Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. Let the adventures begin! At the end of the week, we started our travel fun. But first, I got in as much of my weekly fitness as I could. Here is a peek into my week.
Let the adventures begin
Monday- full body strength + 2x core + 30 min Peloton cycle + afternoon walk
I piled it on hot and heavy today! Lots of strength and double core to start the week. I also did a fun Harry Styles cycle class. There are not too many places that I can walk to from my house, but I did take an exciting walk to CVS to stock up on a few travel supplies.
Tuesday- 6 mile tempo run
I used to detest dong speed work and now I love it! When I see the workouts on paper, they look super challenging and I often doubt my ability to complete them. However, once they are done it is really the best feeling. Today’s run was a rainy one but I will take it over a hot and humid run any day.
Wednesday- full body strength training + core + stretch + Peloton cycle
Packing in some good heavy strength training in advance of our trip. Always feels good to hit it hard.
And, actual packing!
Thursday- 5.5 mile threshold run + stretch
I wanted to make sure I got a solid run in before boarding our flight late tonight. Our favorite rose garden is in full bloom right now and always a favorite spot to run to.
Our flight is direct to Amman, Jordan for 11 hours. Since we leave late at night, I am hoping to sleep for a few hours and try to adjust to the 8 hour time difference.
Friday-Travel to Amman, Jordan
I will still be on my flight most of the day. We will have the evening in Amman to tour around briefly.
Saturday-visit Petra, Jordan 5 miles of walking
Our first day of real site seeing. We drove 3 hours to Petra “the lost city” -a UNESCO world heritage site and new 7 wonder of the world. Also a spot for many movies including Indiana Jones. I could not get all the photos to load here but I did get this reel up so you can see a bunch

I also rode my first camel which was a little scary! We saw the first half of Petra this afternoon and tomorrow we head back to see the rest.
Sunday- visit Petra, Jordan
We will tour the monastery and other picturesque sights today. The pics don’t do it justice it’s really incredible.
Ok I am loving your Jordan photos!! So beautiful. And riding a camel? Wow!! Enjoy the rest of the trip!
It is an adventure so far!
What an amazing trip! I am looking forward to seeing more. Enjoy!
Thanks it has been adventurous so far!
Your trip to Jordan really sounds exciting! I was thinking if you the other day, wondering if you packed those adjustable dumbbells for this trip? 🙂 Enjoy your time!!
Ha no I did not. All of the hotels will have really nice gyms I can use. The first few days will be a lot of hiking and then I hope to be able to get some runs and gyms time in
I agree camel riding is a bit scary! Good thing to check off the bucket list though. Haha! Your reel is amazing. I will live vicariously though you! Enjoy and be safe!
It really is a magical place here and so much to see. We packed a lot into our 2 1/2 days here in Jordan
Oh my gosh, that first day looks amazing! And you look great – I guess you were able to sleep on the plane? How’s jet lag?
Be honest, is that the only suitcase you took? 🙂
First no, are you kidding I have 2 suitcases we are gone 16 days and I need options 🙂 I slept a little on the plane and did have jet lag the first day but I am okay now. after 2 days of hiking I am exhausted!
I can see why you did so many hard workouts prior to getting on a plane for eleven hours! Your pictures are incredible- what an amazing trip. Looking forward to more!
thanks so far so good!
So glad you were able to have two days in Petra. It’s a lot for one, but I was so glad we did it partially vs. seeing it. And then the following summer we saw an Indiana Jones exhibit at the Science Center in Montreal so it was all Indy all the time.
Glad you were able to recover from travel/jet lag. Can’t wait for all the pics.
That’s how I felt re: speed work during marathon training. Daunting but it feels so empowering. I need to get back into it.
Yes, having a second day was nice as we had time to hike up to the monastery today
So happy you’re having an amazing time! I rode a camel once as a kid at some fair. Yeah, it’s definitely different. Can’t wait to hear about it all!
thanks yes, we are having a fantastic start to our trip
Wow, how exciting! I can’t wait to see more of your photos form your travel adventure. I can see how riding a camel would be a little scary at first but hopefully you ended up enjoying it!
not sure I plan on riding any more camels but you never know!
So exciting. Love your pix.
I went to Israel years ago. Only saw Jordan at the border.
Enjoy.
Things are much more open now. Petra was really magical
Loved your reel – looks like an amazing start to your trip! Enjoy!
yes, it sure has been
Your trip looks amazing and I hope you continue to have a wonderful time!
thanks so much we are just getting started!
Oh wow, that sounds like an amazing destination! I didn’t recognize the name, but I do for sure recognize the place from Indiana Jones. Cool!! My family members will each only be packing a carry on and a backpack for our 19 day trip. I am determined to pack only necessities! I’m looking forward to seeing more pictures from your trip. Have fun!
well that is impressive! I am notorious over packer-I like options. Safe travels to you
Camels are fun!
I am so excited for you and all your adventures! I know you are having the very best time and it is so well-deserved! Nice job keeping in motion leading up to and during your trip.
thanks Jenn so far so good
Hope you’re continuing to have a wonderful time on your travels! I’ve been on a camel and I’m not going to say I’d do it again …
It was a little scary!
