Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week was about finishing the month of March strong. I had a few wrenches thrown into my week but it all ended on a good note. Between our ski trip and our visit to Chicago, March seems to have flown by! Here’s a peek into my week.
Running out March Weekly Run Down
Sunday- Shamrock Shuffle 8K + fly home
Up and out super early to meet Wendy and 29K of our friends for the Shamrock Shuffle 8K. We had a blast runnnng the streets of Chicago together chatting the whole way. The miles really flew by! A quick change and brunch with my daughter before flying home.
Monday-Peloton cycle + upper body strength + core + afternoon walk
I was wiped after the weekend but also anxious to get back on my schedule. It was a gorgeous day and I took advantage of an afternoon walk as well.
Tuesday-4.5 miles + 2 mile walk and stretch
Oh it was a day today. Towards the end of my run, my son called saying he was feeling really poorly and having some trouble breathing. I literally ran back to my car and met him at the ER. It is really out of character for him to complain of illness and I was worried. My husband had just boarded a train to NY ugh.
The nurses and Doctors were so nice. The ER is a crazy place to be with lots going on. They ran some tests and thankfully it is nothing major. His sinus infection from months ago never healed and is causing pain in the side of his neck. Next stop ENT on Friday. We never stop worrying about our kids! I was so emotionally exhausted after 4 hours there, I came home and collapsed on the couch.
Wednesday-Peloton walk + upper & lower body strength + core + Wall Pilates
Back to our regularly scheduled Wednesday workout. After a good night’s sleep I was ready for a tough workout. I am trying out a Wall Pilates program in addition to my regular workouts. More on that later.
Thursday- 8.1 mile run + stretch
I had planned to get my longer run done today instead of on the weekend. Thankfully the rain stopped mid morning and I headed out. This was my first solo run in forever (I do 99% of my runs with my group). I popped on my new headphones with a few Peloton run classes and got it done.

Later, my friend and I had reservations for a “coffee Omakase” experience. Basically, a fancy way of having a coffee tasting (like a wine flight) with really interesting combinations that I would probably never order. It was fun and very instagram-able. Is that a word?
Friday- Peloton stretch and outdoor walk
Today turned out to be an extra active rest day which was fine after my longer run yesterday. I took my son to the Dr this morning and then went on an afternoon walk in the nice sunshine.
Saturday-3 mile walk + Pilates wall class + stretch
I met a friend for a power walk and catchup before the rain moved in. Ticked off another session of wall Pilates.
Happy Easter to my friends that celebrate!

I’m so glad we were able to run together last Sunday! I loved spending the morning with you. THE BEST!
It never stops, does it? I hope your son is feeling better. Thank goodness for running!
Deborah Brooks says
It was so great to see you and catch up!

What a week?!
Hope your son is feeling better.
As usual you got it all done. Even the solo long run. I hate those.
Deborah Brooks says
It was a week! Yes, the long runs are tough solo when you are used to having company
Debbie says
Welcome home from all that fun travel! That’s good to hear that it wasn’t something too serious with your son. You’re correct, we never stop worrying about our children, and then when the grandchildren come along it brings on a whole new group of little people to worry about.
Deborah Brooks says
yes I am sure it does!
Coco says
What a week, from fun with Wendy and your daughter to worry over your son. I’m glad it ended on a good note.
That coffee experience looks fun!
Deborah Brooks says
The mom worry never stops! The coffee place is fun you should check it out
Jenny says
No, we never stop worrying about our kids!!! Luckily neither of mine have had any health issues, but I’m sure that day will come. I’m glad it all ended well and I hope your son is feeling better.
Wall Pilates??? i’m intrigued. Nice job on getting your workouts in, and I’ll bet that 8 miler felt good!
Deborah Brooks says
No mine are not usually sick either so it was unexpected. Wall Pilates is interesting I will report soon
Susanne says
That’s quite the week! I’m so sorry for the stress about your son – I’m so glad it wasn’t anything more serious. Although sinus infection can get bad enough.
A coffee tasting??! Count me in!!
Enjoy the rest of the Easter weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
It was kind of a crazy week! Thankfully everyone is ok now thanks
Jenn says
Sinus infections are no joke. I’m glad everyone is ok and they got to the bottom of it. But I’m sure that was upsetting.
The coffee tasting sounds incredible. I would be so down for that.
Deborah Brooks says
It was scary for a short time but all is ok now thanks
Kimberly Hatting says
I swear I read this earlier, but I must have forgotten to comment ((oops)). Looks like you had a great week, despite the scare with your son. Hope he’s doing much better!
Deborah Brooks says
He is doing so much better thanks

Good to see your son is feeling better now. My family emergency last week also involved a trip to the ER, except we were there from 1am until 5am. Ugh. A long night, but all is well here too. We mostly just sat around for the last 2 hours waiting to be released. Things run super slow in the ER after midnight!
Hopefully you will have a more “routine” week coming up!
Deborah Brooks says
I feel you and hope you have a better week too
Jessie Benson says
The coffee tasting sounds interesting! That’s definitely a fun idea.
Glad your son is okay. That is stressful!
Deborah Brooks says
It is a fun idea and very different
Liz Dexter says
Glad your son was OK, how scary. Sinus infections really can linger. Glad he has a lovely mum to look after him!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks Liz-no matter how old they get, we still worry
