I will be returning from our epic Italian vacation today however, I couldn’t miss a chance to share a few confessions and runfessions. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
July 2023 Runfessions and Confessions
I confess and runfess…
We spent almost 3 weeks traveling in Italy and I only ran 1 time. While we did lots of walking and some hiking, this runner girl only ran 1 time. The heat was just too much and our days were filled with exploring and sightseeing and lots of Italian food. Speaking of which…
I confess and Runfess…
I ate pizza and pasta and or gelato almost everyday of our trip. Italian food is my absolute favorite and it is just so much better here. I decided I was not going to worry about calories or tracking food or anything for the whole trip. Do I feel guilty about it? Honestly, no. I enjoyed every bite of pizza and every taste of spaghetti. The mozzarella cheese was life changing. How often am I in Italy?
So what’s my plan? I am going to go right back to doing what I was doing before I left. Returning to my regular exercise and eating plan should be just what I need to get back on track. No, I have not weighed myself yet. I figured why bother? I’ll just give myself a week or two and see how I feel. I will give you an update next week at the August Ultimate Coffee date.
I have not been much of a fitness blogger this month, so if that doesn’t pan out, maybe I will be a travel, fashion and food influencer. Ciao!

I could not agree more. The food in Italy is the best. My favorite gelato in the world is in Rome, at a place near the Forum. We will both get back on track! You only live once!
Deborah Brooks says
Our favorite gelato place is there too Fridgadarium ( we went a number of times)

I definitely wouldn’t worry about the food either — and like I said, you usually more than make up for it with walking on vacation! I’d definitely be eating the pizza, pasta, and gelato.
And running isn’t going anywhere. It’s still right here! Just ease back into it. 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
No way I could pass up all that yummy food!
Jenny says
I’m glad you enjoyed your trip! You would look back and regret it if you hadn’t eaten your favorite foods. When you return to your usual exercise and eating, you’ll get back to normal quickly enough.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I agree! That is my plan
Darlene S. Cardillo says
It looked like an amazing trip. I would do the same. Pasta pizza and gelato. You’re calling my name.
Deborah Brooks says
It was so amazing not sure I can go back to eating “Italian food” in the US
Kimberly Hatting says
What a fabulous trip! Thanks for bringing us along to see all of the sights. I only wish we could have sampled all the food! Glad you made it back home safely 😉
Deborah Brooks says
The food was just Devine! I think I will do my favorite foods post 🙂
Coco says
Hah! My neighbor is a travel writer. That IS the life. 🙂
So glad you enjoyed Italy. You absolutely should!
Deborah Brooks says
I could definitely enjoy that!

I hear you loud and clear Deborah. I absolutely LOVE Italy. I am counting down to my trip in just 5 weeks. Life is too short to not eat the best food in the actual place it comes from! Vacation is for enjoying, once you’re home you be back on track again.
Deborah Brooks says
That is the plan!nI hope you have just as much fun as we did
San says
That pizza! OMG, authentic Italian pizza is just the best. Have you tried it with tuna? It’s a staple in Italy, but you can’t get a pizza with tuna (pizza tonno) here anywhere LOL
Deborah Brooks says
I love tuna and I love pizza but not together 🙂 My husband got the veal with tuna which is a very common dish in Rome
Jenn says
Listen. You can’t help but to eat all the cheese, pasta, and gelato in Italy. It’s just so good. So much better than here.
I hope you had a wonderful time.
Deborah Brooks says
So good! No regrets
