Wow I am so glad to see September arrive this year. I am so looking forward to brisk mornings, jeans and boots and warm coffee of course. Speaking of coffee, thanks for joining me and Coco today for the September Ultimate Coffee Date. These are always some of my favorite posts to read and write. So let’s get right to it-pull up your chair and grab your mugs.

September Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Yes, I went on and on about how much I hated summer running yesterday in my post. Since it was unusually cool this past week, I have had a few really great runs. I am liking running again. Yay! I realized just a few minutes ago that I had my highest bike mileage week (60+ miles) and my highest running mileage week (21 m) this week. Maybe not training for anything is good? Who knows! Bring on the fall weather because this girl is ready to run in it.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am reviewing the 21 Day fix. Yes, this mama who swears she does not do diets is checking it out. I was feeling like I needed a little summer eating cleanup and it came just at the right time. I had 2 rough days to start but I am now on day 6 and it’s pretty easy unless you are eating out. I still kind of miss my chocolate at times but I can do it for 21 days. I will tell you all about it in depth in a few weeks.

September Ulitmate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

The new season of Girls on The Run is starting in a few weeks. I have a great staff of 6 other coaches ready to go and we are meeting up this morning for a run so everyone can meet and bond. I am really excited about it! I also signed up to participate in the Virtual Run For Texas today. Did you catch it on Instagram? It’s $10 to sign up and all the proceeds go to the Texas Diaper Bank and the Red Cross. Last I heard, they had raised over $33,000. Runners really are the best aren’t we?! You can still sign up and run anytime this weekend.

So I’ve gotta run! Busy morning around here! Your turn-If we were having coffee what would you tell me? Thanks for joining us for the September Ultimate Coffee Date today.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

That is a pretty perfect running temp in my book too! Hope you enjoyed it

I like the cooler weather, but not the wetter weather! I’m so picky! 🙂
The support for Texas is heartening — the needs are so great.

Fall is my favorite! I’m so looking forward to jeans and boots. Interested in your take on the 21 day fix. My husband and I tried it a few years ago and only made it about a week. I was always hungry!! I do like the concept of portion control.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 7:01 am

I have not been hungry but I have had to think a little more about what I am eating which I guess is good and bad

I need to check out that virtual! Thanks for the heads up. It’s 48 degrees here this morning!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 7:01 am

48 wow that is chilly! It’s pouring rain again here today this is becoming a pattern 🙂

I seem to have a love hate relationship with running–the hate is definitely related to training for a marathon! This summer, I have loved running. I think because I feel so grateful to be able to do it when everyone told me I wouldn’t be able to.

    Have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 7:02 am

Being able to do something that everyone told you would never be is the best feeling ever! I will never count you out 🙂

I am so with you on loving this weather for running! It has been super nice here- I have never tried the 21-Day but I have heard it’s great- good luck and I look forward to reading your review!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 11:04 am

Yes hoping this cooler weather hangs around a bit it’s much more pleasant to run in

I guess we can already say it’s Fall since pumpkin flavored everything has hit the stores. 🙂 Although it will be a while before we get those cool mornings, at least the humidity is not at the extreme. I can’t wait to hear what you think about the 21 Day Fix. Thanks for coffee!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 11:07 am

yes the humidity dropping is amazing! I have a philosophical ban on pumpkin until October 🙂

  8. Teresa says

    09/02/2017 at 8:04 am

Yes, runners really are a unique community of like-minded caring people! That’s an impressive amount of money!

I’ve often wondered about the 21 day fix …can’t wait to hear all about it. Maybe I’ll give it a try myself as I feel like I need to detox my body from vacation eats!

    Thanks for hosting!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 11:07 am

That’s exactly how I was feeling about summer eating!

I’m looking forward to fall, too. It’s still been triple digits here, and I’m ready for a little cooler weather. 😀 Have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 11:11 am

I really hope it starts to cool down for you too. Don’t know how you run in those temps

  10. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says

Yay for enjoying running again 🙂 It was 53 when I headed out yesterday morning and I was in heaven!

I’m not much for diets, but I am curious to hear what you think of the 21-day fix.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/02/2017 at 11:25 am

Yes we have a really big program of usually over 50 girls. I roped a few of my friends into joining me this season too. Hope you have a great season stay in touch!

    • Deborah Brooks says

  13. Farrah says

    09/02/2017 at 9:08 pm

It’s been all weird and thunderstorm-y here lately and meanwhile, on the other coast where most of my friends are, there’s a massive heat wave where 96 degrees is on the “low” end of the spectrum. Sigh! I can’t figure out this weather!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/03/2017 at 7:39 pm

I know it’s like one extreme or the other!

  14. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    09/03/2017 at 7:14 am

I can’t say I really love the fall-like temps, but it does make for great running. Funny how “easy” it is to run when we’re not training for anything!

Have a great Labor Day! I have my own eating reset I’ve been loving and will share soon.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/03/2017 at 7:39 pm

Crazy isn’t it?! Maybe I should do that more often

  15. Erica @ Erica Finds says

    09/03/2017 at 8:42 am

What’s the 21 Day Fix? A book or online program. My diet needs a clean up STAT!

I am SO excited for cooler weather for running. You know that b/c you’ve been hearing me complain all summer 😉

I have to check out that virtual run!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/03/2017 at 7:40 pm

I have complaining all summer as well! The 21 day fix is one of the Beachbody programs. There is a bunch of info on Pinterest and if you want to hear more let me know and I will connect you with someone

Have a great GOTR season!!! We were in jeopardy of not having enough coaches to have a season. However, I found two coaches last Thursday so the season is on!

I had a hard time with 21 Day Fix. I hope it continues to get better for you!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2017 at 1:14 pm

Yes some seasons I have had more trouble than others finding help. Fingers crossed things are good so far. Have a great season too!
