Thanks for joining me and Coco for the September 2024 Ultimate Coffee Date.I am coming to you from somewhere between Las Vegas and Chicago so I will take mine to go today! Grab your coffee mug and let’s catch up!

April 2024 Ultimate Coffee Date

Make mine to go! September Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you…

I am on my from Las Vegas (where I have been all week) to Chicago at the time you are reading this. I’m headed to Brooks Running Hype Fest for their annual ambassador retreat. It will be a whirlwind weekend with lots of events, runs, speakers and of course photos!

September 2024 coffee dare

I will be rooming with Wendy again and we can’t wait to hang out together with the rest of the team. Admittedly, I am a little anxious about all the events. Believe it or not, I struggled to pack! So much fun gear it was hard to choose what to bring. Stay tuned for a full recap of all the events next week.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Seems like every morning now, I wake up and take that first step out of bed and feel like a creaky old(er) person. I have to walk it off for a couple of steps. Is this from running? Normal getting older? Whatever it is, I am not a fan! I’m sure I could help the situation if I just did a couple of stretches in my bed before getting up. Does this happen to any of you?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

This memory popped up this week from 2016 of me and Coco doing the Reston Metric Century together. When I did tri races a few years back, I really enjoyed cycling so much. Not sure why I stopped cycling outside. Clearly, Coco is still a fan.

Reston century 2016

That’s about all I have to share today this September 2024. Make mine to go! I am on the move once again.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I feel you on the morning stiffness saga! This morning my body is feeling especially creaky from yesterday’s lower-body session with Rad (IYKYK). Holy burning buttocks, Batman!

oh yes I do know 🙂

I’m really feeling the creakiness this year! My body is also rebelling at running long distances. It seems that I’m slowing down–say it isn’t so!

    See you later!!!! EEEEK!

      can’t wait to see you!

I feel creaky when I stand up from my desk at the end of the day but that’s because I should move more!

Sounds like you’ve had a great week. Looking forward to seeing the Brooks recap.

What a fun time we had that day — I’d ride with you if you get your bike out again!

Ask me in March again about cycling!

Now that I’m not running the miles I used to, I don’t feel the aches and pains in the am. I used to feel stiffness in my feet. I stopped cycling after getting a flat tire and that’s ridiculous. I should really get back out there as well. Have so much fun this weekend! The weather should be great!

I don’t know why I stopped cycling outside? Maybe we will both get back to it

I can relate to those creaky first steps – sigh.

    Have fun in Chicago!

Ooh, you have a fun weekend coming up! I want to see all the photos!
Because of my ongoing issues with plantar fasciitis (which I’ve given up on and will obviously have for life) I look like a 100 year old woman getting out of bed every morning. But then it loosens up and I’m good to go.
I also used to cycle outside, but just stopped enjoying it. OR… more accurately, I finally admitted to myself that I never really enjoyed it, ha.

ha yes one of the 2! My feet need some warming up as well as my hips and back in the morning

Ahh, I hope you’re having a ton of fun at the retreat! :]

I really need to start stretching on a more regular basis too, heheh.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2024 at 10:32 am

I am really excited to get there

  8. Debbie says

I hope you have a fantastic time this weekend at Hype Fest. I imagine it would be harder to pack going from one destination to another rather than straight from home.

If you get back to riding outside let me know, I’d love to join you and Coco for a ride again. We’re long overdue!

I am an overpacker to begin with so this was just ridiculous!

Sorry the stiffness will get worse but the alternative they say is worse.

Have fun this weekend. I can’t wait to hear about all the swag and fun things you get to do and try.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2024 at 9:45 pm

Ha yes I guess the alternative is much worse 🙂

I remember some of your bike ride posts, didn’t you two and Deb meet at a Virginia sign back pre covid? My feet hate gettig out of bed. It’s not PF per se, but I do the stretches and toe yoga to help relieve

Yes we did all ride together back before covid
