While out running the other day, I was thinking about what it is that I love about running so much. Sure I love the health benefits and the way running helps me stay in shape, but there is so much more to running than that. I started to think about how How Running Is Like The Best Boyfriend Ever. Here’s why:
Running is always new and exciting
Like a new boyfriend, running is always new and exciting. There is always a new place to run a new friend to run with and new races to sign up for. Running for the first time in the snow has an excitement like a first date. Running on the first beautiful, warm day of the season makes me dream about what is to come.
Running knows how to flirt
Running knows how to tempt you just enough to keep you excited about wanting more. Running dangles all kinds of exciting races with his medals, bling and bragging rights. Once you get a little taste of running, there is no stopping you want running all the time. You can’t have running all the time though-the perfect flirt!
Running doesn’t care if you cheat on him
Running is always there for you whenever you need him but he understands if you need to take a break. Running is okay with you taking a spin class or going to yoga. Running just wants you to feel good and be happy so you can run more. Running knows that he has a certain pull and that you will always well, come running back to him.
Running always leaves you wanting more
Once running has sucked you in, he knows he has you. There is no turning back. Running knows that you can never get enough of him. Running whispers things to you like, “if you can run 6 miles, you can run 10”. You believe him always no matter what.
Running always understands
Running understands that you need to stay in on Saturday night so you can get up early to do your long run with your friends. Running knows you often give up a lot for him and he wants to be there to support you.
Running makes you feel sexy
You know that feeling you have when you just finished a long run and all of your Endorphins are flowing and admit it, you feel bad ass and accomplished. That feeling you have after run when you are hot and sweaty is so addictive and very sexy. Running knows you love it and he is always up for more whenever you want him.
That is why running is the best boyfriend I’ve ever had. Just writing this has me thinking about when I can see him next. Shh! Don’t tell my husband.
Is running your best boyfriend ever?

Lex @ Flecksoflex says
What a fun post! What’s funny to me is that the first image is basically the opposite of my boyfriend and me. He’s so much faster, and gets annoyed with how slow I am lol I would amend the statement though: TRAIL running is probably the best boyfriend I could ever ask for. Trail running just gets me, and it’s okay if I go slow. π
Deborah Brooks says
That works too! Happy running
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
Running doesn’t care if you go to bed at 8pm on a Friday night.

Kathleen says
Sorry I don’t run, I do a lot of hard walking if that counts. I hear you though and you make good sense. I have a friend who is over sixty and she runs at least 6 miles every morning, it helps keep her mind thinking right and she sleeps well at night.
Thanks for sharing these cool thoughts on running with our readers in the Blogger’s Pit Stop (Debbie is awesome)
Deborah Brooks says
Walking definitely counts! Just have to keep moving forward right? Thanks again for hosting
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
HAHA I LOVE this post! Everything you said, while hilarious, is so true! Especially the whole “if you can run 6 miles you can run 10” part. Two years ago I never thought I’d stick with running, let alone run half marathons or any distance longer than a 10k. Yeah, that didn’t last.
I would add that running is also a great problem solver- every time I’ve been dreading something or not known what to do about something a good, long run has gotten me back on track!
Deborah Brooks says
Running is a great problem solver as well!
meljo @ a year in running shoes says
What a great read!! And now that I have rekindled the flame with running, I totally agree!!
Deborah Brooks says
