Well, it’s like the 10th week of January so it’s that time again. Time to bare our soles and souls with the January 2025 Runfessions and Confessions. Let’s jump right in! Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
January 2025 Runfessions and Confessions
I Runfess and Confess…
Twice this week I have microwaved some protein to add to my lunch salad and forgot to put it on. Later, I found it in said microwave. Seriously, what is wrong with me? For someone who is really trying to prioritize protein, this is quite frustrating! Have you ever done this? My husband thinks it’s so odd!
I Runfess and Confess…
I would love to hear your thoughts on a perplexing and frustrating situation at the US Postal Service office. To back up, I mailed out a large stack of holiday cards last month. These cards were ordered from the same company I’ve been sourcing my cards from for years. They have my return address printed on the back as people do.
Fast forward, a few weeks later, a large stack of these cards were returned to me unprocessed. Perplexed, I went into the post office to inquire. I was told that “In the US, we do not put return addresses on the back of envelopes”. Hmm. Really? I’ve been doing this for decades.
The post office was crowded and others in line could hear my discussion. I heard many other customers discussing how they all did this as well. The postal worker told me the only way I could mail them was if she crossed out my return address on the back. Thanks, I actually paid extra for that.
So, needless to say, I was super annoyed and also perplexed. So if you are still following, please tell me, do you have cards or stationary with your return address printed on the back? Do they arrive at their destination? Am I crazy?
That’s all I’ve got to Runfess and confess today! Thanks for allowing me to get that off of my chest. See you next week for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
How frustrating!
The same thing happened to me years ago in Switzerland. I dropped off a letter at the post office with my address—intended as the return address—on the back of the envelope. The employee, clearly exasperated by my ignorance, informed me that the return address must go in the top left corner on the front. Well, who knew?
I clearly need to get to the bottom of this!
That sounds like a random rule that no one knew about and someone decided to comply with. So odd–I’ve gotten plenty of mail with the return address on the back this year! BTW, I did get your card. Thank you!
It is so odd! I clearly need to figure it out before the wedding invites go out
Wait- what. You can’t put return addresses on the backs of envelopes???? I’ve been doing that forever! It sounds like they only flagged you because they were…printed on? But who even knew this, anyway? That’s annoying⁄
It is a strange occurrence for sure and I need to get to the bottom of it
That postal thing sounds crazy! I often do the same (on more “formal” mail pieces), and I certainly receive plenty from peeps who have done the same. I guess it’s a good thing to know now with the wedding stuff…glass half full 🙂
I will get to the bottom of this
That is strange and I too did get our card. Thanks!
I will need to get to the bottom of it!
I have not heard of that rule and I sometimes put my return address on the back. I wonder if it stems from automatic processing/scanning and machines that can’t tell the difference between the front and the back, but look for the address in the middle?
I was pi$$ed when I handed in a card to mail with other packages and the guy made me pay more because it was SQUARE. I’m sure if I’d slipped it in a mailbox it would have been delivered.
LOL on forgetting things in the microwave. My husband does that sometimes.
The extra charge for the square card has always been a thing. yes, I do think it has something to do with how it is scanned
I was aware that the correct place for the return address is in the top left corner, HOWEVER I’ve never heard of mail not getting delivered because it is on the back. What if there is no return address at all? That is a pile of BS in my opinion. What a PIA.
That salad looks delicious!
It is a pain in the ass for sure! I need to get to the bottom of it all
I’ve run into the square thing Coco mentioned, but not yours. I can’t swear I never have put it there/ Sounds like oone office preference. Nothing on USPS that I see.
Not surprised re: protein, you have a lot going on. You’re allowed to be scattered.
I was a little scattered indeed!
Interesting. I haven’t really mailed anything in a while, and I have been putting the return address on the front because I don’t have the patience for aesthetic things in the mail anymore. I’ve done it for holiday cards and invitations, but I guess this is just new policy.
I’m not so sure but I will get to the bottom of it!
