Wow can’t believe it’s the end of July already! I thought I’d take a moment to look at some of the people and things that I’m Loving Lately-Summer Edition.
Loving Lately-Summer Edition
I know most of us have been having ridiculously hot and humid weather. I am not really loving running right now but I have been loving riding my bike and hot yoga. Oddly, the heat of a hot yoga class does not bother me but running outside is killing me lately. Go figure!!

I’m loving how amazing all of the fruits and vegetables are right now. I am loving pineapple & cantaloupe
I’m loving these great zucchini and squash I found at a farm stand. I’ve never seen green squash like this before.
I’m loving getting back to reading at night before bed. Currently, I am diving into the new Daniel Silva book. (affiliate link) This one is eerily representative of many of the current world events. Always a page turner. Also I am back to reading a real book instead of reading on a Kindle or Ipad.
I’m loving family time. With 2 teens, we are rarely all together anymore especially in the summer time. I am treasuring all these moments together. Last weekend, not only did we all go to Cirque Du Soliel together but we met my parents for dinner afterwards. They took their first selfie!
I’m loving coffee! Even though it’s hot as can be out there, I still drink hot coffee. Which reminds me, mark your calendars for next Saturday the 6th and join us for our Ultimate Coffee Date. Link up with me and my co hosts, Coco and Lynda, for our virtual coffee date.
What are you loving lately? Reading on a device or old fashioned book? Favorite summer veggie?

Kristy from Southern In Law says
Ooohh, those squash look SO fun and delicious! Perfect for veggie pizzas!
Nothing beats family time!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! I can’t wait to grill them up
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
I’m loving my morning and midday/night smoothies! I’ve gotten so that I look forward to them in the morning (after my coffee of course!)
Deborah Brooks says
After coffee of course! Have a great weekend
Annmarie says
I’m loving all the fresh veggies too! 🙂 Happy Friday!
Deborah Brooks says
They are so delicious aren’t they!?
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
The veggies have been so beautiful and delicious lately. The other day at the store I found the largest green peppers I have ever seen. I couldn’t resist getting them, and they inspired us to make stuffed peppers for dinner that night.
Deborah Brooks says
I know they are so good this year must have been all of that rain we had in the spring.
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
I’m def back to books. I go through phases, but I still really just love a book. I grew some HUGE patty pans like that yellow one! I need to make all the squash now 🙂
I’m hosting the Best of the Blogs linkup today! I hope you’ll come linkup your favorite posts of the month!
Deborah Brooks says
I keep forgetting about that let me find one to link up!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
I’ve definitely been loving summer produce, too! This is just the best time of the year for fresh fruits and veggies!
Deborah Brooks says
It really is!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I both read on a device and a book (from the library). Haven’t gotten any books out of the library lately, though.
Asparagus is one of my favorites. Even as a kid!
Melons, too, except watermelon. The only good thing about having to put Gizmo into the laundry room for some part of every day is that I don’t have to deal with him begging when I eat cantaloupe!
Deborah Brooks says
I am all over cantaloupe this week eating it right out of there w a spoon 🙂
Chaitali says
That’s funny about the hot yoga in the Summer. At least there isn’t that much of a difference in the temperature! And yay for having family time together 🙂 We’re going to see the Cirque du Soleil show tomorrow. I’m pretty excited about it.
Deborah Brooks says
It’s really quite good I am sure you will enjoy it. they are so talented
Marsha says
We’re all about pineapple and cantaloupe and peaches around here. My 13 year old son has gotten the cooking bug, so he’s been grilling pineapple and peaches on the grill. He has planted some veggies in what little yard we have. As for books, I have some easy read, short novels on my kindle, but personal development books need to be the real thing, because I read with pin in hand and underline. Then if I need to reference something, I can flip back through it. I have never gotten the whole highlighter and bookmarking thing on electronic devices. I’m old-fashioned I guess 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I am old fashioned too with books just seems to make more sense. It’s fun to cook with the kids and can’t beat the grilled fruits.
[email protected] says
I always read old fashioned books…. I still even check books out from the library… although some books that I know I’m going to want to keep, I buy.
Deborah Brooks says
Reading on a kindle just seems not real to me. I like to disconnect from the electronics at night.
Marcia says
The hot weather is killing my runs as well! It is a great garden year though and mine is going bonkers. I’ve been blogging (lots) less and really enjoying time with my kids this summer. I’ll read on a device but I do prefer a good old fashioned book!
Deborah Brooks says
I can’t wait to have a real garden in our new house because every vegetarian needs her own garden.
Kayla @ Blondes Have More Run says
Mmm…pineapple is really sweet right now!!
Deborah Brooks says
It is really good!
Abbey says
omg that pineapple and mango combination looks INSANELY good. yum.
Deborah Brooks says
All about the fruit lately!
Live Free And Run says
I am loving open water swimming which really can only happen during the summer for me! I can’t get enough of lakes and oceans!
Deborah Brooks says
I love swimming but not open water! I am such a wimp
Mary Beth Jackson says
I need a juicy summer novel to dive into! I am loving all the summer fruits! It’s a delicious summer!
Deborah Brooks says
This book is a page turner but more of a thriller if you like that type of book. It’s very well written
Elle says
I would much rather read a book or a magazine than a screen. And ALL the veggies. I cannot get enough!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes me too! Both
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
I’ve read a few Daniel Silva books – always good! And I’m a hot coffee drinker, too – no matter what. Love that yoga pic of you! Looking strong!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks girlfriend! Have a great weekend
[email protected] says
I took hot yoga earlier this summer but now it is so darn hot out I do t thk I’d be loving that when it is 100 degrees outside. Never a bad time for coffee though. I drink hot coffee all yr long.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I like reading on my iPad. The extra light and large print is a bonus. What can I say?
Deborah Brooks says
For some reason it kind of makes my eyes tired. I like the feel of a real book
Cassi says
I still prefer reading a book over a device. Zucchini is my favorite summer veggie.
Deborah Brooks says
Me too on both!
Karen @ fit in France says
I am reading mostly on my Kindle but I admit I broke down recently and bought a book with pages. It felt great !
Deborah Brooks says
I just like something about holding a real book! Hope you are having a great vacation
Coco says
I am loving family time this summer too! And that my son like to fix dinner – such a treat!
Deborah Brooks says
Well that’s a treat that he likes to cook now too 🙂

Getting back into Yoga is a great, especially when it’s too hot outside for running!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I totally agree!
Jennifer @ Dashing in Style says
Your pineapple and cantaloupe look beautiful! I usually do not love hot weather running, but I must be used to it because it’s just not bothering me much.
Deborah Brooks says
That is great that you have adapted so well. This summer it is really bothering me
Carmy says
LOVE it! Looks like you’re having a ton of fun 🙂

Deborah Brooks says

So great that you have been able to spend lots of time with the family. My parents ended up following me down here and now we do family dinners once a week. I love it.
Deborah Brooks says
Once a week is perfect! Enjoy your family time too 🙂
