FPP post Foodie Penpals
This month I decided to try something new and join up with the monthly “Foodie Pen Pals” with Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean It’s kind of a fun, cool idea here’s how it works:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
I was matched up with Emma from Milwaukee, WI. Emma told me she was trying to reduce processed foods and eat healthy. Right up my alley! I sent her a box of goodies

I’m currently obsessed with water infusers with lemon and lime so that was my main goodie to Emma. I hope she enjoys them as well. Mary’s Gone Crackers are a great gluten free super healthy cracker that I regularly enjoy. Bear Naked is one of my favorite Granolas. I love to put it on yogurt for a pre workout snack. A tube of Carmex got popped in there too because everyone likes soft smooth lips right? I threw a couple of other goodies in just for fun.
I received my box from Emma right on time!

Ok “confession” I told Emma I ate a super healthy, vegetarian diet, but chocolate is vegetarian right?? I was very excited to be receiving that Trader Joe’s dark chocolate with caramel sea salt bar. Wow was that unexpectedly good. I took a few bites everyday and even hid it from the rest of the family.

I had heard of this Crunchy Cookie Butter from Trader Joe’s but I never in a million years would have bought it myself. This stuff is DANGEROUS!! I would say it is a cross between peanut butter and some kind of gingerbread cake batter. It’s like crack and I need to hide it from myself. Now!
I am a big fan of Trader Joe’s nuts and eat them often (without feeling guilty!)

A handful of these will usually get me past that afternoon hunger pang.
It was fun and different to participate in the Foodie Pen Pals! Thank you Emma for all of my goodies! I’m curious to see what the other pen pals received. If you’d like to participate next month, check out The Lean Green Bean and sign up by June 4th.
What would be the one thing you would definitely put into a Foodie Pen Pal box?

I’m so tempted by the cookie butter every time I see it, but I’ve resisted as we are the eating clean track too and a full jar is too tempting to have around. I love that caramel sea salt bar from TJ…I do still buy those when I make a trip 🙂 I also sent chocolate in my box, that was an item I knew I wanted to include when I signed up. The water infuser was a really neat twist to the box!

Mornin’! That was really cute that you sent a tube of Carmex! 🙂 I love the idea of sending a water infuser bottle, that’s really unique and cool. It’s also amazing what just lemon and lime (or other fruits and herbs) can do for a plain ol’ glass of water. Great idea to get all your h20 in for the day!

I like speculoos but have never had the crunchy kind-sure does look addictive!

This month was only my second time doing the foodie pen pal program, but one thing I have to always put in is a new seasoning or two. I have a gajillion jars of seasoning in my own cabinet, so I love gifting those to others.

Btw, I love the colors of your blog! Very colorful and energetic! 🙂

Thanks glad you like the blog-hope you’ll stop by again. Carmex is great and seasoning what a great idea. Perhaps we’ll be matched up one month. Have a good one!
