While out running the other day, I was thinking about what it is that I love about running so much. Sure I love the health benefits and the way running helps me stay in shape, but there is so much more to running than that. I started to think about how How Running Is Like The Best Boyfriend Ever. Here’s why:
Running is always new and exciting
Like a new boyfriend, running is always new and exciting. There is always a new place to run a new friend to run with and new races to sign up for. Running for the first time in the snow has an excitement like a first date. Running on the first beautiful, warm day of the season makes me dream about what is to come.
Running knows how to flirt
Running knows how to tempt you just enough to keep you excited about wanting more. Running dangles all kinds of exciting races with his medals, bling and bragging rights. Once you get a little taste of running, there is no stopping you want running all the time. You can’t have running all the time though-the perfect flirt!
Running doesn’t care if you cheat on him
Running is always there for you whenever you need him but he understands if you need to take a break. Running is okay with you taking a spin class or going to yoga. Running just wants you to feel good and be happy so you can run more. Running knows that he has a certain pull and that you will always well, come running back to him.
Running always leaves you wanting more
Once running has sucked you in, he knows he has you. There is no turning back. Running knows that you can never get enough of him. Running whispers things to you like, “if you can run 6 miles, you can run 10”. You believe him always no matter what.
Running always understands
Running understands that you need to stay in on Saturday night so you can get up early to do your long run with your friends. Running knows you often give up a lot for him and he wants to be there to support you.
Running makes you feel sexy
You know that feeling you have when you just finished a long run and all of your Endorphins are flowing and admit it, you feel bad ass and accomplished. That feeling you have after run when you are hot and sweaty is so addictive and very sexy. Running knows you love it and he is always up for more whenever you want him.
That is why running is the best boyfriend I’ve ever had. Just writing this has me thinking about when I can see him next. Shh! Don’t tell my husband.
Is running your best boyfriend ever?

Love this — and so very true! Although I think I wouldn’t be running without my husband’s support.
Well, not really, but in some ways he definitely makes it easier. ๐
Yes of course having the support of your spouse is key as well!
I think my husband gets jealous of running. And like my husband, sometimes running makes me angry! LOL! Love this post!
Well yes boyfriends can piss you off sometimes too! Running always get forgiven though ๐
I 100% agree with all of this. So, so true!

Running really is like a good boyfriend– never thought of it that way! It totally sucked me in.
He does have a way of doing that doesn’t he?!
Hahahha this is AWESOME! I recently started running WITH my boyfriend. And I enjoy running with him as well as sometimes running without him ๐ Running always leaves me wanting more.
That’s a double bonus that you get to run with your real boyfriend too!
HA HA HA This is fantastic! ๐
Haha so true!
Thanks!
Running definitely always leaves me wanting more. So excited that spring is finally here. Hope it’s here to stay!

He’s kind of into that sometimes ๐ You need a safe word LOL that’s a whole other post
Ha Ha! Yes, I’ll admit to having an affair with running! Running doesn’t care if you stink either. Just sayin’.
That is so true!
This post made me LOL! While I personally am not a runner – I can say that I feel the same way about weight lifting and cycling ๐
absolutely! Works for those too. I hope to pull my bike out this week
This is awesome!
Some days running also feels like a crap boyfriend, but that’s usually because I’m being a jerk ๐
I love this…. all very very true…. really, who needs a boyfriend when you’ve got running!
exactly!
This is super cute. Running is definitely my boyfriend, just don’t tell my husband. ha ha
It will be our little secret ๐

I know!
This is great Deb! Running is a relationship. It takes commitment, loyalty and even forgiveness. Best boyfriend ever!
Yes absolutely!
Very cute! And love the Ryan Gosling memes. I’m missing my running as if it is a long distance boyfriend right now. Didn’t appreciate it as much when I could do it whenever, now that I’m injured I wish I could do it!!
Yes that’s what always happens that’s why we love him! Hope you are healing well and will be back out there soon
Haha! I love this! So true on all counts. Just don’t tell my boyfriend I said that ๐
Your secret is safe with me!
LOL! I run with my boyfriend quite a bit, but now that you mention it, running does have quite an edge! Running definitely leaves me wanting more and is always ready for me when I need it. This is too funny!
Thanks! I thought so too!
Too cute! Running wants you to buy lots of shoes!
He does but I count that as a good thing ๐
running does make me feel sexy and strong ๐
I agree! Great qualities in a boyfriend ๐
Haha I love this! I’m currently on a break with running, but I’m obsessed with the thought of coming back as soon as possible! ๐
Running likes to make us miss him ๐
Hilarious and so true. Love the Deborah. Pinning ๐
Thanks!
oh yeah, that is to funny! You hit it right on the head best boyfriend ever. Getting ready for a race is like getting ready for your prom date- to much fun! Love it! I won’t tell the hubby!
Thanks it will be our little secret!
Love it! Adorable analogy and very true ๐
Thanks! ๐
hahaha this is awesome and so so so true!
Thanks glad you enjoyed!
Haha! Fun post and so true!
Thanks!
What a fun post! What’s funny to me is that the first image is basically the opposite of my boyfriend and me. He’s so much faster, and gets annoyed with how slow I am lol I would amend the statement though: TRAIL running is probably the best boyfriend I could ever ask for. Trail running just gets me, and it’s okay if I go slow. ๐
That works too! Happy running
Running doesn’t care if you go to bed at 8pm on a Friday night.
I know but husband gets kind of annoyed about it! ๐
Too funny. Never hurts to throw in some Gosling either. ๐
Nope does not hurt at all! ๐
Sorry I don’t run, I do a lot of hard walking if that counts. I hear you though and you make good sense. I have a friend who is over sixty and she runs at least 6 miles every morning, it helps keep her mind thinking right and she sleeps well at night.
Thanks for sharing these cool thoughts on running with our readers in the Blogger’s Pit Stop (Debbie is awesome)
Walking definitely counts! Just have to keep moving forward right? Thanks again for hosting
HAHA I LOVE this post! Everything you said, while hilarious, is so true! Especially the whole “if you can run 6 miles you can run 10” part. Two years ago I never thought I’d stick with running, let alone run half marathons or any distance longer than a 10k. Yeah, that didn’t last.
I would add that running is also a great problem solver- every time I’ve been dreading something or not known what to do about something a good, long run has gotten me back on track!
Running is a great problem solver as well!
What a great read!! And now that I have rekindled the flame with running, I totally agree!!
aw thanks!
