How much fun is it to look back on all that you have accomplished the past year in your running shoes? This year, my running shoes came along on some really fantastic adventures. We saw different cultures and customs and earned a lot of frequent flyer miles. Join me to take a look back on some of my 2022 highlights.
My Year in Running 2022
January
We have spent the last 7 years traveling to and from the beautiful Indiana University campus to visit both of our kids. There is something so invigorating about running through a college campus even in the middle of January. I am going to miss this place.
February
I dove into the Wilpers Run Training Program full steam which ended up completely changing my running for the better.
March
I trained hard for the Asheville Half Marathon and ended up getting a PR besting my own time from about 10 years ago.
April
The Cherry Blossom 10 miler is always one of my favorite local races. The weather was just perfect this year.
A new to me local race, The GW Parkway Classic 10 miler 2 weeks later brought another unexpected PR for the year. Again the weather was just perfect!
May
May was a busy month! We celebrated our son’s college graduation with a big trip to the Middle East. One of my favorite photos of the trip was this one in Abu Dhabi at the famous mosque.
June
Our trip continued with stops in Dubai, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. I ran in all 3 cities and soaked in the different cultures and sites.
Sweating it out in Dubai
Just in time to recover from my jet lag, I attended a conference in Houston with my Small Biiz Social Media group. Lucky for me, I found an 8K race to hop into.
July
July was another busy travel month for my running shoes. I jumped into a 10K in Chicago while visiting my daughter.
Next it was off to NYC for a run through Central Park with Cari.
Another last minute Passport opportunity. We visited the South of France and parts of the Italian Riviera. My running shoes had a great time there.
August
August had me running happy with Wendy and the Brooks Run Happy Team in Park City, Utah.
September
Coco and I had a chance to be tour guides to Montana and Cari on our DC monument run. It was such a hot day but so much fun to run with these ladies.
October
October came so fast and so did the Maine Half Marathon. What a beautiful course.
November
November was another busy travel month. I had a blast exploring the other side of Las Vegas on my run tour.
December
December has me back in Aruba with the family where we enjoy celebrating the holiday season.
My running shoes and I racked up some serious miles and frequent flier miles this year. It is always so much fun to look back on my year in running and traveling and smiles. I am forever grateful to my body for cooperating this year. And, I am excited to see what 2023 brings for me and my running shoes.
Thanks for helping to make the Runners’ Roundup a huge success by visiting all of the hosts: Me, Debbie, Jen, Lisa

What a super year, well done! I’ve had a bit of a weird one, apparently I haven’t run further than 9 miles in a run all year, and I missed my 1000 mile target by loads when I hurt my back and had to have a pause, so I haven’t been worried about that but it’s odd to have a low mileage for me. I wish you more colourful and friend-filled running for 2023!
Deborah Brooks says
I am not going to hit my 1000 mile goal either I don’t think. Oh well, we are still amazing! Hope you have a fantastic year ahead as well
