Surviving The Heat Dome Weekly run down

thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. this week was all about dealing with our heat wave- the “heat dome”. I did the best I could to keep moving without melting.

Weekly Run Down Surviving the heat dome

Sunday-power Pilates

While mostly a rest day at the pool, I did hop into a Peloton Pilates class. These are tougher than they sound and a great core workout.

Monday-Peloton hike + upper body strength + core

Feeling like I am going to get back on my game this week despite the challenging heat. I always feel good after a Peloton hike on the treadmill. I may have done a few laps around the grocery store today to get in extra steps as it’s just too hot to walk outside today.

Tuesday-45 min tread walk + pool running

Thanks to the heat dome, it was too hot to even walk outside. I got in an uneventful Peloton tread walk and then headed to the pool. It was the perfect day to bring out my fluid running system. It took me a bit to remember all the cues but I will get there.

Wednesday-tread hike + lower body strength + hike+ sstanding core

With temps still in the 100’s, it was another indoor workout day. I did a booty targeting lower body strength workout sandwiched between 2 tread hikes. Later, I jumped into a standing weighted core class. While I do love a weighted core routine, I don’t really feel them as much standing.

Thursday-Upper body push strength + hike + power walk

Well it was a cool 94 degrees today which felt a lot cooler than the past few days. After getting in my Peloton strength workouts, I met a friend for a sweaty power walk. It was definitely toasty but doable.

weekly run down

Friday-morning power walk + lower body strength + core + afternoon power walk

After some major thunder storms last night, it was 25 degrees cooler this morning. I had an early power walk with a friend followed by a tough glutes and legs strength and core. Later, I met up with another friend for a second power walk. Today’s step count was stellar!

Saturday-3 mile power walk

It was so much nicer out this morning so I opted for a nice weighted vest walk before taking on the day.

Ugh, the weather sounds awful, but you worked around it and found a way to get in your workouts. Sounds like I picked a good time to be away.

The weather has certainly made it challenging to get outside! I’ve been getting up and out the door very early before things heat up. After today, it looks like we’re going to ‘cool’ down to the upper 80s. I’ll take it! Stay cool!

Wow- 25 degrees cooler on Friday morning sounds LOVELY. Was that the end of your heat wave? I hope you get some decent temps this week! And yes- I know pilates can be HARD. And great for your core. I’ll bet the Peloton ones are great.

I don’t think we will be in triple digits again for a while just the normal hot hazy and humid 🙂

Way to make the most of it! It’s nasty out there, and I’m not sorry that the heat dome will be moving on. All we can do is adjust and stay safe.

Nice work with all those power walks! I don’t think I used my weighted vest at all last week (?), though I did get in a lot of walking. I need to get back in a routine of wearing it more frequently. I agree, the heat (especially the humidity) has been extreme recently! Great job staying active on the daily 😉

Great job getting the workouts done with the heat! I looked at my water belt this week… but nope, didn’t use it! I had to move it to find my pool raft. haha! It is nice to have a pool right now!
