Wow! How is it September already? Maybe that means fall weather is soon going to roll in. Until then, thanks for joining Coco and Me for the Ultimate Coffee Date. I am in New York City this week so I am undoubtedly enjoying a very overpriced coffee today. LOL. These are always my most fun posts to write and read. Grab your favorite mug and let’s catch up!
September Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
One of the things I love most about the running community is the friends that I have made. My closest friends are those that I have made both in person and virtually through running. I am always ecstatic when I have the opportunity to meet up in person with one of my run blogger friends. I had the chance to catch up with the very sweet, Cari over lunch Wednesday. We could have chatted for hours. On Wednesdays we wear pink. I believe she has talked me into registering for the Brooklyn Half Marathon in April. That’s what running friends are for right!? Who else wants to join us?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Exploring cities on foot is the best way to see them. Yesterday, I did a running tour of New York City with City Running Tours. I have done them before here in NYC, in San Francisco, and in Vancouver. I’ve also done something similar with Erica in Chicago. I will share more details about my adventures in the weekly run down and on Instagram. I had a blast running over the Brooklyn Bridge.
We also visited the 9-11 memorial yesterday afternoon. It seemed a fitting time to visit with the 20 year anniversary next week. I did not take any photos. It was really moving and emotional. I highly recommend a visit.
I am on the run today! So, gotta go! If we were having coffee, what would you tell me today? Anything I can’t miss seeing New York? Yes, I have already had amazing NY pizza of course!
Wendy says
Sounds like a wonderful trip to NYC and I’m so happy you got to meet Cari! It is true, I have met my some of my best friends through running.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes me too! Hope to see you next time I am in Chicago again
Kimberly Hatting says
Ahhh, New York City! Sounds like it’s been a fun trip already 😉 Are you going to run through Central Park (That seems to be a thing to do if you’re a runner LOL). Enjoy your time 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Honestly, I don’t love running in the park. It’s super hilly and kind of crowded. I am going to run in Brookly tomorrow so that should be fun
Black Knight says
It sounds like a wonderful trip. I visited N.Y.C. many years ago and I had the chance to do a run there.
I have met many blogger running friends who came here to visit me and my family before going to Rome too. We spent very good time together.
I am sure that NY pizza is amazing but also the Italian one…….
Deborah Brooks says
Nothing better than NY pizza except maybe real Italian food! Would love to get back to Italy one of these days
Michelle D. says
Yay for meeting up with Cari!
A running tour is a great way to take in the city. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
Deborah Brooks says
It was fun to meet up with her she is a sweetie!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Funny. I saw Cari the day before. Runners meet ups are special.
I’ve done city running tours too. One in NYC. They’re great.
Don’t twist my arm. Maybe Brooklyn?
Deborah Brooks says
Yes Brooklyn! That would be fun. I have never done a race here and I’ve always wanted to
Marcia says
Isn’t Cari the best? The last time I was in NYC was on the very long layover coming back from Bermuda in 2020 and our very own Cari kept me company at JFK. I still haven’t seen the 911 Memorial. How have 20 years passed? Enjoy the rest of your stay!
Deborah Brooks says
It was great to see her! She is so sweet. I am really glad we saw the memorial. Still makes me so teary eyed and I hope people don’t forget.
Coco says
It sounds like you are having a great time in NYC. I can’t believe I’m going to Austin (for work) in a few weeks. Business travel— what’s that?
The 9/11 memorial is so powerful. It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it is hard to believe it’s been 20 years. I feel fine flying and traveling and I am sure you will be happy to get away for a few days even if it is for work
MCM Mama says
Have fun in NYC! I haven’t been up there in years, but I’d love to visit again. And I’m jealous you got to see Cari – I haven’t seen her since Bermuda, right before the world shut down.
Deborah Brooks says
She is the sweetest! NYC is always a fun place to visit it is nice to be back
Jenny says
What a fun trip! I can’t wait to hear more about the running tour. And you had a blogger meetup! Sounds like you’re having a blast- enjoy your fancy overpriced coffee!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha thanks! We are having a great time so far
Erica @ Erica Finds says
I miss NYC! Brooklyn Bridge is one of my all time favorite running spots. I used to run there a few times a week when we lived in Brooklyn. I might be convinced to join you and Cari!! Keep me posted.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I’m sure that Cari has already given you great tips on what to see in NYC! Sadly it’s not that often that I actually get there but there’s always something new to see.
You & Cari are matchy-match in a good way.
Enjoy!
Deborah Brooks says
there are always new places to explore here for sure
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I hope you’re having a wonderful trip to NYC! Sorry, I couldn’t join you for coffee this month. Next month for sure!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes definitely it’s a date!
Farrah says
I haven’t yet made it to the 9-11 memorial but hopefully one of these days when I go back to the NY area, I’ll be able to. I’m glad you’re having a great trip over there! :]
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I really am thanks!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
That City Running Tours thing sounds super cool! It’s definitely something I’d love to do one day. Maybe now I’ll be living closer to several locations I’ll do a weekend trip and get one in.
Deborah Brooks says
So where are you moving? The city running tours is a great way to see a new city
