November 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date

November 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Since I am continuing to rehab my hip and glute, I am doing a lot more strength training. In fact, I’ve been working my way through Rebecca’s (Peloton) 5 Day split training program. I am doing heavy weights 5 days a week coupled with walking and Peloton cycling.

Previously, I was doing 3 days a week of strength training. Increasing my strength training to 5 days a week feels better than expected. This split program pairs specific muscle groups together on certain days. For example, day one is chest and triceps. Day 2 is legs and core etc. I am enjoying this type of training vs a full body strength class. I am hoping these extra strength days will help me stay stronger as I nurse my hip back to health. I am going a little nuts not running.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Thanksgiving is always my favorite holiday. I love hosting, cooking and setting up for our family and friends of 20+. This year, more than ever, I am so looking forward to gathering with my family and friends and giving thanks for al that I have been blessed with. 2023 has been challenging in so many ways and I can’t wait to hug those that I love. I would also ask you what you are doing for Thanksgiving this year?

thankful and grateful
The whole crew! 2022

Your turn! If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? What’s on tap for your November 2023?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Yay for strength training! I’ve been [slowly] getting back into that again! :]

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays too — food + good company is hard to beat!

I’m going to check out that program of Rebecca’s soon; sounds like it’s a great fit for you! Hard to believe we’re already into November! I gotta start the Thanksgiving planning, and let’s not forget about the local turkey trot – this is year #12!

I do really like the program and not having to choose my classes. I also believe it’s good to mix up training every few months

Glad you are enjoying your workouts. Hope you are able to resume running soon.

I used to host Thanksgiving. In recent years my MIL doesn’t like to go out and we go there. A lot easier but not as much fun nor is the food good.

November is marathon month. And a few more races if I survive.

2023 has been quite a year for you. Most of my stresses have been with family members health issues, but I still feel worn out.

I am so glad you are loving RK’s split. It sounds like a great program and can only help your rehab. I am babying my hamstring back into action — fingers crossed.

It has been a very stressful year all around. Doing my best to make it through!

It’s great to hear you’re enjoying the extra strength work! Breaking it up that way is key. Your Thanksgiving plans sound wonderful. I runfess I’d much rather host than have my MIL do everything, which she insists upon. Oh well. The hatred in this world toward Jews is unspeakably difficult and I too am doing my best to lean in to family and friends I love. Hugs to you!

Thanks Marcia it has been a really stressful few months and year. Hugs received and returned

I need to check out that split program – I feel you on the no running!

It’s great that you’ll be hosting Thanksgiving – my brother usually hosts but I’m thinking of swapping holidays with him since it looks like my kitchen will still be in tact (definitely not by Christmas).

The strength programs have been really great for me. I like the set schedule and leaning into strength is always good. If you are not ready for 5 days, JJ’s 3 day was also a favorite

You are a Thanksgiving rockstar! I can’t even imagine hosting that many people. But it sounds like you enjoy it. I also love Thanksgiving.
Getting stronger can only be a good thing- it will always pay off down the line. People who are really into body building don’t like too much cardio (my son was actually chided the other day for being on the bike at the gym!). So we’ll just call you a bodybuilder for now, until you get back to running. : )

We do love Thanksgiving and I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I used to be such a cardio girl and then fell in love with strength training. Yes, being stronger is always a plus

I need to do some extra strength training! I’m glad you’re on the road to recovery.

We’re going to Iowa City for Thanksgiving. We have some very good cooks in the family. I’m looking forward to it, too!

well that sounds fun and different! Yes, I am working my way back and strength feels good right now

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving too! Our family is small but we love it. We also have a Friendsgiving with a group from church and that is always fun too.
