Have you ever done an Adventure Run at Road Runner Sports? This past year I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer helping out at many runs but realized that I had never actually participated in one myself. When I was invited to this special Adventure Run for Ragnar Washington DC participants, I knew the time had come to check it out for myself.
This event was a kick off for the Ragnar DC race (September 12th). All registered runners and teams were invited to participate. My team, “Moms Do It All Night Long”, is made up of 12 moms from my MRTT group. It is the first Ragnar race for all of us. 8 of the 12 members of our team were able to attend Thursday night. We are saving our “real” team tees for the race so donned our matching MRTT shirts and headed over to the event.
There were numerous sponsors on hand to offer samples and test products.
-Cliff Bars (shots, bars and gels)
-Tom Tom (offering test “runs” with their GPS watch
-Bondi Bands
-Krave beef jerkey
-Ragnar
and many more

Right on schedule we were ushered outside where a large board is revealed to display the map for tonight’s run. You can also access the map on your phone.
Usually between 8-10 checkpoints are listed on the map. You are encouraged to run to as many checkpoint as possible within the hour time frame to collect as many raffle tickets as possible. It is important to strategize so that you are not running around in circles and can hit as many sites as possible.
Off we went! We made it to Core Power Yoga where we demonstrated tree pose and dancer to earn our tickets
We dropped and gave them 10 push ups at Title Boxing
We slipped and slided our way to more tickets
Did the raw egg challenge and racked up some more raffle chances-no breaks!
We hit a few more stops before heading back to the store for the amazing raffles they had planned
We all won a ton of prizes from shoes, to beef jerky, head lamps, safety gear, edible arrangements, etc. I also won a free month’s membership to Title Boxing-score! I love kickboxing.
We also won one of the team prizes-2 bags full of great gear that we need for the race. Thank you Ragnar & Road Runner. We cleaned up for sure Thursday night. Not pictured here but Road Runner has free beer after their runs as well.
This was a great time and a great way to get psyched for our upcoming Ragnar race. Road Runner Sports has Adventure Runs at all of their locations so check your local store for times and dates. They are always a good time and always have tons of prizes. The runs are free but you get more raffle tickets if you pre-register online. Most of the runs are no more than 4 miles but you can run as much or as little as you wish. Our MRTT group always comes out to participate and many of us bring our kids as well. Looking forward to the next one!!
