This past month totally flew by for me! I cannot believe it’s time for the October Runfessions already but here we go let’s do this. I’ve got a few things to Runfess this month.
October Runfessions
I Runfess…
I could not be more excited for our Ragnar Napa Valley race next weekend. This same race was cancelled last year due to the fires in the wine country area. So, technically we have been planning this epic weekend for over a year. Flights are booked, bags are packed, running shoes on and team “Moms do It All Night Long” is ready to well do it all night long. Stay tuned for lots of photos of the epic weekend ahead.
I Runfess…
I am feeling a little underprepared for said Ragnar and my upcoming Philadelphia half. That calf strain I sustained a few months ago really set me back in my training. The most I have run is 10 miles so that half might be a little stretch. I know I will make it through but might not be too pretty.
I Runfess…
.I am really liking the run walk intervals more than I expected to. My running crew has been doing them with me on my runs and we all feel like our recovery is easier. I plan to keep them up until after Philly and then see what happens. Being able to up my mileage each week without calf pain is certainly worth the slightly slower paces.
I Runfess…
I cannot believe that my Girls on The Run season is half way over already. The girls are all loving the program and it is so heart warming to see them all improve their stamina each week. The other day they wanted me to teach them how to do a group jump shot. I tried to explain to them that this is no easy task. Clearly we need to work on it!
Don’t miss the Ultimate Coffee Date link up next Friday and all next weekend with me and Coco. What are you Runfessing this week?
Linking up
Wendy says
Run/walk intervals for the win! Although I’ve embraced them, I still wouldn’t mind if I could run without them.
Deborah Brooks says
I have no idea what will happen when I try to run without them again. I am waiting until after Philly to give it a try
Coco says
You are so ready for Ragnar! I am more than a bit jealous.
A lot of women in the Alex/Arl MRRT group do intervals and swear by them. I have a hard time switching gears like that.
Deborah Brooks says
you know I never thought I would like the intervals as much as I have. We will see what happens after Philly half. I might just start all over and try to run without them
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
I can’t wait to see all of your pictures from Ragnar Napa! With last year’s race being cancelled I’m sure you’re all that much more excited for the race this year.
I really need to look into GOTR near me. I think it would be such a fun way to volunteer.
Deborah Brooks says
Really GOTR is such a fabulous organization to work with.If you have the chance to volunteer, you won’t be disappointed
Debbie says
Group jump shots are a challenge! My hubby and I have a hard time coordinating and there are just two of us!
You are going to have so much fun in Napa! I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am so excited!
[email protected] says
I love run/walk intervals as well! I always feel like I could go on for ever and the recovery is so much better.
Deborah Brooks says
I agree and I wish that I had tried them out sooner
Kim G says
So excited for you to do that Ragnar race in Napa! I’ve hear that’s such a pretty area so I’m sure running there will be epic.
I also runfess that I’m a bigger fan of run/walk intervals than I thought I would be. I agree that it does help with the recovery too.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am so excited to get out there next week.
Marcia says
Aww that jump shot is precious! Can’t believe it’s been a whole year since Ragnar Napa was cancelled. Here’s to it all going off without a hitch. All the cool kids are rocking the walk intervals…just saying…
Deborah Brooks says
ha I guess they are! 🙂
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
Have so much fun with the team! I totally understand feeling unprepared for a race – but I did Berlin on only a 10 mile run, so I think a half is doable! Maybe just readjust goals for the race.
Deborah Brooks says
Honestly my only goal for Philly is to finish!
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m runfessing that I wish I could stow away in your suitcase for your Ragnar adventure! I’d love to do a Ragnar someday…maybe with some of my fav blogging gals 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I would love that! to Both!
Akaleistar says
The Ragnar Napa Valley run sounds like it’s going to be a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so excited to get out there and run it
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Ragnar will be so much fun! And I’m glad the intervals are working so well for you. This fall really is flying by!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks and it sure is!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Run/walk intervals are the only way I’m running now – glad they’re working for you! Your Ragnar race will be so much fun!
Deborah Brooks says
I hear that all the cool kids are doing intervals! You will get back there we both will.
fairytales and fitness says
Good luck to you and all the moms at your upcoming ragnar! I would think this is the type of race that people just do for the camaraderie and not really for time!
Thanks for linking up with us. We hope to see you next week as we continue to Friday Link Up. -M
Deborah Brooks says
Oh yes definitely just for the fun of the race not a time thing for us anyway
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I really do love my run/walk intervals too! If only I could find someone to do them with me (at my pace).
If you ran 10 miles, you’ll be fine for your half. I have no Ragnar experience, but Napa is beautiful — good luck & enjoy!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I hope so! Yes very excited for Ragnar should be a blast
