How is it already time for another Runfessions post?! I am joining in with Marcia to spill all the dirt re things running and fitness. So let’s get right to this September Runfessions shall we?
September Runfessions
I Runfess…I happy to report that running and I have worked out some of our differences and we are getting along much better now. I feel much more positive about my running than I did in August and I am confident that I will slowly regain my pace. I did my first 10K of the year last weekend and it went pretty well! In fact, I just realized that I ran 58 miles in September and biked 53 miles. Have not seen those kinds of numbers in a while and I am feeling pretty optimistic about the fall running season.
I Runfess…I am getting pretty excited about my Ragnar Napa Valley race in November. We will be running from San Francisco to Napa which has to have some of the most amazing views around. Speaking of views, I snagged the runner 2 spot which means I will be running across The Golden Gate Bridge. It will either be the most amazing or most scariest run of my life. Maybe a little of both!
I Runfess…This whole pumpkin spice latte everything is just a little out of control (in my humble opinion). I believe there is now PSL deodorant. Why? Did you know that PSL does not have any actual pumpkin in it? I have a philosophical ban on pumpkin until October 1st. Sunday morning I will be ready to break out some pumpkin pancakes. My favorite Kodiak Cakes have a pumpkin flax seed version that are currently on their way from Amazon.
I Runfess…My swimming has kind of fallen by the wayside the last 6 weeks. It’s been so nice outside that I’ve been biking on the days that I usually swim. So I guess swimming will have to wait a few more weeks until it’s cold enough to go back inside.
I Runfess…I am really excited (and a little nervous) about having my first article published on the Women’s Running site next week. I mentioned to a few of you that I am going to be writing regularly as one of their bloggers. Hope you will check it out on Monday. Spoiler alert: it’s about running.
Coco says
I runfess that I’ve had two PSLs already. And a pumpkin beer. It’s the nutmeg I like! Glad your running is picking up again. I’ve sidelined myself to get rid of this PF.
Deborah Brooks says
The PSL are too much sugar for me! I do like nutmeg though in all sorts of things. My PF comes and goes so I just have to be aggressive on the icing
wendy@takingthelongwayhome says
So I don’t even like pumpkin! I feel the pressure to partake though…maybe I’ll make a pumpkin spice smoothie?
Please post the link for your article. I’m so excited for you!
Deborah Brooks says
You are to funny! there is a lot of pumpkin pressure 🙂 Yes I will post the link thanks for the support
Marcia says
I’m not a huge fan of PSL but I runfess I succumbed to one the other day. It was double star day after all. I haven’t stuck a toe in the pool since my need to pool run ended. Who knows when I’ll get back in? Napa Ragnar is going to be amazing!
Deborah Brooks says
Napa Ragnar is going to be amazing! Lots of logistics but it’s coming along
Kim G says
Wait, there’s PSL deodorant?! That’s just a little cray-cray, haha. I runfess that I do enjoy a PSL every now and then though.
Ragnar Napa Valley sounds amazing!! I’m sure you will have incredible views during your runs.
I cant wait to read your article next week!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes there is deodorant and toilet paper!! Ha ha Definitely excited for Ragnar
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I love Northern Cali! You are right, it is so beautiful. Have a wonderful time!
Deborah Brooks says
I cannot wait! thanks
MCM Mama Runs says
Have a great time at Ragnar. I’m so very jealous, but life was just a bit too crazy and too expensive this summer, sigh.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it would have been fun to have had you on the team-next time!
Paria Hassouri says
I’m jealous about the napa Ragnar situation!! And I don’t like pumpkin spice lattes, although I like most things pumpkin… congrats on WR! Will definitely check it out!
Deborah Brooks says
I was actually going to keep you in mind if we needed another team member for Ragnar. We lost a few and had to scramble for last minute replacements
The Accidental Marathoner says
I must runfess that with the Chicago Marathon just 9 days away, I’m in my usual panic mode thinking I need to get all the training I missed in this week!!! Yay for your #2 Ragnar spot. I’m scheduled to do the South Beach Ragnar in Florida the following weekend, but TBD if the race will go on after the hurricane damage. Right now they say it’s a go, but we will see. Can’t wait to read your first article!
Deborah Brooks says
Wow Chicago then Ragnar?! That is an exciting few weeks for you
Rachel Frutkin says
So many congrats on Women’s Running Magazine. That’s super exciting, Deborah!!!
I’m over pumpkin everything. Everyone got too damn excited about it far too early. It wasn’t even cold out when it started making the rounds!!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks I am excited about it! I agree who wants to hear about pumpkin when it’s 102 degrees out
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
How exciting that you’ll be running the leg across the Golden Gate Bridge!!! You’re going to have such a fabulous time and I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am really excited should be quite an experience
Abbey Sharp says
That Napa valley race sounds amazing. I bet the views are amazing!
Deborah Brooks says
I think they will be!
Michelle says
I agree with your “philosophical ban of pumpkin until Oct. 1”. Although, I did buy an actual pumpkin for the front door. That’s about as much pumpkin as I need right now…LOL. Congrats on your 10K and upcoming article!!!
Deborah Brooks says
yes I need a little more time for pumpkin everything
Karen Bayne says
Congratulations on the writing gig!!!
San Francisco will be amazing 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks and yes pretty excited about both!
Elle says
I caved in to Pumpkin yesterday and had a Pumpkin Spice Frapp and it was awesome. Hot day here and perfect!
Deborah Brooks says
Ah glad you enjoyed it!
[email protected] says
Congrats on the article! That’s so cool! I’m so over pal like 4 yrs ago!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much and yes the pumpkin thing has gone too far indeed
fairytales and fitness says
Congrats on the upcoming article!
I did not know there was PS deodorant! That’s taking it a little far…haha. I’m with you though, I haven’t had anything pumpkin yet, can’t do it till October! -M
Deborah Brooks says
soon though!!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
OK PSL deodorant is a bit much! LOL! I will admit that I’ve already had a pumpkin muffin or two.
How exciting that you’ll get to run over the Golden Gate! The view will be amazing!
Deborah Brooks says
I could not be more excited!
Cyndi says
Congrats on the Women’s Running article! That’s exciting. I don’t like PSL’s but I’ve gone through a few cans of pumpkin already…..muffins and protein balls. I could eat it year round though
Running across the Golden Gate Bridge sounds like fun:)
Deborah Brooks says
I could eat it all year around too I just think it’s a little over done!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I’m so excited about your Women’s Running gig! Congrats again!
I’m really looking forward to following your Ragnar Napa Valley adventures. It sounds amazing!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much and yes I am really excited for Ragnar as well. Should be lots of fun indeed
Susie @ Suzlye says
Congrats on Women’s Running! I’m over pumpkin spice. I’m totally down with pumpkin, but pumpkin spice, I am OVER
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! I know it’s just too much pumpkin overload 🙂
Kimberly Hatting says
I dearly LOVE pumpkin pie (and pumpkin bars with plenty of cream cheese frosting as well), but that’s about where it ends. It really is overkill. I have some pumpkin spice granola bars that I adore…but this past year they were available year-round (even though I may have stock-piled about 10 boxes of them). Honestly, the novelty wore off LOL
Deborah Brooks says
Indeed the novelty has worn off!!
Jenn says
LOL! I don’t boycott pumpkin, but I don’t like PSL, and really the only pumpkin thing I like is a pumpkin curry soup. I don’t even like pumpkin pie! Although I love the smell in candles. Go figure.
I’m glad you worked it out with running. I know we go through hard times with it, but I would be lost without running.
Deborah Brooks says
I love a good pumpkin soup as well! Yes I would be lost without running too but it’s a struggle sometimes which makes it all worth it in the end.
AmyC says
Running across the San Francisco bridge sounds like an amazing experience! And I’m saving my Trader Joe’s pumpkin pancakes for October too – I can’t get into things too early either 😉
Deborah Brooks says
They will be that much better when we do eat them!
Chrissy says
I’m laughing at the PSL thing – I got emailed about a campaign opportunity for pumpkin spice DOG TREATS the other day. What?! I love pumpkin spice as much as the next person but come on people.
Deborah Brooks says
OMG that is a little much!
Anna @ Pipers Run says
So very exciting that you’ll be writing for Womens running! Glad you’ve got your running mojo back!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks on both! I am pretty happy that running is falling back into place again
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
Running across the Golden Gate bridge will be incredible!! I need to put that race on my bucket list. Also, so happy to hear you and running are getting along again!
Deborah Brooks says
I am so excited about San Fran!
Natalie says
You’re on pumpkin rampage also! Hehe we’re on same page then 😀 Wow, congrats on that numbers. And the article. Sounds like fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes a little too much pumpkin too early for me!
Karen G. says
Congrats on the Women’s Running article! That is super exciting!
And when it comes to Pumpkin spice anything, I usually love the first one of the season, like the 2nd, and am pretty over it by the third… until the next year. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it can get a little much for sure!
Mikki says
What a fun runfession. You ran a lot!
Great post!
Deborah Brooks says
I did not realize it until I wrote it but yes I did
Akaleistar says
PSL deodorant does sound like taking things a little too far. Lol.
Deborah Brooks says
it really does! I cannot imagine that sweaty pumpkins smells good 🙂
