It’s time for some sweaty confessions and runfessions! Thanks to Marcia for hosting the June 2024 linkup. Let’s jump right into it.
June 2024 Sweaty Confessions and Runfessions
I sweaty Confess and Runfess…
Yes, I technically “could” get up earlier to run in this excessive heat. I just can’t do it. I am so not an early bird and really need my sleep. So therefore, I am just going to complain about how hot I am until October. Honestly, I am getting up slightly earlier on running days and meeting my group at 8:30.
I sweaty confess and runfess…
I am excited to be back in the pool swimming and keeping cool (see above lol). I’ve also quickly remembered from my triathlon days that swim shape is not the same as running or cycling shape. Swimming laps is not easy! I’m sticking with it and adding a few more each time. I find swimming very relaxing almost like being in that runner’s high zone.
I sweaty confess and runfess…
Being someone who pretty much gagged at the thought of cottage cheese for decades, I am fully embracing it and its newfound popularity. I am blending it into omelets, frittatas, and casseroles and even went so far as to make wraps with it. It’s basically undetectable when you blend it into other foods and really packs a huge nutritional punch in terms of protein and calcium. Just what I need more of! Are you on the cottage cheese bandwagon? What’s your favorite way to eat it?
That’s about all I have to confess and runfess this sweaty June 2024. Look forward to catching up more next week at the July Ultimate Coffee Date. I will be joining from somewhere European-can you guess where I might be headed?

What a cool pic with the pool reflecting in your sunglasses! That was a very good idea.
I’m the same with getting up early. I don’t mind sweating a bit more in the heat if it means I get to sleep more, ha!
Deborah Brooks says
sleep is precious and I am all about it these days. I know if I run less now it’s ok fall is coming soon

I think back to all the years in which I trained through the summer for fall marathons and I marvel at the fact that I was out running at 5:30am. I SO don’t wanna do that anymore! That’s so great you love swimming and can relax while doing laps. While I definitely gained swim fitness in my tri days, I never really enjoyed the swim. Have so much fun on vacay!
Deborah Brooks says
I was just thinking about how (and why!) I slugged through long summer runs for fall half marathons the last few years and how I just don’t have it in me anymore. It is ok fall will be back soon and I will get more miles in It’s good to mix it up right?

I wish I liked swimming, but it’s just not my gig. I think I must have been splashed one too many times as a child, LOL, because I DO NOT like water on my face unless I’m the one splashing it. That said, I know how great of a full-body workout it is. I had not heard of the cottage cheese trend! I don’t love it, but I can tolerate it.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha I do like swimming when it’s hot and I feel like it really hits al the muscles. It’s great right after a hot run or strength.Yes, cottage cheese is everywhere now and in every recipe on IG
Jenny says
Ha ha, I like your honesty- you’re not going to get up super early to run, but you WILL be complaining about the heat until October. Maybe you’ll get a little more acclimated and it won’t be SO bad.
Ugh, swimming. It’s one of the reasons I quit triathlons (and the other reason is cycling, ha.) It’s hard, and not to make excuses, but I think if you didn’t learn to swim with proper technique when you’re young, it’s hard to learn it later in life. It is great exercise though.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha the tri racing does require lots of biking and swimming and time. I am not ready to do those again but I am enjoying my lap swimming and pool running at the moment
Darlene S Cardillo says
I do wish I had a pool to run.
I have to run early in this heat but as you said, I never get up early enough… as a result my runs are very short.
Deborah Brooks says
Mine are short as well in the summertime but that’s ok. Fall will be here soon 🙂
Michelle says
I’m naturally an early bird so I don’t mind getting out early – but I’m still going to complain LOL As I runfessed, I don’t mind missing this season of running. It’s nice that you have swimming as an option!
Deborah Brooks says
It has been a rough summer so far!
Jenn says
That’s a cool photo with your sunglasses!
I’m an early bird thank goodness! Otherwise I would never make it.
i ran almost 5 miles today and had to switch to walking. There was no way around it.
Deborah Brooks says
I am sure living in FL you have to learn to be an early bird to run outside
