June 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am much more motivated to read during the summer. Just in the past week, I have finished Lessons in Chemistry and also did an advance copy read for a friend who writes legal thrillers. I am now into “Drowning” the second book from TJ Newman (falling) Just don’t read it on an airplane! It’s so good!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

If you have been around here a while, you know how much I love strength training. This summer, I am going to really push myself to build even more strength and continue to mix up my workouts with some of the new Peloton programs.

Weekly run down| coffee June 2023

Summer has never been my favorite time to run longer distances (hello heat and humidity) and I’ve had some extra challenges lately as well. I am excited to see what changes I can make and how they might help my running even more. I know I feel and look the best when my strength is on point.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

We love to travel during the summer! Next week will kick off our summer travel. First up, we have a wedding to attend California and then a few days in the Napa area. The weather is looking fabulous and I am excited to get out there and explore. Stay tuned for lots of travel pics!

Flashback to 2018 when we did the Ragnar Napa Valley:

Part 2 Ragnar Napa Valley| Survive Ragnar

If we were having coffee, I would ask you if you have any exciting travel plans this summer?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I think a focus on strength is a great summer goal! Have fun on your travels. We are heading out as well and I need to load up on all the books for the flights!

I have a half on Sunday and when I signed up I optimistically thought it would still be cool enough for a long distance race. Hah! Good thing it’s just a ‘training run’, lol

I have to look for that book! I loved his first one!

I never sign up for longer races after April it’s just too hot for me. Hope it is not too bad this weekend for you. It’s going to be 90 today!

Napa valley How fun! Have a glass or two for me.

12 weeks of gym machines has almost sold me on strength training LOL.

Yes, I’m also focusing on strength this summer- although possibly not as meticulously as you are. I’m also doing a lot of reading, but not much traveling. That’s okay, I’ll live vicariously through you- your trip sounds amazing. Have a great time!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/02/2023 at 9:14 am

Loved Lessons in Chemistry! Did you read Remarkably Bright Creatures? Loved that, too.

We’re going to Sweden and Denmark at the end of the month and I’m going to NYC next weekend for a Bar Mitzvah and friends meet up. I’m excited!

Definitely more of a summer reader too. Something about being outside lends itself to it.
Using summer to get back on my strength game too. Please yell at me if I don’t 😀

Zero travel plans at all at the moment. I’ve looked into a few things, but life is just complicated right now. I’m sure you can appreciate that!

Strength is always a great thing!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/02/2023 at 5:25 pm

I can totally appreciate that! I’ve also become acutely aware that life is short and I want to do all the things 🙂

We have a few trips planned this summer, and I’m pretty excited. It’s been a while since trips have been enjoyable due to Mr PugRunner’s health, so I am cautiously optimisitic.

haha, after watching Descent shortly before going on a caving adventure, I’ve learned my lesson. Will be adding Drowning to my to-read list but definitely only going to read it when I am firmly on the ground.
