I would be interested in Zarbees. I use Emergen-C during the winter. You raise some very good points, although I must admit I avoid the flu shot. It is also a very fine balance of exercise versus overtraining so I’m very cautious during the winter months to dial back a workout or take a rest day if I’m feeling particularly sluggish.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/15/2015 at 6:55 am

It is always a balance for sure. These are similar to emergen-c but all the ingredients are natural. I am really liking them

I could feel myself staring to get a bit icky yesterday (my allergies are really acting up). That is a great tip about the toothbrush! But most importantly, I need to get some more Zarbees in my life 😀

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/15/2015 at 6:58 am

My allergies are bothering me too. Hopefully they will be over soon

It does seem that the higher my mileage, the more likely I am to get sick. But as a working mom with busy kids, I don’t have time to let a cold or other illness knock me out. It sounds kind of silly, but I like to drink my vitamins so I will mix up a drink with loads of vitamins. I also try to make sure I get enough sleep…as if there is any such thing as enough!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/15/2015 at 1:23 pm

Doesn’t sound silly to me I totally get it! Thanks for stopping in

I’d love to try Zanbees! Definitely a great addition to a preventative health routine. I try to get better sleep in the winter, stay warm and bundled, and of course get my flu shot – although I haven’t done so this year 🙁 Need to get on that ASAP!

With my Epstien Barr I am always more likely to catch a cold then others. So keeping up on good sleeping habits and getting in the vitamins is a must.
I haven’t tried this brand before, I think the first time I heard of it was on your blog if I remember a while back you talked about it. I really should look into this stuff and give it a try for upcoming winter!

    • Deborah Brooks says

During cold and flu season, I try to be extra diligent about everything you mentioned: extra sleep, lots of fruits and vegetables, disinfecting EVERYTHING, but I never think to replace my toothbrush! Thanks for the tip!
I would love to Zarbees. It sounds like a great product!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/15/2015 at 1:43 pm

Ah yes the toothbrush very important!! Zarbess are great I am really enjoying them

  14. Heather says

    09/15/2015 at 12:31 pm

I think that eating right, exercising, and sleep are very important for every day living. People rely too much on a vaccination and expect that to keep them safe, when in reality if you are not doing anything else to build up your immune system you are still going to get sick. Everything in moderation. Thanks for the information

Everyone has to get a flu shot, super important! You cannot get enough sleep or wash your hands enough 🙂 All great tips! Amazing what hydration will do for you to. I think it is funny during flu season they don’t encourage shaking hands at church! I would love a sample! Send a little multi-vitamin action my way!

I love that you said to get the flu shot!!! I get so much push back on this at work, and I can’t argue with people…altho their reasons for not getting it are crazy. “I don’t believe it the flu shot”…as if it were a religion! Even if it is a bad match (like last year), getting it every year gives you some cummulative immunity over any strain…

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/15/2015 at 8:19 pm

I totally agree doesn’t make sense to me but I guess it’s too political to get into on here!

  18. Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says

I always focus on trying to sweat out my germs, though if I feel myself coming down with something I also know that extra rest is necessary too.

I noticed that they just installed a hand sanitizer dispenser outside the door of my exercise class. I now make sure I use it EVERY SINGLE TIME. I know people wipe things off but lets face it, they often don’t do a great job. This way I know I’m not bringing home any germs with me from the gym!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/16/2015 at 3:48 pm

oh exactly! Gyms are quite the petri dish of germs.

    • Deborah Brooks says

I do or try to do (get plenty of sleep) all of these except get the flu shot. When I interned at a hospital in Jacksonville they made me get the flu shot and that has been the only year that I have ever gotten the flu. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence or not, but since then I haven’t gotten the flu shot and I’ve been flu free 🙂

I absolutely love Zarbee’s and I love that my husband does too. So natural, great for us, and DELICIOUS! My husband loves them before his morning workouts and I love them to just help make me feel amazing throughout the day. I can definitely tell the difference when I’ve had some Zarbee’s. Mixed berry with honey and the honey apple cranberry antioxidant/multivitamin drink mixes are my favorites!!! Enjoy and stay well!!! Never though about replacing tooth brush after being sick! Is that gross? Haha. Will definitely start now! 😛

We have been so lucky the past few years. Flu has been staying away from the kids, however I got it bad last season. Hopefully that means I am good to go for this year. I disinfect everywhere and I have a habit of wiping down all door handles every other day {every time after we have company} and all the bathrooms. I am a bit OCD about that and Lysol and Clorox are my favorite brands to keep in the house.
These Zarbee’s Naturals are awesome, I am loading myself up with the Immune System.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/20/2015 at 1:37 pm

Well I guess I am a little OCD too bc I do all the same things!
