Thanks for joining me and Coco for the May 2022 Ultimate Coffee Date. I feel like I am often traveling on our coffee date days and today is no exception. I am in Bloomington, Indiana for the weekend. Grab your mug and I will tell you all about why I am here.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I can’t believe this is college Graduation weekend for my son already! These last 4 years really seemed to fly by. I know he thinks so too. Having lost 1.5 years of college due to covid, it seems crazy it is already graduation time. Indiana University will forever hold a place in our family’s hearts. Our daughter also graduated from IU 3 years ago. We have spent the last 7 years visiting, moving in and out of dorms and apartments, and cheering on our Hoosiers at football and basketball games.

This weekend is a happy one but also bittersweet because who knows if I will ever have a reason to return to Bloomington. My parents came along with us for graduation so that makes it extra special for all of us. I will sure miss my runs through campus, stops at The Sample Gates, and the weekend visits here. Okay, I should stop now because I am already tearing up writing this.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I do want to make sure to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of my favorite mother runners out there. You all continue to motivate and inspire me every day to push myself to be all that I can be. I also know that mother’s day can be hard for some of you and I offer a virtual hug.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Oh Deborah! First off, a big congratulations to your son! What an exciting milestone. But also I can see how it’s bittersweet… it will be hard for you to leave IU after seven years! My son is finishing his freshman year and it went so fast- I can see how all of college is going to fly by.
Have a wonderful weekend! And Happy Mother’s Day to you too!

I miss my runs from my parents’ house to Vassar College — it was a nice place to run around. Running where she lives now — I’ve done it, but I really have to be motivated. And it’s just difficult with 3 women sharing a small, 2 bathroom (and 2 bedroom!) apartment.

You can always go visit without having to see a kid. 🙂

Congrats to your family & your son! Have a wonderful weekend & Happy Mother’s Day.
