    • Wow this summer is just flying by isn’t it?! Can’t believe we are getting together for our August Ultimate Coffee Date already. Please join me and my fab co hostesses, Coco and Lynda for another great coffee chat.
    • If we were having coffee…I would tell you that I just discovered a new coffee gadget for all you Keurig users that I am so excited about. This EZ-cup (affiliate link) lets you use your own coffee and fill it up in this re-useable cup with disposable filters. Now I have a way to use that delish coffee I brought home from Hawaii! And drink more coffee! It’s the little things that make me happy!
    • If we were having coffee…I would tell you that we have been working on organizing things and packing up to get ready to take my daughter to college in 2 weeks. (When I say “we” I mean “me”) If I don’t step back into a Bed, Bath & Beyond for a while it will be ok. Still hasn’t quite all sunk in yet.
    • If we were having coffee…I would tell you we are off to the Delaware beaches for a few days to spend time with my whole family. Should be lots of fun as long as we don’t see any sharks. Seriously, I’ve had enough of those reports for a while. Oddly, people also seem to really be into watching “Sharknado”. I’ve never seen one and I don’t quite get the appeal. Am I missing something? They fly too?!
    • If we were having coffee….I would tell you I am excited/nervous for my Iron Girl tri race in 2 weeks. I’ve been training pretty hard the past few months. I tend to go from being really excited to having waves of panic and nausea the closer my races get. Open water swims freak me out a little. Cue “Sharknado”. Seems to be a theme huh? I’ve been training with my friend, Holly, and she is just crushing our workouts. So amazed by how far she has come this summer.
    • If we were having coffee…I would tell you that I am off to do one of my last “brick” workouts (bike followed by run) this morning. It’s already pretty hot out and the heat has been hitting me hard on the runs. So nice chatting with you all but

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Good luck on your tri race in 2 weeks. I am sure you will do a fabulous job ! Kind of scary when kids leave the house. I still have 2 more years, and I am so NOT ready. Enjoy your family time in Delaware.

It is kind of a weird feeling getting her ready to go but all part of life I guess.

Enjoy the beach! I was just at a bed bath and beyond (running errands with my 14 year old) and the cashier asked if we were getting ready for college! I must have had a panicked look on my face because she backtracked quickly! 4 more years before that…now, on the other hand, if she was implying I looked college aged 🙂 …

      08/01/2015 at 5:56 am

I am totally sure she was referring to you! 🙂

A race and your daughter heading off to college at the same time! WOW! You will be all kinds of excited! Enjoy the beach and I don’t know a thing about this Sharknado thing. Am I missing something? Have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2015 at 5:56 am

Yes a lot going on! The sharknado is some kind of farce movie or something but apparently there have been 3 of them. I’ve not seen it either. Weird though

Can’t wait to hear about your tri!! I’m up early to enjoy a few minutes of total quiet!! (love it!!) and then I’ll head for a run after the kids get up! We’ve had some amazing weather here FINALLY and it’s summer ALL THE TIME 🙂

Good luck on your upcoming triathlon! I am sure you are going to do awesome! We just got back from the beach last week. It was my daughter’s first time seeing the ocean- she was so excited! When I went off to college ( many moons ago now), my mom and I spent A LOT of time at B, B, & B. I can only imagine how hard it must be. Positive thoughts your way!

Not only is there a Sharknado, but now there are 3! I don’t get it either. I watched the first one for like 5 seconds and was done. Good luck with your training! And have a great vacation!!

Speaking of Bed Bath & Beyond, do you notice the smell in that store? At mine, it’s almost nauseating. I know it’s some type of home fragrance, but it’s just not good. Too much. Good luck at your Iron Girl Tri. That is so exciting! Have a nice, relaxing beach trip too.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2015 at 12:22 pm

Uh no I didn’t notice a smell lol Thanks for the vote of confidence

I sent my daughter off last weekend for 4 days of camp and that was hectic planning and shopping and organizing. I was thinking at the time how weird it’ll be to send her off to college in 3 years… I can’t even imagine. Good luck with the rest of your organizing. And good luck on your tri! Exciting.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2015 at 12:22 pm

Funny timing,I finally watched Sharknado (the first one) last night. I loved it, my husband not so much. I think I’ll be watching the other 2 alone.

    • Deborah Brooks says

After prepping for my son to head to overnight camp for a month I cannot even imagine the shopping list you must have for B, B & Beyond! Very exciting that your tri is just a couple of weeks away! And I’m with you on the whole Sharknado thing – I don’t really get it.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2015 at 12:23 pm

I know they need so much stuff!

  14. Farrah says

hehehe, I remember my Bed Bath & Beyond trip with my family before I went off to college! I think we also hit up Target and Costco. <3

Hope you have fun at the beach! I've never seen any of the Sharknado movies, and don't really have any idea what it's about either, hahaha.

    • Deborah Brooks says

  15. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

I haven’t watched any of the Sharknados, and it’s kind of surprising, I like some of that kind of horror. Weird I know! Great luck in the tri in 2 weeks. I know some of what your going through, I signed up for a Disney Marathon, I did say marathon! I’ve only done half’s before so this will be my first one and I’m so dang nervous!!! Thank you so much for the Linkup. Holly from HoHoruns turned me onto this linkup! 🙂

Hopefully the sharks with stay in North Carolina for your trip! Sounds like you have a ton going on as usual. Good luck with the tri! You can worry about some things, but I bet you can cross sharks off of your list – just saying!

I have been entertaining my 15 year old niece this weekend. I am beat! Ready for my vacation in 2 weeks, too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2015 at 9:34 am

I love the refillable keurig cups! I use mine at work everyday :). I also don’t get the Sharknado thing. I watched the first 5 minutes of the original one and had to turn it off. Bleh! Thanks for the fun link up 🙂

Thanks so much for co-hosting the Coffee link-up! I am in shock that it is already August, too. I remember how crazy things would get at Bed Bath and Beyond before I was headed back to college. People were vicious when it came to nabbing their favorite shower caddy, etc. Wow!!!

GOOD LUCK at your tri in two weeks!!! I wish you a smooth, speedy, and healthy race!!!
