And just like that, another month is coming to end. It’s time once again for some new year confessions and runfessions. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
New Year New Confessions and Runfessions
I confess and Runfess…
It’s been a hot minute since I have run a race. You may recall, last year was very challenging for me on the running front and I ended up not running a few planned races. Moving on as they say! It’s time for me emotionally and physically to jump back in and pin on that race bib.
Next weekend, I will be running the For The Love 10K with a few of my run squad. Am I ready? Who knows! I’ve been working my way back up to the 6 mile distance with intervals. I know I can cover the miles and I also know it won’t be at the pace I previously ran them.
Right now, my only goal is to finish in one piece. Someone remind me I said that afterwards! It’s time to jump back in there with my friends and do what I love. Plus, you all know how much I love a love a holiday themed race. Stay tuned for my recap coming soon.
I Confess and Runfess…
While I really did have “snow” much fun frolicking in the snow covered landscape most of last week, I have had enough and I’m officially over it. It was pretty and cozy, not to mention fun to whip out all the clothes but that got old fast. I did not enjoy the inconvenience of not having our trails to run on. First world problems, I am aware. But hey, it’s my confessions post after all.
I am happy to wait until we hit the slopes in Colorado for my next snow adventure. The cold temps don’t bother me, in fact I kind of prefer them but I can do without the messy snow. And that is all I’ve got for you today!
See you next week for the February Coffee Date! ☕️

I’m with ya on the snow (though you did seem to enjoy it much more than I did, just saying). After one day, I’m good for the next 51 weeks 😉 I Hope all goes well with your upcoming Valentine race!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha I really did enjoy it for a week and now I am done 🙂
Debbie says
Oh how exciting that you’re doing For the Love of It next weekend! That’s the race where you and I met for the first time several years ago. For a fleeting moment I thought I’d join you, but then remembered I have to take my mom to some doctor’s appointments next Friday and won’t be back home in time for the race. Have fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I do remember that we met in person after the race many years ago. That would have been fun to see you there again. I like a low key smaller race although it is hilly 🙂
Marcia says
Have so much fun at your race! Love a good Valentine’s Day theme too! We got a ton of snow (20+”) and it was lovely. But the -45 windchill wasn’t fun and now we have rain and fog on top of it all and it’s pure gloom. I’m ready for spring!
Deborah Brooks says
WE don’t get that crazy wind chill but I hear all about it from my daughter and her pup who is not a fan
Coco says
Yay for doing that 10K. I can’t wait to see your race outfit!
Love your snow gear — you will enjoy wearing it more on the slopes when you’re not trying to run anywhere. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
yes it will be more fun on the slopes for sure. Maybe I can just wear the race outfit and walk around and not do the hilly 10K-lol
Jenny says
Ooh, a race! Yes, just keep in mind you’re doing what you love with your friends and don’t pay attention to your time. It’s going to be different and that’s okay. If everyone waited to be in peak condition before a race, there would be few people out there. I hope it’s fun!!!
Yep, snow is great for about two days. My kids are so mad they were “forced” to grow up in Florida with no snow. I keep trying to convince them that in reality, snow is not that much fun.
Deborah Brooks says
It should be fun to be back out there with all of the crew. I grew up in South Florida too until age 12 but we did used to go up to Vermont to ski. The grass is always greener as they say!
Darlene S Cardillo says
Hooray for a race! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.
I know exactly how you feel. I’m crawling my way back slowly with run/walk. Not sure when or if I’ll be ready to race. My goal is March.
Deborah Brooks says
I would not call myself race ready but I will manage to make it through
Melodie says
That is exciting about your race! I am hoping to do the Hot Chocolate 10k here in Nashville at the end of February… hoping the weather cooperates! I am with you on the snow. I like it for a day or two, three max and then I am ready to get back to normal!!
Deborah Brooks says
the hot chocolate races are a lot of fun!
Michelle says
How fun to have a race on the horizon! Good luck and most importantly, have fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Still a little nervous about it but I will make it through!
Jenn says
I do love seeing all that snow! It would be so nice to get some here, just for a few days. I am definitely enjoying the colder weather right now, and I want it to last.
Deborah Brooks says
It is so much better to run in isn’t it?!
Cari says
You are ready, and will have a great time with your friends. You’ve go tthis my dear.
While I like that snow means less wet, I’m similarly over it unless I can look at it from the window.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks my friend!
