It is the first Confessions and Runfessions of 2023l I am sure I can come up with a few interesting tidbits to share. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
January 2023 confessions and Runfessions
I confess and runfess …
Remeber how excited I was a few months ago to sign up for the IPhone photography class? Well, I got about a third of the way through and then kind of forgot about it. Yep, I am a photo school dropout. I am not really one to quit things so it kind of annoys me. Maybe I will pick it up again.
I confess and runfess…
I had a major panic attack a few weeks ago when I got an abnormal Pap smear test back. Apparently, the result I got is quite common especially for women in their 50’s. What was really upsetting though was to open my email test results and see this myself before hearing from the doctor. It is now commonplace for labs to send test results to patients before the doctor has had a chance to see it. She told me not to google it. I of course did anyway. Not to worry, she is not alarmed and I don’t need to retest until next year. However, this is a great reminder to stay on top of screenings.
I confess and runfess…
I find it super annoying that the conditioner always runs out way before the shampoo does. I buy them in sets and I always have twice as much shampoo. Yes, I know this sounds silly but it really does annoy me every time! Does this happen to you too? Does it drive you crazy or is it just me?
My 2023 runfessions and confessions are just beginning! Join us next week for the Ultimate Coffee Date.

I just use liquid coconut oil for conditioner and it works super well for me — of course like everything these days, it’s super pricey.
I’m sorry about the pap results, but glad your doctor isn’t worried about it.
I usually have so many courses I want to do that I often don’t even get to some. I loved my iphone photography courses (yes, I’ve done a few). It definitely helped. I didn’t finish the second one, but that’s the beauty of it — it’s not going anywhere.
Deborah Brooks says
I am sure I will finish the photo course at some point! 🙂

Ugh on the pap smear scare. My Mom has learned not to try to read her x-ray and MRI results (they show old osteoporosis fractures that have healed), but it’s frustrating when certain doctors won’t do it by phone and you have to wait a week or more for an appointment.
I don’t use conditioner — my hair is too fine.
Deborah Brooks says
My Dr did call me the same day but I had already seen the results myself first. I am not sure that is the best process
Marcia Kadens says
I wonder why you dropped off the photo course? Were you not learning anything new?? Sorry about the Pap scare. Nobody needs that kind of worry! I do not have that problem with conditioner. Maybe I don’t use enough?
Deborah Brooks says
I do like the photo course but I got caught up over the holidays. I am sure I will go back and finish it soon. I have so much hair I probably use too much
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I planned to take an iPhone class too. I forgot to even sign up. Thanks for the reminder. But not sure I have time now.
Phew on the Pap smear.
Yes I run out of conditioner first too.
Deborah Brooks says
ha I am sure I will finish the photo class soon. There are a lot of videos!

I am going through some first world probs with my hair products. These are pricey, from my stylist, and they’re not working for me the way others have. The shampoo is like water…doesn’t lather-up. The conditioner is really thick & comes in a squeeze tube. The leave-in conditioner leaves my hair frizzy. Ugh. Yeah, and the conditioner does runout much sooner! I have Ann appointment next week & am hoping for some better stuff…
Deborah Brooks says
Finding the right hair products is not always easy!! 🙂
Jenny says
I think the problem is you have super thick hair. I don’t have that problem with conditioner, because I don’t have as much hair to put it in.
Yes, it’s always scary to get an abnormal test result! It seems like there’s something wrong with the process- you shouldn’t be getting alarming test results before your doctor has a chance to explain it. Anyway, I’m glad everything is okay!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I do have very thick hair and I probably use twice as much conditioner as shampoo I agree, it is alarming to get these kinds of results without any explanation.
Wendy says
ALL THE TIME re: the conditioner running out before the shampoo. So odd. But I’m prepared for it with an extra conditioner in the closet.
We in the medical field have mixed feelings about lab results being available to patients/parents. We get questions all the time about ‘abnormal’ labs results when they are right at the cutoff. And of course everyone googles their results and catastrophizes them!
Deborah Brooks says
I know we talked about the test result situation a few weeks ago. I am not sure it is the best thing for anyone!
Jenn says
Those abnormal pap smears are the worst. I’m glad everything is ok.
Deborah Brooks says
me too thank you
Jessie says
oh man, it’s so hard not to google the results when you get them ahead of time! Glad it’s nothing too concerning though.
Ha, totally feel you on the conditioner when it’s a great little pairing.
Deborah Brooks says
It is hard not to start googling!
Michelle says
It’s so frustrating that they send the lab results before your doctor calls – there should be a better process! Sorry for the scare but glad you’re ok.
I always run out of conditioner before the shampoo – the curse of thick hair.
Deborah Brooks says
I agree there needs to be a better process. I am glad it is nothing but I will still worry until the next test.
