooks says
Can’t wait to hear if you like the escape room. We are all excited about it
Steph says
A friend of mine moved to America a couple of years ago and regularly goes to Boulder and she absolutely loves it – I am sure you’ll love it too. I hope the weather gods are kind to you. I am hoping from a similar kindness from them today (I have washing to dry!), but sadly they’re not on my side today, so far. Thank you for hosting!
Deborah Brooks says
I am really excited for Boulder! The rain held out for our race today and it was great thanks!
Erica says
I hope your race went well and the the weather gods were kind to you. I was expecting rain today on my long run and it was dry and nice! Hope you had the same. That retreat sounds AMAZING! Can’t wait to “hear” about it!
Deborah Brooks says
It stopped raining for us and it was great thanks!
Mary @ Fit and Fed says
Hoping for no thunderstorms for you today! You are right that pre-competition anxiety is real. I’m not a runner, but a skater, and the skating test I was going to take next week is not going to work out (not the right judges for my level). The relief of stress is obvious! And this is something I wanted to do, I’m disappointed, too– disappointed yet more relaxed. Emotions are complex, and our sports bring them all out!
Deborah Brooks says
Sports definitely bring out all of our fears and insecurities! I need to work on that a little more. Thanks for stopping in today!
Akaleistar says
The Escape Room sounds awesome! There’s one up here, but I haven’t gone yet 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I have been wanting to go for a while should be fun to do with the whole family
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I saw you posted a pic after your event, I hope it went well! I was worried about Sunday’s weather too, but thankfully my mud run didn’t get washed out! The SkirtSport retreat sounds awesome! I have never even tried on a running skirt, I’ll have to look into them!
Deborah Brooks says
My race did end up going really well thanks! Glad yours went on ok too. Oh you have to try a skirt I love them
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
Boulder sounds like such a fun city to visit and run in.
I can never figure out what to get my dad, so he to is getting an experience, a boat ride and fishing.
Deborah Brooks says
I am so excited to go to Boulder although I know the altitude is going to be a killer!
