If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am really excited to have my daughter home visiting this weekend. We went to the gym yesterday and did a little shopping. Today we are off for a mother/daughter mani pedi. I won’t see her again until Thanksgiving break so I have to fit it all in!

If we were having coffee, I  would tell you…

Girls on The Run started back up this week. This year, in addition to coaching, I am “running” the whole program at the elementary school. The first week is always a little hectic but I am excited to get know all of the 41 girls we have this session. I just love to see how they progress throughout the weeks leading up to our team 5K.

I am so looking forward to yoga pants season again. LOL Don’t get me wrong I love all of my summer skirts and tanks but I am ready to just be a little more comfy in my yoga pants. I even get annoyed when I have to wear real clothes. What did we do before yoga pants were a thing?

We are moving next weekend. Our new house is just a mile away but seriously what a stressful pain in the a** moving is! I love our new house and I can’t wait to start creating in the new kitchen too. A bit of advice: don’t wait 15 years to clean out closets or garages. Trust me!

Tell me- Do you live in yoga pants all winter?

Ok I’ve been chatting away! Your turn-if we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

So many things to congratulate you on! Way to go on running the elementary school Girls on the Run session. They are lucky girls. And the new house! I just moved this year after living in the same house for 10 years. It’s brutal packing all of that up. We threw out and gave away so much stuff. Trying to keep it minimal now in the new place. Hopefully it doesn’t start slowly building up again. Yay for yoga pants/leggings weather!!!!

      10/01/2016 at 8:47 am

Yes moving is a total chore and like you, I am trying to get rid of stuff. Not easy!

  2. Coco says

    10/01/2016 at 7:42 am

Good luck on your move! It doesn’t matter if you’re just moving around the corner – it’s a ton of work! Make sure you know where you coffee maker is at all times. 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 8:48 am

Oh yes that coffee maker will be the last thing I pack and the first thing I unpack for sure. 🙂

I love mother daughter time, and my girls look forward to days like that. Glad you could enjoy your daughter !

I haven’t worn jeans for years… my mid life body just can’t find any that fit well, so I live in comfy yoga or athleta pants on the weekends.

Why are you moving ? Just a mile away ? Wow, that is a ton of work for going such a short distance ! Good luck.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 6:07 pm

Jeans are really annoying! Yes ton of work and too long to type here 🙂

Congrats on your new home! It’s amazing how much little stuff you forget you have when you are forced to go through it all. Especially in the kitchen! Moving is so stressful but the new end result is worth it. Good luck with your new home!
I am having a hard time letting go of summer this year. But I do love my yoga pants and fall boots!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 6:07 pm

Yes it will be worth it but wow what a pain!

Awww how sweet to have time with your daughter. My older one is a hs sophomore but time is already flying and I know she’ll be outta here sooner than later. What did we do before yoga pants?? Sweats? All the best with your move. That’s so exciting. And exhausting too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 6:09 pm

Time really does fly by with the kids. I wish I could just freeze them (and me ) LOL

Enjoy this time with your daughter! I’m with you I love this time of the year cause I can be comfortable and look cute! I adore wearing yoga pants and running leggings to work. I’ll pair it with boots and a cute sweater or cardigan!
Thanks Deborah for the link up and coffee! I’m on my second cup now. Got a late start this morning cause I had a 9 mile training run on the schedule! 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

Enjoy your time with your daughter!! And, good luck with moving – I tell my husband all the time that I don’t think we’ll ever move cause I cannot face cleaning out our basement! LOL!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 7:52 pm

  10. Farrah says

    10/01/2016 at 12:38 pm

Aww, I hope you and your daughter have fun today! :] I don’t get to see my parents til December, but it’s coming up a lot faster than I would’ve thought!

Yoga pants season is the best, haha. I love summer, but it’s super humid on the east coast so I’ve missed being able to wear yoga pants! At least I can return to that now! 😛

I hate moving with a burning passion–I hope everything goes smoothly with yours!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 7:54 pm

I am sure your parents miss you as much as I miss my baby girl! Time does go by very quickly though

  11. Lex @ Flecks of Lex says

    10/01/2016 at 12:45 pm

I wish I could live in yoga pants or sweat pants all winter! Unfortunately, I have to dress up in business attire most of the week. 🙁

Yay to having your daughter home for the weekend! Thanksgiving will be here before you know it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 7:55 pm

I try to avoid wearing real clothes whenever possible 🙂

Sounds like a fun weekend with your daughter. I have been looking in to Girls on the Run lately. There really isn’t a site near me that’s convenient and I have been thinking of researching starting one up. Would love to chat with you sometime about it and hear about your experience.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 8:03 pm

OH yes! I would be happy to chat with you about it anytime (after my move )

I’m excited for when my daughter is a little older (10 now) and wants to workout with me sometimes….. I live in legging jeans in the winter…. I wear my yoga pants mostly just at yoga…. Before legging jeans, I have no clue what I used to wear!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 8:04 pm

She will grow up faster than you imagine! I wish I could freeze both my kids (and myself of course!). I have no idea what I wore before yoga pants either

  14. Janice @ Salads4Lunch says

    10/01/2016 at 7:06 pm

Everything is coming up Deborah! Sounds like a lot of awesome things are happening for you right now. I can’t wait to see pics of your new place!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 8:05 pm

Ah thanks! I am really excited about the new house but this whole moving thing is quite stressful

  15. Missy - Getting Fit to Find Myself says

    10/01/2016 at 7:41 pm

Yes, I live in yoga pants! In fact, I even sneak them into work rotation with a long sweater!

You are so awesome for running the entire GOTR program at your school! I was introduced to the program two years ago and this year I finally stepped up! I am the head coach at my local school and I am loving it! I am amazed at how the girls can change a really crappy day into a really awesome day.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/01/2016 at 8:06 pm

Yes exactly! I honestly love coaching them and so glad to hear that you are enjoying your program as well. The girls really benefit so much from the lessons and the group.

    Thanks for hosting the link-up!

Awww…I bet you miss your daughter so much! Selfishly, I’m glad my oldest is home but I sure would have been proud if he went to college. It’s so bittersweet.

I can’t even imagine packing this place for a move…we need to start purging! Good luck!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/02/2016 at 2:52 pm

Yes I do miss her a lot but I know she is happy. Packing is a nightmare but will be so happy when we get there.

  19. HoHo Runs says

    10/02/2016 at 3:23 pm

You know what? I don’t think I have any yoga pants, maybe some old sweats. I need to fix that pronto. You’ll be great as the head coach for Girls on the Run! Mani/Pedis sounds like the perfect way to spend time with your daughter. Thanks for the linkup.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/03/2016 at 7:03 am

Sweat pants same idea but you can get away with looking semi dressed in the yoga pants 🙂

  20. Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says

    10/02/2016 at 7:47 pm

Oh my goodness, good luck with the move.
I have been in the same home the last 12 years just because I HATE moving!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

I’m looking forward to yoga pants season too… oh, and running in capris and tops with thumbholes.

Moving is such a chore, we had a period where we moved about once every year… needless to say we purged a lot.

Yes to all the good stuff!!
