Thanks for joining Coco and me for the September Ultimate Coffee Date today. Coffee dates are my favorite way to catch up with friends. Grab your mugs and let’s get right to it! I’ve got lots to share today.
September Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I have a new pet project for this fall. After noticing that our MRTT group has had a lot of new members that are also new (or want to runners), I formed a new Couch To 5K group for them that I am going to coach. We have a very doable schedule that will conclude with a local 5k at the end of October. So far, we have 9 members and I hope that this will grow and we will have many more runners falling in love with running.
I am starting them off with run/walk intervals and a very doable workout schedule. My hope is that they find the first few weeks very successful and have excitement about carrying on. I will keep you posted!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I just signed up to do an online iPhone Photography class. It is a series of a bunch of different videos that will teach the user how to take advantage of more of the features of the camera and video to create better quality photos. I love learning about how to improve my photo skills and hope this will be a good start. I loved their tips on IG, so I figured why not?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
While virtual coffee dates are great, in person blogger meetups are even better. I will have the pleasure of running with Cari and Coco on Sunday. Cari is visiting DC for the weekend and we are all meeting up for a DC monument run. Stay tuned for lots of photos from all of us. A new addition to our run is Montana (pretty little mudder) who will also be joining us while she is visiting DC.
That’s about it for me today! If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? Thanks for joining the August 2022 Ultimate Coffee Date.

Aww, that’s awesome! That definitely makes it more beginner-friendly. :] I hope they do well + have a lot of fun/stick to it!
The iphone photography class sounds super useful! I have a DSLR but definitely take probably like 98% of my photos with my phone camera instead. (I should really learn to use both…)
Deborah Brooks says
I am excited to learn some new photo tips. My group is off to a great start 🙂
Wendy says
How great that you started that group! They will be lucky to have you!
I’ve considered doing an iPhone photography class. I’ll be curious to hear how you like the one you chose. But you already take amazing photos…
Have so much fun with Cari, Coco, and Montana!
Deborah Brooks says
I will let you know if it is worth it on the photo class. I am just a few videos in so far. Yes I am excited to run w the crew this weekend
Darlene says
A beginning runner group sounds like a great idea.
You know how I feel about a blogger meet up. I think a race cation would be fun.
Can’t wait to see you!!!
I need a new phone. When I get one I may take that course. Looking forward to hearing what you learn
Deborah Brooks says
the new phones are just so much better the camera alone is worth it. Yes, excited to see you as well
Marcia says
All the best with the new running group! How fun to have a monument run together. Blogger meetups are the best!
Deborah Brooks says
they sure are!
Kimberly Hatting says
I would tell you that I’d love to join you and the gals for a DC monument run! I’m looking forward to ALL the pics!! I think a Couch to 5K is a perfect way to get new runners into the sport. I wish I’d have known about it way back when…but my running story/journey all worked out well, despite its late start. Have fun! I can’t think of a more perfect coach 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Mine was a late start to running as well. I hope I can encourage more of our members to get out there and fall in love with running as well. Wish you were here to run w us this weekend too
Coco says
I saw your C25K posts — it’s great that you are doing that.
You already do great with your photos, but I bet you will learn a lot of new tips.
LOL on that photo from April — we definitely won’t be wearing jackets this weekend. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
No jackets, unfortunately! I am excited to run w you all. I am hoping to get more of the MRTT group out and running so far they are off to a good start
Michelle says
That’s great that you started the Couch to 5K group!
Blogger meets ups are the best – I’m long overdue for one! Have fun this weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
yes you are we need one for next year!
Jenny says
Well, I just read Galloway’s book on his run-walk-run method and it sounds like a GREAT way to get a beginner running. Basically if you can walk, then you can run-walk and increase the running intervals gradually. I’ll bet your group will have fun with it- that sounds like a great project!
I need to take an iphone photography course! I’ve thought about it. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it.
Have fun this weekend with your blogger run! I’m looking forward to everyone’s photos.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I do agree that the run walk intervals are very doable for almost everyone at all levels. So far I am enjoying the class. Stay tuned for lots of photos from this weekend. We all need a big blogger meet up next year
Erica @ Erica Finds says
So cool about your couch to 5K group! A fitness group I’m in just hosted a group to do the Stan’s Donut Run and I participated in some of the runs.
I need to check out that iPhone class. I know I can do ALOT more with my pics!
Deborah Brooks says
I always see cool photos and I want to learn how to do them too! Yes, I am excited about coaching them
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Seriously, do you have more hours in your day than I do, LOL? How do you get it all done!
Sounds like you’re going to have a fun run next weekend.
I learned so much from the iphone photography course I took. Enjoy!
Deborah Brooks says
ha, I am actually more productive when I have more to do!
Jenn says
Oooh! I can’t wait to hear about your class! And your coaching! So fun!
So glad you got to meet up with Carianne and Coco! What a great day.
Deborah Brooks says
I am excited to see them today!
Shathiso says
That running group is GREAT! And I love that you want to start them slowly and focus on success and maintaining excitement levels – that will be the secret to keep them going!
I’m reading this when your DC meet up has already happened and my goodness did I have FOMO! That photo of the four of you dressed to the nines in coordinated colours, OMG! Can you tell how excited I am and I wasn’t even there!?
Deborah Brooks says
I hope you can come visit too sometime!
Nicole @ Foodie Loves Fitness says
I love all of this.. How awesome that you’re coaching a 5K runner’s group & taking a iPhone photography course! I’ve done a few photography courses over the years and always have gotten a lot out of them.
Deborah Brooks says
I have learned some great tips so far!
