March Runfessions

I Runfess….

I was a little worried this week that my Cherry Blossom race (April 8th) was in jeopardy. After making it through my training program without any injuries at all, I bent down to pick up something the wrong way and tweaked my back. Ugh! How much does it suck to hurt yourself doing something non-running? After 2 massages, lots of ice and heat and some rest, it seems to be easing up a bit. Fingers crossed I will be okay next weekend for the race.

I Runfess…

Just looked ahead at my race schedule and realized that my first triathlon race is in 5 weeks. I’ve been so focused on Cherry Blossom training that I have not biked at all. Oops! I guess I will worry about that next week. I could use something new to stress about for sure.

I Runfess…

I am just overflowing with happiness that my daughter decided to come home last minute for Spring Break this week. Having both of my kids home with us this week is the best gift I could ever ask for. In a few short months, we will be empty nesters. I am savoring all the family time I can until then.

March Runfessions

I Runfess…

Spring seems to have sprung at last this week. I had just about had it with winter. Now how long should we wait until we start complaining about the humidity again?

What do you have for March Runfessions? Ever hurt yourself doing something non running that impacted your running?

Hope everyone has a happy and family filled Passover and Easter this weekend. Mark your calendars for the Ultimate Coffee Date link up next Saturday the 7th with me and Coco

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I hate when I do something to hurt myself when I’m not even running! The worst for me was when I was cleaning a sliding shower door in my old apartment and it came of the track and fell on my foot. Luckily it wasn’t broken but I did have to take some time off from running!
Hope you have a good time with your family this week!

One time I passed out and got a concussion so I couldn’t run. A ridiculous injury that I felt silly telling people. I’m glad your back is starting to feel better!

What started off to be a cool week, ended up being very nice. I hope the nicer weather is here to stay. I will take heat and humidity any day over cold and wind.

      03/30/2018 at 1:01 pm

Looks like it is still going to be chilly for this week but the heat and humidity will be here soon enough

I hope your back is well recovered! I had a client who was going to be doing her first half marathon in over a year and 4 days before had a major osteoarthritis flare in her knee. I was gutted for her! We hopefully will get our take two in 2 weeks!
I am also so jealous of your cherry blossoms. They are my favorite!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/30/2018 at 1:15 pm

Thanks it seems to be almost all better now. It’s so frustrating to hurt yourself doing something silly. Good luck to your client on her race too

That’s so great that your daughter came home for Spring Break!

Oh no – so sorry to hear about your back! Isn’t it crazy how we can injure ourselves doing the most simple tasks?!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/30/2018 at 1:23 pm

I was so annoyed at myself but it seems to be healing quickly thankfully

Once I sprained my ankle on a free fall – it turned into a grade 2 sprain, and I barely got better in time for my first Dopey Challenge! Talk about impacting a big race…I was so freaked out. Luckily I healed just in time (just lost a ton of training time in the process lol)

I know it’s crazy how that happens!

How nice to have both of your kiddos home! My kids are 6 and 8 and I already think about how strange it will be when they leave for college/work/their own life!
I hope your back continues to improve. My sister has completely thrown her back out just from reaching over to pick up an empty laundy basket!

I’ve hurt myself doing absolutely nothing plenty of times. I’m glad your back is feeling better. Not fun. That’s awesome you’ll have your family together for Passover. My oldest has one more year before she heads to college and I feel like our days are numbered. Sigh.
