I would not be lying if I said July was just not my month for running. Perhaps I am still a little bummed about my recent performance at my sprint tri race a few weeks ago I don’t know. So this week’s July Runfessions with Marcia comes just at the right time for me.

July Runfessions

I Runfess…

Summer running? So not a fan. I am not enjoying running these past few weeks in this humidity. Yup this Moms Run This Town chapter leader is not loving running so much right now. I do love the social aspect of our group runs and I am always happier after my run is done but it’s feeling more like work than fun lately. I have no doubt this will change as the heat breaks and I will be one happy girl. I promise I will never complain about the cold ever again.

I Runfess…

It felt good to get all of my feelings out in my post the other day about my disappointment with my race performance a few weeks ago. Now that I got that all out, I am ready to stop sulking around and move on.

I Runfess…

I am scheduled to submit a blog post for the Skirt Sports website by this weekend and I have not started writing it yet. I am supposed to find one word that describes me and write a post. Would you believe I can’t come up with one word that I think describes me!? Have any ideas for me?

I Runfess…

I have been binge watching a few new shows: Ozark and Shooter. Ozark is a new Netflix show with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. It’s great to see Jason Bateman as a bad guy for a change. Shooter on USA has Ryan Phillipe as a military sniper on the run. What are you binge watching this summer?

I Runfess…

I have amassed a ridiculous amount of running and workout clothes! I had so many running skirts they were bursting out of my drawer. I did find these hangers that will hold 4 skirts so now I can see exactly what is in my closet. First world problems for sure!

July Runfessions

My July Runfessions sound a little more like whining than usual so thanks for reading and sticking with me. It was one of those months for sure.

I am excited to guest host the Weekly Wrap for Hoho and Tricia this week. See you right here on Sunday. Have a great weekend everyone.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I have to do a post for RockNBlog and I runfess I have no topic as well. Sigh. I’m struggling with finding the time to write for my own blog (altho I seem to have no problems with topics for that!)

That is exactly how I feel!

Ain’t nothing like a Festivus like airing of grievances to then be able to move on. Disappointing races do serve a purpose by helping us commit again to our next venture, which will be stellar, I am sure!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 8:59 am

Thanks for listening I know you get it too

I think I was away on vacay and missed your race. Bummer it didn’t go as you’d hoped. I am right there with you struggling with hot runs. I feel like I’m walking more than running sometimes and yet my heart rate is in the zone. Not a confidence builder! Love that hanger!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 9:02 am

Not a confidence builder at all but this too shall pass

It’s been a rough summer for running! I hate writing about myself – that’s really hard. I might cheat and work backwards – think about something you want to write about and pick a word that relates to that topic/experience. 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 9:02 am

Yes it is hard to write about yourself like that

Those hangers are great! We’ve been binge watching “shark week” on Discovery. My daughter loves it! Hopefully you’re running will be more enjoyable soon! This weather has been crazy.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 9:02 am

Shark week totally scares me so none of that for me!

Whining is allowed and it wasn’t that bad! I’m not a big tv watcher but I would sure like to find a new show or two to sink my teeth into! Have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

Blogging is all about getting it out there.

I have too many skirts as well. I mean I run 4x a week max. I just roll them up in a drawer so I see them all at once. I given away almost all my shorts and non-ss skirts. But these new patterns are tempting.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:21 pm

Yes I know! I just watched the video and now I want them all

  8. [email protected] says

    07/28/2017 at 9:41 am

Wow… that’s a lot of skirts… I really don’t enjoy running in the heat either…. which really lasts until October or so here.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:27 pm

I think your heat is better than ours! I am so excited to run in San Fran in November. Thanks for listening to my whine today I am not usually so negative as you know

  9. Chaitali says

    07/28/2017 at 9:53 am

Those hangers for organizing your skirts are great! I’ve definitely got to purge my closet again too. I’ve heard good things about Ozark. I’m currently binge watching Sense8 on Netflix. It’s pretty good but it takes a while to figure out what’s going on.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:27 pm

I have not heard of sense8 I will check that out too

  10. Ana says

    07/28/2017 at 10:12 am

    That flower skirt is adorable!!

I just went through my leggings and got rid of some that were on the way of my shorts… gotta make room for the new shorts that I buy instead of work pants!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:28 pm

      I know priorities right?!

  11. Megan @ Meg Go Run says

    07/28/2017 at 10:46 am

Your skirts are really cute! We are not binge watching anything this summer, but we love summer TV because Big Brother is on and it’s on 3 times a week! I hope you have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:29 pm

      Thanks so much you too!

  12. Kim says

    07/28/2017 at 11:37 am

I am right there with you about the summer running. I am not enjoying it at all this year.

Love the hangers that you found to hold all of your skirts!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:29 pm

We will make it through and be stronger for it! Well that’s what people keep saying anyway

  13. Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says

    07/28/2017 at 12:34 pm

Those hangers are awesome! I’m always looking for space-saving ideas. My shoes are out of control… any solutions for that?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:30 pm

Well I need to think on the shoe idea. I have so many running/workout shoes. I will come up with something!

  14. HoHo Runs says

    07/28/2017 at 1:17 pm

I’m not watching very much TV this summer. I wish I could find a couple of good shows. I love my skirts too, but I runfess — I save them for race day. Yep, unless I’m trying out a new skirt I will not wear it on a training run. I need therapy… Words: Inspirational, Dedicated, Strong, Leader, Athlete… should I keep going?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:31 pm

Thanks you are so sweet! Appreciate the ideas and the support

  15. [email protected] says

    07/28/2017 at 1:48 pm

Wow! You do have alot of running skirts. I’d like to add to my collection. Those hangers are so nicer and keep everything organized. Mine are just shoved in a drawer.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 2:32 pm

I had mine in a drawer but I could never find anything!

  16. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    07/28/2017 at 2:33 pm

Oh, you know I do my share of whining! And I’ll be sharing with you what show we’re currently binge watching (although if you watch a couple of episodes a night is it really binge watching?) at your coffee date next week.

How about Persevere for your word? Just sayin’.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 5:30 pm

Ok now I am very curious about what you are watching! Hmm persevere

  17. Susan @ Culinary Envy says

    07/28/2017 at 2:37 pm

I too am missing the cold weather! Those are 2 new shows to me on Netflix, so I will have to check them out.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2017 at 5:33 pm

I guess fall will be here before we know it!

  18. Tamieka says

    07/28/2017 at 8:56 pm

Wow! Thanks for sharing those feelings. Doesn’t sound like whining to me at all.

Wow that’s a lot of skirts!!

    Binge watching….Love, Wentworth, Criminal Minds.

Summer running sucks! Why did I sign up for a Fall tri…lol!

I need to make my way back to the Weekly Wrap!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/29/2017 at 8:06 am

Thanks for listening! Summer running has been so hard this year for me too. I do have a lot of skirts and that was not all of them lol. I need to check out Wentworth thanks. Hope to see you at the weekly wrap tomorrow and coffee date next week

  19. Kimberly Hatting says

    07/28/2017 at 10:33 pm

I’ve been binge watching Shameless…..(almost embarrassing, but the show is SO funny). Gosh, you do have quite a collection of skirts 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/29/2017 at 8:08 am

I watched Shameless when it first started years back and then it just got kind of over the top and I lost interest.I do have lots of skirts 🙂

  20. Natalie says

    07/29/2017 at 12:39 am

I honestly didn’t think you were whining at all. Super cute skirts friend – I need more running clothes.
July was a topsy turvy month for me as well – I guess that’s the way it goes some months, right? Not really ready to let this month go – it flew by!
Can’t wait to read your Skirt Sports post. Have a great weekend! xx

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/29/2017 at 8:09 am

Yes some months are just crazy huh? Happy running

  21. Teresa says

    07/29/2017 at 10:53 am

The heat …Omg! That’s why I’m biking so much. I know others are probably tired of hearing me whine about the heat but it’s just so dang brutal!

I sooooo need those hangers! I can barely open and close my workout drawer for all of the shorts and skirts! I really need to get rid of a few things as well.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/29/2017 at 8:23 pm

Ha I know the heat! I am glad I am not the only one. The hangers are amazing I am getting more for my pants!

  22. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

    07/29/2017 at 12:23 pm

It was 63° out there when I ran this morning at 8:30. I caught a little opening between the two rain storms and got so lucky with the temperature. I got home just before the second downpour!

    • Debbie @ Deb Runs says

      07/29/2017 at 12:24 pm

P.S. I think we’ve all been a little whinier than usual about the heat and humidity this summer.

      • Deborah Brooks says

        07/29/2017 at 8:24 pm

Yes! Thanks I know I have

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/29/2017 at 8:24 pm

That is fabulous! I am running in the morning and I am beyond excited about the temps
