It is that time of the month again. Time to spill some confessions and runfessions. Let’s get right to it. Thanks to Marcia for hosting today.
Confessions and Runfessions
I Confess and Runfess...
I am on the move again! Yes, I am in Houston, Texas for the weekend for the Small Biz Social Society 1st annual conference. I will tell you all more about it next week. Did I mention that Houston is not the best place to visit this time of the year. They are also having a major heat wave. You all know how much I love heat and humidity!
I Confess and Runfess…
I mentioned in the weekly run down that I was super excited about the father’s day gift we had for my dad. With the help of Paint Your Life, we were able to create this fantastic hand-painted portrait from my son’s graduation to present to my parents. They were blown away by lifelike representations of all of us. They now have a sentimental keepsake to display that will last forever.
They can basically take any photo or a combination of photos and combine them to create something personal to you and your family. I cannot recommend them more highly.
If you’d like to see my parents’ reaction when they saw it check out my IG reel here. thanks!
I Confess and Runfess…
I have spent the last 2 years really dialing in my nutrition and feeling good with where I am. Needless to say, I was not thrilled to see I had gained 4 pounds on my trip. Admittedly, I had a minor freak out. I know that if I just return to my normal eating and exercise pattern it will all even out in a few weeks. I stress this to my clients as well when they travel.
Yes, it was all worth it because I did enjoy tasting so many new foods and maybe a few too many glasses of wine on my trip. That is one of the fun things about travel right?
That’s about all I have to confess and runfess today! See you next week for our July Ultimate Coffee Date.

As I told you, that painted picture of your family is absolutely beautiful! What a thoughtful, and incredibly sentimental, gift! Enjoy your time in Houston…yes, it does get warm there!
Deborah Brooks says
My parents really loved it! It came out way better than I expected
Marcia says
That is a great gift for your parents! Gifting gets tougher as we age. Sigh. The weight will normalize, but I feel you. It sneaks on so easily. Have fun and stay cool in Houston!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a fantastic gift they really loved it. Yes I know the. weight will normalize but it is frustrating!
Michelle says
I really love that gift idea!
Good luck with the Houston heat!
Deborah Brooks says
The painting was such a fabulous gift for them. It is quite hot here
Wendy says
I do love that gift you gave your parents. It’s so hard to give my parents gifts as they get older, but they love sentimental items like that.
I don’t own a scale for the very reason you mentioned. I’m just too OCD for that! Especially as I struggle with the menopot. Just keep moving.
Deborah Brooks says
It is hard to find gifts for the parents as they age. They really loved this painting! I usually weigh myself only about once every 1-2 weeks for just that reason.
Jenny says
Yes, I’ve been to Texas in the summer and it’s not fun! Houston is also not the most exciting city in that state. The conference sounds interesting though- I want to hear all about it!
That portrait is beautiful, and what a great idea. As Wendy said it’s hard to give older people gifts- they pretty much have everything they need or can get it themselves. This is perfect.
Don’t worry about the four pounds! There’s no way it will stay on you. But the most important thing is you enjoyed your trip to the fullest- that’s what really counts.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, not the most exciting town but it is nice to meet some new friends in person. It is hard to find gifts for parents but they sure loved this one. I am not too worried about the 4 pounds it is expected with all the travel.
Cari says
I LOVE that portrait. And such a quick turnaround time too from graduation.
And the summer salt retention does not help with the scale. I’m glad I’m a frequent weigher so I can see the salt swings and recognize them for what they are, but so not fun. Travel food always tastes better.
Enjoy Houston, if not the weather
Deborah Brooks says
my parents loved the portrait! It really only took about 2 weeks for turn around time.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Houston has horrible humidity. Austin was humid, but not anything like Houston!
I almost always gain when away, mostly due to sodium from restaurant food — but it still takes longer to get it back off than put it on — what’s up with that?
That painting is really awesome.
Deborah Brooks says
yes, it is frustrating! And yes, my parents loved the portrait 🙂
Coco says
That portrait is really cool!
I bet every calorie was worth it and you WILL drop those vacation pounds quickly, I’m sure!
Enjoy Houston — stay cool!
Deborah Brooks says
my parents really loved it! I sure hope so lots of travel this summer
Zenaida Arroyo says
That is a beautiful gift!!! Love the picture of you eating the pizza. It looks like you definitely enjoyed it. A few years ago I went to San Antonio and the weather was just awful – hot and humid too. I’ll go again but not in the Summer. I’ve been in the Winter and it is much better.
Deborah Brooks says
yes, I imagine its a lot cooler not in the summer!
Darlene Cardillo says
What an awesome gift.
I know I gained weight when I went on vacation but I don’t weigh myself… I’m in denial that way lol.
Enjoy Houston… so glad you chose to run a race!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I am glad too!
