Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week, it’s finally time to return to running! it was so and short but it happened. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.
Weekly Run Down Return to running
Sunday- Peloton strength legs and shoulders + barre + cycle + 2.75 mile walk
My workouts were a little off schedule this week due to so much travel. It felt good to finish week 2 of Rebecca’s 5 day split program. I will never be a 5 day a week runner but I can lift weights 5 days a week and feel amazing. The gorgeous temps had me out for an afternoon walk in the sunshine before watching the Eagles beat the Cowboys.
Monday-Peloton cycle + strength chest and triceps + PT and 3 mile walk
Today I hit my 950th cycle class on Peloton. Can I get to 1,000 by the end of the year? I started week 3 of Rebecca’s 5 day split training with the focus on chest and triceps. I’m feeling stronger already so will keep it up. Later, I had a session with new PT who seems to be much more on the ball and in tuned with running. Fingers crossed. Finally, met some friends for an afternoon coffee and walk in our gorgeous fall weather.
Tuesday- Core + Barre + lower body strength and 2 mile walk
Continuing with my Rebecca’s strength program with lower body and core today. I was able to up my weights slightly from last week which felt pretty good. Later, I took a 2 mile walk to and from my polling place.
Stretch of the week: an easy one to do on your door frame
Wednesday- Rest day and yoga stretch
I took a day off from regular workouts today. We had planned a day out with my mom and my friend and her mom who is a docent at Hillwood House. It was a gorgeous day to explore and learn all about the property and museum.
Thursday-3.5 miles run/walk + legs and biceps strength
Yay it finally happened-I ran today! It was slow and short but I am ever so grateful to be on the road to recovery. My PT had me start at 1 min run/1 min walk intervals. Humbling for sure. I am keeping up my 5 day a week strength for a few more weeks.
Friday- Peloton cycle + Back & biceps strength
I had a short but strong workout today before heading out to meet Cari and Coco for lunch. Because all of our birthdays are in the next week or so, it was fun to celebrate together.
Saturday-core + legs and shoulders strength
Finished up week 3 of Rebecca’s 5 day split. I have to say that I am really enjoying doing strength 5 days a week and feeling the difference. So very grateful to be slowly adding running back into my routine.

Yay! So how did the run feel- no pain? I agree it’s humbling to start over but the time goes by quickly and suddenly you’re running your normal miles again. In the meantime you can never go wrong with strength 5x a week!
