Good Morning friends! Did the year just fly by for you too? So glad that we have this time to sit down and catch up over coffee. Please join me and co hosts- Coco and Lynda for this month’s chat.
I had such a busy month and I bet you have lots to tell me too so pull up a chair and grab your favorite cup.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…The Holiday Season just flew by! We had a great Holiday party for our MRTT group and lots of new members came out to meet us. We had a fun “white elephant” gift exchange. I have no idea why it’s called, “white elephant” do you? It’s always fun to see the ladies dressed up and out of their running clothes. We have such a great time together-I seriously don’t know what I did before I knew them.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…If you didn’t see my post earlier this week, I have another running injury-ugh! My heel had been bothering me for a few weeks and although I did take some time off it appears that I have a nasty case of plantar fasciitus. There will be no running for me for a few weeks and I will need to wear this fashionable boot for a few weeks.
I was rather upset understandably as this was not the way I intended to start 2015. Now that it’s been a few days, I can see that it is already starting to get better so I am not crying while walking around with my running shoes in my hand. Seriously, I don’t know how my husband deals with me sometimes. LOL
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I thought this was the year that I was going to crush the Rock n Roll DC in March and finally get that PR. Obviously a March half is not in the cards this year but I know that I will be back it as soon as I can. I am registered for the Cape Cod Ragnar in May so right now that is my goal race.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…In case you missed my numerous Instagram posts, my family and I had a great time aboard the Royal Carribean cruise last week. We literally did every activity they had and had such a blast doing it. We spent a few days in NYC first doing all sorts of touristy things. We even hit the Rockettes show.
Speaking of Instagram-I’m kind of new to it and would love to connect with you there too. You can find me here. I always follow back.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I was thinking a major change was in order so I went from this
to this
What do you think? It’s a super big change huh?
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I thought this was the perfect mug for our Ultimate Coffee Dates!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I hope you had had a fabulous New Year’s Eve. I had a fun time with my hubby and friends. Wishing you all a fabulous new year filled with friends, family and fitness. Hope you will tune in for Meatless Monday where we will be featuring soups, stews and chili all month long.
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

I've always wondered how they came up with the name, "White Elephant" too, haha. Your cruise looked so fun (loved the pictures on IG :), and that mug is awesome!

Coco says
Oh where did you get the mug? That’s pretty awesome! Of course, now that my blog banner has my photo, I’m not sure I’d want to see my face every morning. Now when I see ads for that cruise line, I think of you!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha! I got it on Vistaprint-pretty cheap and you can make just about anything on there! I have lots of ideas for 2015. Love our coffee dates and really looking forward to a real one soon

Chaitali says
I love the hair, it looks great! And the theme for meatless Mondays is perfect since one of my Christmas gifts was a food processor/blender. That will definitely make soups easier 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Awesome can’t wait to see you and your yummy recipes there! Thanks I am getting used to the hair.
Mary Long says
White Elephant- A white elephant is a possession which its owner cannot dispose of and whose cost, particularly that of maintenance, is out of proportion to its usefulness. The term derives from the story that the kings of Siam, now Thailand, were accustomed to make a present of one of these animals to courtiers who had rendered themselves obnoxious in order to ruin the recipient by the cost of its maintenance. In modern usage, it is an object, scheme, business venture, facility, etc., considered without use or value.
Your MRTT party must have been a great time! Your group has really grown!
Deborah Brooks says
Well thanks for clearing up the mystery of the elephant-so interesting! Yes our MRTT group is over 400 members now it’s crazy I can’t believe it!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Isn’t Royal Caribbean the best? We did one of their cruises last June and I’d go again in a heartbeat! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with another injury – hope you recover quickly!! Love your new hair color 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! I know it will heal quickly if I just give it a rest which is the hard part for me of course.
Karen - Fit in France says
So sorry about your heel… injuries can be so frustrating. It looks like you had a great cruise vacation ! I have never been on one, we are afraid of being a bit bored and too confined.
Love the new hair color. Change is good, and if you don’t like it, you can always go back !
Happy New year to you & your family.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh you certainly wouldn’t be bored on this cruise! Yea the heel thing kind of sucks but it’s already feeling much better so I am hopeful to be back out there running soon.
Kristen says

Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I love the new hair!!!
Sorry about the PF. Been there, done that…One thing I found helpful was Feetures PF compression sleeves. I wore them all the time when I wasn’t wearing shoes. They really helped a lot. I hope yours goes away quickly. It’s a tough one.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! I haven’t tried the sleeves but I am wearing compression socks with the lovely boot. Fun times! I know it will go away soon just a little frustrating to say the least.
Clarinda says
Love your dark new hair! Happy New Year to you, too. 🙂
And OMG that coffee cup is adorable!!
Rest easy. Hope your injury heals quickly.
Deborah Brooks says

Mary Beth Jackson says
well you know I think brunettes rule! It looks FAB! Did you tell the hubby before you had it done? I bobbed my hair off last January ( 8 inches from the longest spot) and just came walking in the door like I was a rock star! LOL! Sometimes change it good! Heal quickly my friend!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much! I don’t think he knew quite what to expect but my son said he didn’t recognize me. It’s fun to switch it up once in a while right?
Kim says

Hey, just came across your site! Pretty fab, lots of inspiration here. The holidays kicked my butt and now its time to start moving again (the couch almost swallowed me lol) Happy New Year to you, and I shall return!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You’re in a boot, and I’m sidelined from running. Perhaps we should meet for lunch instead of trying to meet for a run! Hope you recover quickly and can get back on the trail!
Deborah Brooks says
ugh seriously! Just got the news today that I can slowly start running again next week. If we had to be out this was the week to do it. It’s brutal out there!
