Ultimate Coffee Date-January 2015

Good Morning friends! Did the year just fly by for you too? So glad that we have this time to sit down and catch up over coffee. Please join me and co hosts- Coco and Lynda for this month’s chat.

Coffee Date link up|virtual|coffe date

I had such a busy month and I bet you have lots to tell me too so pull up a chair and grab your favorite cup.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…The Holiday Season just flew by! We had a great Holiday party for our MRTT group and lots of new members came out to meet us. We had a fun “white elephant” gift exchange. I have no idea why it’s called, “white elephant” do you? It’s always fun to see the ladies dressed up and out of their running clothes. We have such a great time together-I seriously don’t know what I did before I knew them.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…If you didn’t see my post earlier this week, I have another running injury-ugh! My heel had been bothering me for a few weeks and although I did take some time off it appears that I have a nasty case of plantar fasciitus. There will be no running for me for a few weeks and I will need to wear this fashionable boot for a few weeks.

IMG_4407

I was rather upset understandably as this was not the way I intended to start 2015. Now that it’s been a few days, I can see that it is already starting to get better so I am not crying while walking around with my running shoes in my hand. Seriously, I don’t know how my husband deals with me sometimes. LOL

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I thought this was the year that I was going to crush the Rock n Roll DC in March and finally get that PR. Obviously a March half is not in the cards this year but I know that I will be back it as soon as I can. I am registered for the Cape Cod Ragnar in May so right now that is my goal race.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…In case you missed my numerous Instagram posts, my family and I had a great time aboard the Royal Carribean cruise last week. We literally did every activity they had and had such a blast doing it. We spent a few days in NYC first doing all sorts of touristy things. We even hit the Rockettes show.

Speaking of Instagram-I’m kind of new to it and would love to connect with you there too. You can find me here. I always follow back.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I was thinking a major change was in order so I went from this

New Year's Eve 13-14 to this New Year's Eve

What do you think? It’s a super big change huh?

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I thought this was the perfect mug for our Ultimate Coffee Dates!

Confessions of a mother Runner|coffee dates

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…I hope you had had a fabulous New Year’s Eve. I had a fun time with my hubby and friends. Wishing you all a fabulous new year filled with friends, family and fitness. Hope you will tune in for Meatless Monday where we will be featuring soups, stews and chili all month long.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

White Elephant- A white elephant is a possession which its owner cannot dispose of and whose cost, particularly that of maintenance, is out of proportion to its usefulness. The term derives from the story that the kings of Siam, now Thailand, were accustomed to make a present of one of these animals to courtiers who had rendered themselves obnoxious in order to ruin the recipient by the cost of its maintenance. In modern usage, it is an object, scheme, business venture, facility, etc., considered without use or value.
Your MRTT party must have been a great time! Your group has really grown!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/03/2015 at 10:22 am

Well thanks for clearing up the mystery of the elephant-so interesting! Yes our MRTT group is over 400 members now it’s crazy I can’t believe it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/03/2015 at 10:23 am

Thanks! I know it will heal quickly if I just give it a rest which is the hard part for me of course.

So sorry about your heel… injuries can be so frustrating. It looks like you had a great cruise vacation ! I have never been on one, we are afraid of being a bit bored and too confined.

Love the new hair color. Change is good, and if you don’t like it, you can always go back !

Happy New year to you & your family.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/03/2015 at 10:26 am

Oh you certainly wouldn’t be bored on this cruise! Yea the heel thing kind of sucks but it’s already feeling much better so I am hopeful to be back out there running soon.

    I love the new hair!!!

Sorry about the PF. Been there, done that…One thing I found helpful was Feetures PF compression sleeves. I wore them all the time when I wasn’t wearing shoes. They really helped a lot. I hope yours goes away quickly. It’s a tough one.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/03/2015 at 10:35 pm

Thanks! I haven’t tried the sleeves but I am wearing compression socks with the lovely boot. Fun times! I know it will go away soon just a little frustrating to say the least.
