Thanks for joining Coco and me for the Ultimate Coffee Date August linkup today. These are some of my favorite posts to read and write. It’s fun to see what everyone is up to isn’t it? Coffee dates with friends are my favorite way to chit chat and catch up so lets get to it. Grab your favorite mug and join us!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am still a little bummed that I decided to bail out of my tri race tomorrow. I trained really hard this summer but I know it was the right thing to do. I know there will be other races but I still feel kind of torn. If you missed my post about it yesterday see here.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am currently binge watching “The Night Of” on HBO. My husband got me into it this week. The acting is great and I can’t wait to see what happens. Anyone else watching it? Check it out!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… I am cherishing my last week or so with my daughter before she goes back to college. We will all be taking her back to Indiana soon and getting her settled into her apartment.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am really struggling to run well in this heat and humidity the past few weeks. I used to love summer running but this year I am dying! Kind of dreaming about fall running. I am looking forward to training for the Hershey half in October. It’s been a while since I’ve done half and feeling excited about the challenge.
Thanks for joining us for our virtual Ultimate Coffee Date today. Enjoy your Saturday!
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me today?

At one point I thought Hershey would be my PA half, but I’m glad I did Gettysburg. I am never super fond of summer running when it’s hot & humid & this summer was unusually so for us.
I hear you on the missed race — as I commented yesterday, I was in the same position last year. It was the right decision for me, too, but I’m still wistful about it a year later.
Thanks! It’s funny how a race can have so much emotional baggage tied to it!
It’s been a hot and humid summer here in Chicago too… I love the heat though 🙂 Not for running but for playing and of course eating ice cream
I love the heat for playing around but the running is killing me this year! ice cream is good anytime 🙂
Enjoy those last summer moments with your daughter, I hope she is enjoying the college experience! Sorry about your tri too but you got big things going on! Get moved and start training for your Hersey race, moving on! Enjoy the weekend!
Thanks friend and yes back to upping my runs again starting this weekend
I’m so glad you mentioned that show on HBO! I need something to watch–well, after the Olympics– and that sounds perfect!
It’s really good a little graphic at times but not over the top. Hope you enjoy!
I don’t think the missed race disappointment ever goes away. I’ve had to pull out of two and I still wonder how I would have done in those races. Of course it’s always the races we train so hard for that we have to miss, murphy’s law and all that. Enjoy your time with your daughter!
Yes exactly! Funny we can put so much emotional energy into a race isn’t it?
Enjoy your time with your daughter! It goes by so fast. Is she a junior this year? What is she majoring in?
It does go by so quickly! She is a sophomore and right now her interest is in psychology (following right in my footsteps)
I live in Indiana! Where is she going to college? And did you say Hershey? As in chocolate?? Oh I need to do that one! 🙂
Yes! My daughter is a sophomore at IU Bloomigton. Do you live near there? We love all the Indiana people we have met. Yes Hershey in October because who does not want to run for chocolate?
We live in Shelbyville, which is a bit north of Bloomington. About an hour to an hour and a half away. My husband got his law degree from IU Bloomington and I got my counseling degree from IU but I went to satellite campuses. It’s a beautiful campus.
It is a beautiful campus! Too bad you are too far away for a run. I will only be there for 2 days but love to run there
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I signed up for class pass for a one month trial and am doing the class pass challenge of one new thing per day (not all exercise related… can be as simple as wear your hair a different way)…. and I’ve been really having fun with it!
That is fun! I thought about doing class pass too but couldn’t figure out how to fit it all into my schedule. Hope you try some fun new classes.
It has definitely been a hot summer! I’ve never run during summer before and the heat and humidity are killing me this year. Sorry to hear about your tri… You can always try again another race 🙂
I know it’s been tough this year!
We’re in need of a new show so I think we need to check out The Night Of!
Enjoy the next week with your daughter! I love that rather than counting down the days til she goes you’re soaking up the last bit of time together!
Thanks! Yes I am enjoying the last few days with her
Have a lovely time with your daughter! I hope she settles back into college life quickly. I hear you on the humidity front – it’s always the humidity that kills me (I can deal with heat, but not the humidity).
Thanks! And yes exactly!
My summer running has been pretty abysmal this year. Worse than usual! I think I’m a bit over trained and burnt out, so I am ratcheting back for August to be fresh for Sept/Oct to train for NYC!
Have fun with your daughter before she leaves!
That sounds like a great plan!
Didn’t they cancel the swim of the Tri you were going to do, or was that a different one? I just saw the medals for the Hershey Half – so cute! Thanks for taking the lead on hosting our coffee date while I was out riding. 🙂
Yes they did on Friday! I probably would have done much better without it! Go figure
I hadn’t heard of “The Night Of”. I really haven’t been watching any TV series this summer, I’ll have to check it out! Yeah, running in this weather is absolutely miserable. I can’t wait for the fall either! Hope you enjoy your last days before your daughter goes back to school!
Thanks! A lot going on this summer for sure
Once again I let this month slip by me. I had an opportunity to take a road trip for a fun filled weekend with my girlfriend. In turn I missed out on the link up. I will say I’m finally sitting down to enjoy my Monday morning coffee and seeing what everyone is up too.
I hope with the fall approaching us it will allow me to have a better blogging schedule. Thanks Deborah for this link up.
Life is pretty busy right now for all of us! We will be here next month with our mugs waiting 🙂
Hi Deborah! I was going to link up with the Coffee Date today, but see it has already closed. How long does it usually stay open?
That’s a bummer that you decided to bail on the tri over the weekend, but it definitely sounds like it was the right decision. There will be many more tris in the future. I can’t wait for fall running, too! The heat and humidity is seriously the only part of summer that I dislike.
Enjoy the rest of the time with your daughter! I know a lot of folks who are in back-to-school mode right now and it’s a little scary how quickly the time has gone by!
Ah sorry you missed the coffee date link up. WE usually just keep it open for the weekend bc then we are right into meatless Monday and it’s hard to keep up. Yes the time did fly by this summer for sure!
What genre is The Night of?
wondering if I would like it
It’s a crime drama- a little graphic at times but very well written and acted. I believe it is only 10 episodes. I am 4 in so far so good
Sorry I missed the coffee date, but with vacation, I did no blogging.
Crazy that your daughter is going back to school already. Our daughter will be off to college next year, but if she is in school in Paris, she will live at home. I don’t want to think that in a year she could be moving out 🙁
It’s so hard to let her go now that I have had her back all summer. I have to say goodbye all over again. Missed you at the coffee date but it’s great that you took some time off of blogging to enjoy your vacation. I am looking forward to reading all about it.
