Sometimes you just need to hang out with a girlfriend and chat over coffee.
I’m joining up with my new friends today for the Ultimate Coffee Date a virtual hangout with the girls to catch up and relax. I hope you’ll join us too.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…it’s been way too long since we hung out alone without the kids and husbands! I would tell you that you looked great and did you get your hair cut? Big hugs all around.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I no longer do the flavored coffees-yes I have even given up the sugar free flavors as I am trying to cut out more processed foods and basically things I cannot pronounce. I now use cinnamon in my coffee and it’s really good-try it! I’ve been drinking tons of lemon water too. I think my skin is looking better. I’ve been eating cleaner the last few weeks and I feel great.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I am so glad that it is finally spring because this winter was brutal. I finally took out my spring bag today. What do you think?
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I am so excited for our huge MOMS RUN THIS TOWN event today. We have over 125 moms from all over Northern Virginia coming to do a “Run Your Own Race, At Your Own Pace” event. It is mock race designed to allow everyone to try a new distance or goal to prepare for their own upcoming race. It’s a non competitive way for us all to run together at our own paces and distances. We’ve mapped out a route, have supported water stops, raffles, giveaways, demo shoes and a post run yoga class. It’s going to be so incredible and of course I will take lots of pictures to show you.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…It’s going to be a crazy weekend! I have another exciting event on Sunday. We are invited to a brunch on Sunday hosted by Bravo and Top Chef as a post White House Correspondence Dinner Event. I have been dying to go to one of these for years! Usually tons of celebs are there and I’m hoping I see my boyfriend there. You know Bradley Cooper. My husband thinks I am a little wacky but indulges my ongoing fantasy. He’s a good sport. I know the next question-I have NO idea what I am going to wear. I attempted to do a Rent the Runway dress again but they just came and no dice. So freaking out a little but I will figure something out. I called Rent the Runway and they are going to overnight me a few more dresses to try. I will keep you posted on how that goes.
If we were having coffee I would tell you… we are doing our practice 5k for Girls on The Run on Tuesday. I’ve been coaching a team this spring with my teenage daughter-how fun is that? It’s been a great bonding experience for us and I am so grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to do it together. Sometimes, one of the girls will say or do something and my daughter and I will just have this moment. We don’t have to say anything but we both laugh inside because we remember the drama from when she was that age. Our 5k is coming up in 2 weeks and the girls are starting to get excited about it.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I am so glad that school is almost over. My daughter just took the ACT’s and that was so stressful for her and for me. Well you know how it is. She studied so much and did really well on them. I am really proud of her. My son is still enjoying the ease of his last year of middle school. Oh next year will be a shocker. For now, he is just having fun as a lacrosse goalie.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I can’t believe my 19th wedding anniversary is next week! Where did the time go? I’m looking forward to spending a romantic evening with my husband at The Inn at Little Washington in a few weeks.
If we were having coffee what would you tell me? I’ve been rambling on now it’s your turn…
Please remember to stop by and say hi to my hosts as well

I’m so glad we could get together and catch up…and that I have been introduced to our blog 🙂
My son just took the ACT this morning and the SAT about a month ago. Stress makes him moody! I’m so happy spring is here! It’s still a little chillier than it should be but I’m not complaining. No ice or snow!
I’ve been coaching a GOTR group and our race is next weekend. I’m so excited to have share this experience with the girls and I often think this experience will make some of the girls life long runners.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh well looks like we have a lot in common. HS is so stressful these days. We have one more round of the ACT next month-hope we can both make it through-LOL. I’m loving GOTR too and really looking forward to our run in 2 weeks. Glad we got a chance to catch up over coffee. Have a great weekend!
Caroline @ Fighting For Wellness says
Happy (almost) anniversary! I love LOVE your new spring break (and also want one myself!). I’ve been thinking of trying cinnamon in coffee. Does it melt into the coffee or stay as tiny speaks (I don’t want anything stuck in my teeth while seeing clients!)?
Deborah Brooks says
Haha I don’t think the cinnamon gets stuck in my teeth! It dissolves into the milk of the latte. Thanks for stopping by for coffee see you next time!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Wow so many good things happening! That Top Chef event sounds amazing – have a great time! And happy anniversary 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am really excited about the party tomorrow hope I see some good celebs! Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by for coffee.

Love the spring bag, I need to get a new spring bag but I can’t never find the right one in my budget. Champagne taste on a beer budget and then I realize there are too many running items I need and end up spending it on that 🙂 The MRTT event today was awesome, you guys did great! Thanks for your hard work to put the together, I would consider it a HUGE success! Bradley Cooper, enough said. Yum. Would love to hear about the brunch, that sounds awesome! And Happy Anniversary!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a great MRTT event! Thanks for bringing your chapter moms out too. We are already planning to hold it again next year. Anytime you need a shopping buddy let me know I’m there!

What an exciting weekend you have coming. I can’t wait to read about and see pics. The Girls on the Run program is so amazing, I think they must be everywhere. I have my own “celeb” husband/boyfriends {yep} I told my hubby I get a few LOL
Thanks for having coffee with us Deborah 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
We all need a few celeb husbands to dream about right? Sadly he wasn’t there. He doesn’t know what he’s missing. Yes I do believe GOTR is nationwide. Such a great program and fun to inspire the next generation of female runners. See you next month for coffee!
Amanda says
That is so awesome that you coach a Girls on the Run group. I have looked into those. We have a small home school run club. I just did a 5K with my 7 year old a week ago! I love the conversations that go on during a run with the kids, don’t you?
Deborah Brooks says
That’s great that you started your own run club. It is really rewarding and they do say some funny things while running. Congrats on the 5k with your daughter. Thanks for stopping by!
Lauren says
That brunch sounds AMAZING! I too love Bradley Cooper. I hope you at least got a glimpse of him!
Deborah Brooks says
Sadly no Bradley! But lots of fun -maybe next time! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Have a great day!
Amanda says
Great post, I enjoyed reading it. I love the pink bag! It’s SO cute. I enjoy cinnamon in my coffee too and am trying to cut out those sugary creamers. Glad we connected via the Coffee Chat.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks for stopping by! I’m not missing the flavored creamers at all! See you next month for coffee again I hope!
Jen says
I would definitely try coffee with cinnamon! I usually just have the instant coffee packs at work. I know, it’s gross, but I’m having a hard time looking for an actual coffee brew that’s not that strong. Any recommendations? 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
oh instant coffee does not sound good. I have a Keurig machine and I try different flavors and brands out. They make a small size machine for offices maybe give that a try. I especially like Caribou Coffee if you get a medium roast or a morning blend it shouldn’t be too strong. Some brands even have half caff I think. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Appreciate it!
