Well, it’s that time again! I am ready to share some September 2023 Runfessions and Confessions. It always feels good to get a few things off our chests right? Let’s get to it! Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
September 2023 Runfessions and Confessions
I Confess and Runfess…
“Ready is a decision, not a feeling”
I have decided to rejoin the Team Wilpers run training program next week for the new session. Do I “feel ready”? No, not really. But, I’ve made the decision to be ready. I am in a totally different place than I was 6 months ago where I was hitting my best paces in years. The hardest part will likely be resisting the urge to compare myself today to myself 6 months ago. I enjoyed this program for over a year and I am craving some more structure. Stay tuned for how this is going in weekly run downs to come.
I confess and Runfess
As you may have noticed, Pilates classes seem to be having a little moment. I have tried a few Peloton Pilates classes recently and dare I say, I enjoyed them. They are kind of a cross between the core and the barre classes they offer. It is always fun to mix things up a bit right? More yoga and now Pilates? Who am I? Stay tuned for a full review soon.
That’s about all I’ve got to confess and runfess today! Hope to catch you at the Ultimate Coffee Date next Friday.

I love that quote- if we waited until we felt “ready” we would never do anything!
Yes- you’ll have to work hard NOT to compare yourself to your old paces. I speak from experience because I still do it all the time, and it’s not fun.
Pilates is great! I don’t know what the Peloton classes are like, but I used to do Pilates and it is a killer workout.
Deborah Brooks says
It is definitely not helpful to compare yourself to anyone especially you at a different phase of life. I am a work in progress
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I love that. I am not ready to run a marathon. But if I waited I may never be. So I’m just doing it.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly
Kimberly Hatting says
I need to give Pilates another try. I must have hit a “lemon” with the one I tried a few months back. I hope the Team Wilpers training goes well! I know how much you’ve enjoyed that in the past.
Deborah Brooks says
I am liking more of a core focus on the Pilates. Will see how it goes!
Marcia says
I think MW is the best. I love running with him. He’s the voice of reason and one can learn SO much from him. I so feel you on the need for more yoga, etc!
Deborah Brooks says
I know my body needs and can benefit from more yoga. I just need to get there 🙂
Jenn says
Very exciting!
I want to try Pilates, but I don’t know if it would work out for me.
Deborah Brooks says
I am enjoying the shorter classes and the core focus. Nothing to lose by trying!
Debbie says
Pilates is such a great workout! And it’s great to hear that you’re getting back into running with Team Wilpers.
I hear you! Not comparing myself with my younger athletic self is hard, but I try to just appreciate where I am today as compared to other 65 year olds.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it is hard and I am sure trying to appreciate where I am everyday
Coco says
That’s another great quote I associate with Jess Sims. As a procrastinator, it hits close to home!
I signed up for the MW fall program, but will have to see how it aligns with what my PT wants me to do.
Deborah Brooks says
I am taking the program very slow and will adapt where I need to
Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s hard to let go of our ego of where we used to be & where we are now (me too!) but we’re happier when we do, right?
I love Pilates (but I don’t do it on Peloton).
Deborah Brooks says
I hope so! Still working on it
