On Mother’s Day weekend, I thought it the perfect time to celebrate some of my most favorite moms. You’ve heard me rave about how great our Moms Run This Town group is and I wanted to take this opportunity to share more with you about why I love my moms running group so much. I went straight to the source, the moms themselves, and picked some of the most powerful comments to share today.
Why I Love My Moms Running Group:
“..because it breaks down the fallacy that working mothers/stay-at-home-mothers/moms who work part-time can’t get along. We’re all mothers and we’re all runners, and in those endeavors we’re all each other’s cheering section and support system”
“They remind me that taking care of yourself is equally as important as taking care of your children”
“it helps keep me accountable and push myself but also accept that no matter where I am in my training/ exercise goals, I fit right in”
“because when you need help and don’t want to/can’t ask for it, your friends appear with food, offers to babysit and time spent together to take your mind off of things and keep you company. The bonds you forge in the rain, 7 miles in, at 6am on a Saturday are pretty darn strong”
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
It’s so cool that you have such a wonderful group of friends to run with! I’d love to find something like this!
Deborah Brooks says
I hope you do find your crew-they have changed my life
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
How wonderful to have such a close knit group of ladies to share your passion with. Happy Mother’s day to you all!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks!I am very lucky indeed!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
This is so nice! Since I’m not a mom, I’m not part of a mom’s running group, but I have been thinking about joining a running group in general!
Deborah Brooks says
I hope you find one that works for you we have a blast together.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I’ve never joined a mom’s group for the simple reason that I’m not a mom!
Deborah Brooks says
We have a few ladies that are not moms in our group but pet moms 🙂
Debbie @ Coach Debbie Runs says
I’d have to join a Grandma Running Group :-). I’m not even sure we have one in my area. I was a part of a running club for years, and it helped me so much, both for making so many running friends and for motivation. So many of them have moved away, stopped running, turned to triathlon, or other things, that it just kind of faded away. I might look into a mom’s group though. I’m sure it would be great.
Deborah Brooks says
We have grandmas in our group too! You might have to start your own group

I’m not in a mom’s running group, but just a running group….. And I have to say, the people in my group are so diverse (including men)…but running unifies us and gives us an instant bond… I love my weekly group run. Happy Mother’s Day!!
Deborah Brooks says
Isn’t that so great?! Happy mother’s day to you too
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
I’m so glad that you have the support system that you do. I really hope that little man and I will be able to join in for some summer running once the school year is over, and once he’s able to sit up in the BOB.
Deborah Brooks says
WE would so love that! Please do
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
This reminds me of running with CES. There is just nothing like having people around you who “get” you.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! I am very lucky
Melissa @ Mango About Town says
It’s so great when you find a group of people with similar interests! I had been running with a friend but our schedules have gotten so busy – a group is a great idea because that way if one person can’t make it it’s likely that several others will. No excuses!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! I hope you find your people too
Sarah says
Aww looks like so much fun! I have debated on joining one now that I’m running more but it’s been so hard when my husband traveling so much I can only get away after getting them to school and most of them (ones I know of) are earlier than that.
Hope you have a great Mother’s Day!
Deborah Brooks says
with our group, that’s the great thing that you can find someone to run with at crazy times. Check out it!
Annmarie says
Aw love this! I think running friends make the best friends <3
Deborah Brooks says
I totally agree!
Mary Long says
This is awesome. I love hearing about women lifting each other up!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly!
Chaitali says
This is so great! I fell like there are so many narratives out there that try to show women tearing each other down but that hasn’t been my experience at all. I surround myself with women that try to build each other up and it sounds like this group is the same. I feel like that’s really important.
Deborah Brooks says
Exactly! It took me years to find my people but I finally did
Jessica @ Nutritioulicious says
So fabulous you have a group of moms who support each other in multiple ways. What a great camaraderie! Happy Mother’s Day to you all!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much! I am very lucky to have them
Christina says

I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day! I hope that when I become a mom (in several years LOL), I’ll find a MRTT group to run and bond with.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes me too! Thanks do much
Stephanie says
Running groups sound but I am a little intimidated. Thinking I should just give it a go 🙂

I always loved being a solo runner. Until I ran Big Sur with Kristina. Now I want company on my runs. Looks like I need to find a group…
Deborah Brooks says
Oh wow I am so excited for you. It’s like a whole new chapter of running!

I used to run with mom friends all of the time but this year I have done a ton of solo running. I do love running with other moms though as there is always so much to talk about.
