September 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
We had so much fun hosting our Favorite Foods of Italy dinner party last weekend. Actually, we had so much fun (and a little too much champagne) that I forgot to take pictures past the appetizers. My husband has been working on his Roman Style pizza (with the Ooni pizza oven) and he really nailed it.
We had my favorite Caprese Salad to take advantage of the end of summer tomatoes.Topped with some fabulous Italian Olive Oil and Balsamic, it was fantastic.
I was really proud of my table arrangements that were my interpretation of our time on the Amalfi Coast. My whole theme was blue and white and lemons of Amalfi. I created menus on canva which were really a nice touch.
We, and by we I mean my husband, has been making homemade Gelato with the Ninja Creami. My kids gave it to him for Father’s Day. It’s so easy, make e too easy to make your own Gelato.(affiliate link)
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I have to admit that seeing all the little kiddos getting on the school bus and all the parents waving them off sometimes makes me sad. All of my own Facebook memories are popping up as well. While those days often felt so long, they went by so fast. I kind of miss all of that school chaos and of course having my kids at home.
Tell me, if we were having coffee this September, what would you tell me?

I’m having coffee as we speak but I didn’t prepare a post this month! Your pizza looks delish! We don’t have a pizza oven, but we cook pizza on our grill and it turns out really well!
Deborah Brooks says
Homemade pizza is fun to make. My husband has turned it into his project alwaystweaking it
Marcia says
Your party table looks amazing! I’d be all over that Roman pizza and caprese salad! Yum! I feel you on the school days flying. It just slips away. Sigh.
Deborah Brooks says
thanks it was fun to host. I know, the time just flies by I am kind of sad about it
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m with you on all the back to school memories! It’s surreal to have all the memories, but nothing “immediate” like that anymore…not a bad thing, but definitely a weird reality. Your Italian dinner party really sounds nice! The decoration look awesome; great color combo and theme!
Deborah Brooks says
I do love to be a hostess 🙂
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Yum on the food. Wouk’s love to be your guest and the table looked amazing.
Sigh on the first day of school pictures.
Eventually I can post granddaughter pix.
Deborah Brooks says
Anytime you are in town! Grand kids are something to look forward to.

Your table looks so pretty! And your husband absolutely nailed the pizza- obviously a pizza oven is the way to go. i’m a little sad you didn’t use liquid plant-based mozzarella (ha ha) but I’m sure it was delicious.
Arg- those facebook memories. I think when my daughter goes to college I’m going to have to delete facebook entirely- it makes me too melancholy!!! I just remembered the day I moved my son into his college dorm freshman year, a facebook memory popped up- I had written “today my ‘baby’ started middle school” with a photo of my 11 year old son… I burst out crying, and I wasn’t even saying goodbye to him yet! Darn facebook.
Deborah Brooks says
ha I can assure you that the plant based mozzarella would not be allowed in our house ever! LOl The FB memories do make me happy and sad sometimes darn FB indeed

Love your table decor! Sounds like it was a fun evening 🙂
The Facebook memories have been hitting me hard lately as all of the back-to-school photos are popping up. Those days seem so long ago…sigh.
Deborah Brooks says
they do seem so long ago and I do miss them terribly!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Wow! You knocked it out of the park with both the table setting and your menu! Yummy.
Let’s just say it’s a good thing my husband doesn’t have a way to make gelato. Neither one of us needs that on the regular, although there’s been far less ice cream consumption this Summer. Not sure it’s made a difference.
Deborah Brooks says
It’s funny bc I am not an ice cream/gelato person but he is!
San says
The pizza looks amazing, really authentically Italian. And Caprese Salad is the best!
Deborah Brooks says
My husband did a fantastic job on the pizza!
Farrah says
That pizza looks so good + I love caprese salad! I haven’t had it in ages but this is a good reminder to make it again!
Deborah Brooks says
so good when the tomatoes are in season

I love the colours you chose for your table decoration! The lemons are a nice touch, I need to remember that for my next invitation.
Did you get the mozzarella at a speciality shop?
