      • I’ve always wanted to like oatmeal but I never really knew how to make it and well honestly, I’ve never really liked it. I know it’s great for lowering cholesterol and fueling those long runs and workouts. So what’s a girl to do??
      • Well…Luckily I have a network of fabulous blogger friends who offered up a couple of their more basic recipes for me to test out. Let’s see what they came up with!
      • Nicole @ Fitful Focus (and today’s host) sent over this simple recipe with added peanut butter and jelly. Anything with pnb wins in my book! I am giving this one a try. Pb & J Oatmeal
      • Janet @ The Taste Space has a seasonal Whipped Banana Oatmeal with cranberry that looks easy enough and super tasty.
      • So “Doc in training” Farrah aka FairyBurger offers up an interesting addition of silky tofu to up the protein in her 5 ingredient protein Oatmeal bowl.
      • Suzy @ suzlyfe adds a little egg white into her Cherry Apple Pie Protein Oats to bump up the protein.
      • AnnMarie @ TheFitFoodieMama always knocks out of the park with her recipes and this Blueberry Oatmeal breakfast bake made in ramekin does not disappoint.
      • Jill @ JillConyers offers up her “overnight oats” with an  Easy Afternoon Strawberry Oats
      • Morgan @ WildlyFit has a really creative combo of zucchini, peanut butter & chocolate. Sounds interesting! Chocolate Zucchini Oatmeal
      • Sam @ Pancake Warriors has you covered if you are looking for some almonds & coconut. Check out her Almond joy overnight oats
      • My friend, Kelli @ Destination Cortina eats her oatmeal at her desk each day or on the go. She suggests using plain unsweetened instant oatmeal & dressing it up with cinnamon, dried blueberries, bananas, pnb & almonds. Healthy options for the on the go! Thanks Kelli!
      • Hmm all these yummy recipes have me thinking it’s time to re try oatmeal again. Seems like a perfect fall breakfast to power me through my morning workout. Thanks to all of my friends for offering me such tasty looking options to test out over the next few weeks.
  • What looks good to you? Oatmeal lover?
      • I am linking up with Nicole for Fit n Fashionable Friday today. Program note: next week I will be hosting Fit n Fashionable Friday for Nicole. Woo hoo so excited! Hope to see you all there.

Lots of creative options here! Thanks for sharing, Deborah! I may attempt the zucchini one this weekend. This change in weather makes hot oatmeal seem very appealing for breakfast.

I make overnight oats with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, hemp hearts and raisins, and then microwave before eating.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/02/2015 at 2:21 pm

That sounds good. I thought people ate overnight oats cold and that just does not appeal to me.

  15. heather says

    10/02/2015 at 1:39 pm

I am just an ordinary girl in and ordinary oatmeal world. I love plain oatmeal with a huge glob of peanut butter….or maybe I like a glob of oatmeal in my peanut butter. These look delicious thanks maybe I will leave my comfort zone and try one. Have a great weekend.

    • Deborah Brooks says

So either did I which is why I asked for help. I tasted it a few times and never really liked it but I want to

  18. Katie @ Gettin' My Healthy On says

    10/02/2015 at 3:11 pm

It never ceases to amaze me how creative people get with oatmeal. These versions look like delicious! I definitely need to mix it up from my usual peanut butter and banana concoction.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/02/2015 at 9:29 pm

Peanut butter banana sounds like a good place to start though how can that be bad?

  19. Sarah says

    10/02/2015 at 3:43 pm

Of course I love oatmeal! Such a great way to warm up and fuel up in the cold months. Of course there are overnight oats, oatmeal cookies, and a million other things we make with oats (like my Pumpkin Crisp today) but there is something so comforting about a big warm bowl of oatmeal on a chilly morning, it’s like a warm hug and great start to the day!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/02/2015 at 9:32 pm

I could just eat oatmeal cookies for breakfast! that would count right 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

Me too! I am determined to like them

  22. Debbie @ Coach Debbie Runs says

    10/02/2015 at 6:05 pm

When I was a kid my mom would make it with milk, add an egg, and beat it until it was smooth and a little thin. Then she’d top it with brown sugar. That’s still my favorite, if not the healthiest, way to eat oatmeal. Nowadays, I don’t use egg or milk, nor do I take the time to beat it, but I still love my brown sugar! 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/02/2015 at 9:37 pm

      What’s not to love?!

  23. Kristy @Runaway Bridal Planner says

    10/02/2015 at 7:29 pm

Your going to laugh, so earlier this week I had this coupon thing come in the mail for one of those Emergency Prepardness places and they are giving 50 pound bags of quick oats for only $19.95, and since I eat a lot of Oatmeal in the winter, this sounded like a not to be passed up on deal, so that is where I am headed at 10am in the morning, LOL
And I might even get 2 bags, since the stuff stores and lasts forever:)
But with 50-100 pounds of oats, I could use a few ideas, I am going to try some of these! If I could take awesome looking food pics like you’d I’d post them, but I swear my food pictures never turn out looking all that great!
    Have a great weekend!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/02/2015 at 9:40 pm

ok that is hilarious and a lot of oatmeal. Maybe you should package it up and give out to your friends or send some to me! Enjoy.
