It’s that time again! The last week of the month is the time to “Runfess” all that is running and fitness related and get it all out there. I’ve got lots to share today so let’s get to the May Runfessions. This post is sponsored by Kleenex but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

May Runfessions…I Runfess…

May Runfessions

I have such mixed feelings about the end of our Girls On The Run season every time. I am so happy and proud of all of the girls for their hard work all season. Seeing their huge smiles as they cross the finish line of the 5K race is priceless. It was also so fantastic to see so many dads at the race this year supporting their girls. On the other hand, I admit, I selfishly miss them during our off season. Some of my girls graduate to middle school so I will not have the opportunity to coach them again.

May Runfessions…I Runfess…

I heard a bunch of my favorite bloggers talking about running Rock n Roll Chicago in July and got a serious case of FOMO. I am happy to report that I will be joining them! Yay! I have not been to Chicago in over 20 years and I’ve never run there. I am so excited to meet everyone in person. Who else will I see running in Chicago?

Westfield's Sprint triathlon| May Runfessions

On a whim, I just registered for another sprint triathlon tomorrow. Yikes! My next one is not until mid July and I did not want to wait that long in between. I will doing the same course tomorrow as I will be doing in July. Thought it was a great opportunity to have data to compare from the same course. Who else is racing this weekend?

In case you missed my Summer Essentials post earlier this week, I’ve been going through these Kleenex wet wipes like there’s no tomorrow. First all the rain, then all the humidity. They are perfect to quick post run workouts. You can grab yours right here on Amazon

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I haven’t been to Chicago since I was in middle school. I love how RnR has 10k options, but July is such a busy month at work for me, with fiscal year end work to do.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/25/2018 at 2:08 pm

July is my only month with nothing going on. I am so swamped right now!

  9. Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says

    05/25/2018 at 10:38 am

I runfess that I have definitely signed up for races because of FOMO. I also would have mixed feelings about the end of GOTR when I coached in Milwaukee. One of my runfessions is that I loved having the off time before training stated Berlin training

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/25/2018 at 2:09 pm

Yes it’s always nice to have time off between training cycles. I hear Berlin is such a fun race venue

  10. Wendy says

    05/25/2018 at 12:25 pm

I’m so excited for RnR Chicago this year! So many fun people are running it. Last year it was just me and K Swizz.

Good luck on your Tri! No, I am not racing this weekend. Next weekend . . .

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/25/2018 at 2:11 pm

I am way overdue for a vacay as well! We have one in a few weeks w the whole extended family but not sure how relaxing that will be 🙂

I’m still new to Triathlons and sticking to only one (or two) this year, but I’d really love to get to do more in the future, it’s just kind a hard when you have small children!

Also, it’s kind of fun that you’ll meet all those other bloggers in Chicago!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/25/2018 at 4:47 pm

gosh yes it’s harder when you have little children! They are very time consuming

  20. Coco says

    05/25/2018 at 6:56 pm

Oh, wow, good luck tomorrow! A friend at work just told me she’s doing a sprint tri in Reston next weekend. Yet, I still don’t have FOMO. 😉 When is RNR Chicago? That I ^might^ get FOMO over …..

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 2:54 pm

      July 21st you should come!

  21. Rachel says

    05/25/2018 at 7:48 pm

I runfess I have serious FOMO over Chicago. But I can’t swallow the $110 half marathon entry fee. That’s just insanity. Maybe I can be the cheer squad!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 2:55 pm

I am doing the 5K and the 10K too hot for a half for me. I think there are some discount codes floating around…

  22. Annmarie says

    05/26/2018 at 7:18 am

I need some of those Kleenex wet wipes! I use ShowerPills to clean off after a run but these would come in handy for the little wipe downs in between or even for the kids in the car!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 2:55 pm

Yes they are perfect for that and great for the kids

  23. Julie @ Running in a Skirt says

    05/26/2018 at 8:56 am

It has been so rainy! Those kleenex would be super useful right now!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 2:56 pm

First we had all the rain now we have heat and rain ugh

  24. Elysia says

    05/26/2018 at 11:56 am

Those kleenex wet wipes look great to keep on hand! Never know when you’re going to need to clean up, especially with the humid weather these days!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 2:56 pm

      Yes exactly!

  25. The Accidental Marathoner says

    05/26/2018 at 2:42 pm

And now I have a serious case of FOMO for Chicago RnR!!! I live here but I am working back-to-back 12 hour shifts that weekend :-/

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 2:56 pm

well you may need to call in sick lol. Maybe you will be able to meet for lunch or dinner one of the days

  26. Natalie says

    05/26/2018 at 3:38 pm

I love reading your runfessions 😉 I didn’t do my usual run today and you’re racing tomorrow. God, I feel so lazy compared to you right now hehe

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 5:42 pm

No don’t feel lazy! Tomorrow is another day 🙂

  27. Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says

    05/26/2018 at 5:00 pm

No races for me this weekend, I had a big one last weekend at IM Chattanooga 70.3! I carried those Kleenex wet wipes with me in my transition bag, I don’t know what I would do without them…So Handy, for so many things!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2018 at 5:43 pm

I know you did! Congrats again I cannot imagine doing a 70.3 bc the sprint distance is hard enough for me

  28. Zenaida Arroyo says

    05/26/2018 at 5:10 pm

Yay for RnR Chicago! I am not planning to run but hope to cheer on the runners.

    • Deborah Brooks says
