Thanks for joining me and Coco for the March 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date linkup. I have lots of gossip to share today so grab those larger mugs and let’s get right to it.
Ultimate Coffee Date March 2023
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I almost fell over when my husband came in the other day to tell me he wanted to start running 🏃♂️. Ironically, when we first met 30 years ago, he ran on the treadmill almost every night after work. At the time, I was step aerobics gym girl and not all interested in running. Boy how things change!
I don’t remember why he stopped running. While it has only been about 10 days since his big announcement, he has run on treadmill 3 times already. In fact, he FaceTimed me from his hotel gym so I could see him action. I am helping him come up with a variation of the couch to 5K plan I used when coaching my group. Stay tuned for updates!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I am in love with my new protein powder from Elo Health. In case you missed it on my IG last week, Elo health allows you to custom design your protein powder adding things like BCAA’s, collagen or electrolytes etc. They have whey and plant based options. Once you set up your info on the app and link your wearable, you receive real time advice on recovery. You will receive your personalized blend.
As you can see here, I got this message after a run advising me on how much protein to consume for optimal recovery. It can be confusing to know how much protein to have post workout and I am loving the guidance. This is not an affiliate link and I don’t make any money from purchases but I do have a 50% off code to share. If you are interested use code DEBORAH here.
Thanks for joining us for the March 2023 ultimate Coffee Date. If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

That is really exciting about your hubby’s interest in returning to running! He definitely has a great coach to guide him 😉 The protein thing is confusing! Sounds like you’ve found a great product to help with your specific needs.
Deborah Brooks says
I am so surprised about my hubs! Yes, the protein stuff can be confusing and I am loving this new option
Farrah says
Aww, that’s awesome that your husband is running again! :]
That protein powder sounds really cool! I like that it’s so customizable!
Deborah Brooks says
exactly it makes sense!
Marcia says
That’s so great your hubby wants to return to running! My husband was a runner before I was as well. In fact for his 40th?? birthday I got him an entry to the Maui Half Marathon. It was fun to be a spectator! That protein sounds like a good concept!
Deborah Brooks says
I don’t think marathons are in his future but we are planning a 5K!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I’d live it if my hubby ran with me. But it’s never gonna happen. But he plays tennis several times a week. So he is active.
Deborah Brooks says
I don’t know that we will run together but I am glad to see him start exercising!
Debbie says
How great that your husband is running again!
The accompanying app to the protein powder sounds very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Deborah Brooks says
I am loving the app and the protein powder
Coco says
That’s great about your husband taking up running! Since you don’t use your tread, I assume you don’t mind if he does? 😉
That protein powder is really interesting. I just don’t do well drinking my calories — I still want to eat and then end up with too many calories.
Deborah Brooks says
I am excited that he is running. I cannot get enough protein from eating alone. I have protein powder and milk after every run and it works really well for me.
Michelle says
I saw your IG and I’m very intrigued by the protein powder – thanks for sharing!
That’s great that your husband is returning to running. Do you think you’ll do a race together? I love it when my hubs runs with me – he’s planning to join me for the Mystic 10K.
Deborah Brooks says
I highly recommend the protein powder let me know if you have questions. Optimistic that my hubs is exercising again. He says he wants to do a 5K this summer so we shall see!
Wendy says
I love that your hubs wants to take up running. Mine is happy to support me from the couch, lol. He never was a runner. His job always kept him in shape but once he moved to a supervisory role, not so much! Funny thing, he just had his annual physical and blood work which was ridiculously perfect in spite of his poor diet and weight. Genetics are powerful!
Deborah Brooks says
funny yes, my hubs has always had perfect blood work as well. How annoying!!
Jenny says
Wow, that protein sounds very cool. And, your husband! How exciting! It’s funny that of the two of you, he used to be the runner. Well, he can get back into it! You’ll have to keep us updated on his progress.
Deborah Brooks says
The. Protein is amazing and they do have a plant based. Yes I sure will keep you updated!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Very cool about your husband. Mine ran when we first met in the 90s then started again in 2008 and has since quit again – LOL. Next time you both come to Chicago, we can do a run tour!!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, good idea! We will be there in May
Chocolaterunsjudy says
That’s so awesome about your husband! I would just be happy if mine wouldn’t lay on the couch for hours every morning. I reminded him recently that the heart is a muscle — I guess I shouldn’t have, but it truly just pains me to see him so sloth-like.
That’s pretty cool about the personalized protein powder! Especially the guidance on how much protein to consume post workout. Thanks for sharing that!
Deborah Brooks says
My husband is going from couch to 5K so there is hope! Yes, I am loving the protein powder and just got my second shipment
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says

Deborah Brooks says
I am really excited about it for a number of reasons!

Deborah Brooks says
I am excited that he is excited about getting into shape again!
Renée says
that is SO GREAT that your hubby has started running again!!! Ron is in such a funk with work for so long that he might run 5KM once in a week in a good week! While I have my own scheduling and motivational issues, I know how much happier and grounded he was when he was running more. Super excited to hear how it goes for your husband in the coming weeks and months!
Deborah Brooks says
I am excited that he is interested in exercising again! I will keep you posted
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
That’s great that your husband is gonna start running again! I remember you trying to coach him a few years back!
Elo Health sounds really interesting…love the custom options. I’ve been much more curious about how to really get a better of sense of what nutrients I need. I’ll have to check it out!
Deborah Brooks says
I am really happy w Elo let me know if you have any questions. I am on my second bag already! Yes, I did try to get him into running 8 years ago! I think it might stick this time!
