Thanks for joining Kim and Me for the Weekly Run Down. I was cramming to get all my holiday errands done this week before we head out of town again. Holiday Hustling all week! Here is a peek into my fitness and running this week.
Holiday Hustling
Monday- hip/glutes mobility + upper body + core + stretch
I woke up feeling crampy but the best cure for that is movement. A tough Matty upper body class was just what I needed. I cut my usual workout a little short. Can you believe I was not in the mood for a photo today!?
Tuesday-5 mile tempo run + stretch
It was one of those days! First, my parents called at 12:30 am last night to say, “hi” from their cruise in Asia. Somehow they forgot about the 12 hour time difference. Oh, and they both have covid. They are doing fine. You do not call your kids in the middle of the night unless it’s an emergency!
Then, I finally fall back to sleep only to be awoken by my husband an hour later when he returned from a poker game with his buddies. Then, he wants to start chatting because “I am up already”. People! I need my sleep so I can run.
Nonetheless, I got myself up and it’s pouring out there. But, today is a run day and this runner girl needs her run. Today’s tempo run had 5 spicy 2 minutes at tempo pace intervals. The rain and cold seemed to work in our favor and we got it done. It was an extra coffee day for sure!
Wednesday- upper & lower body strength + core + cycle + barre and stretch
Thursday-5.5 mil run + stretch + yoga
Today’s run was threshold intervals at 4 min, 5 min and 6 minutes. These are hard to do and stay on pace. We got it done on a mild day for December. It will be nice to have easier runs on the schedule for next week.
Friday-full body strength + barre + core + yoga and stretch
I was on a mission to get in a good workout today and hit all the Peloton categories before heading out tomorrow.
Saturday- Fly to Aruba
We headed to our happy place to spend the holidays. Stay tuned for lots of warm and sunny photos coming your way. We arrived just in time for our first sunset.
Sunday- I am not sure yet! There will definitely be a beach walk or run.

Enjoy your time in Aruba!! I’ll be living vicariously through you as I face the Iowa weather on my outdoor activities 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I guess you will!
Wendy says
Aruba could be my happy place too! I’m looking forward to seeing your adventures! Will you be there for the whole month?
Deborah Brooks says
We are staying 2 weeks this year. Kids will join us next week. 🙂
Melissa says
Oh my goodness your Tuesday night! Glad your parents are doing OK. I also had some nights with less than stellar sleep this week. but you got it in! nice job!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, parents! They are totally fine now and have left their ship to finish off their last few days of traveling.
Coco says
Midnight phone calls are the worst! My adrenaline goes through the roof ! Glad it was just a time zone mishap.
LOL on the extra coffee day. I’m see a few of those in my future.
Enjoy Aruba!
Deborah Brooks says
I know I freak out when someone calls that late and then cannot fall back to sleep. They are all recovered now and will be flying back home soon.
Susanne says
Oh my goodness, your holiday location! I need anything to get warmed up right now.
I would absolutely panic if my parents called me at that time of the day! I hope they remain ok despite Covid.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, they are both ok now thankfully! I hope you stay warm over there 🙂
Debbie says
Have a wonderful time in Aruba! I’m looking forward to see all of your pictures in the warm sunshine!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks looking forward to a relaxing 2 weeks here
Catrina says
It’s Aruba time, YAY! Looking forward to seeing your photos next week!
Your husband reminds me of when Kai came home late the other night. I was sleeping peacefully until he wrapped his ice-cold feet around mine when he got to bed. Husbands are the worst, ha!
Deborah Brooks says
They do mess up our sleeping don’t they!?
Jenny says
Wow, enjoy your vacation! I’m sure we’re in for a treat with all your photos. I love your festive running gear for your run on Thursday. And, yes!!! Why do people not realize we need to sleep??? Sheesh.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha on the sleep! I brought all of my festive running gear with me to Aruba so don’t worry 🙂
Jessie says
Aruba looks incredible, enjoy! The sun and warmth must feel great and running in shorts and a tank will be fab. Happy holidays to you!
Deborah Brooks says
I get all excited about running in a tank until I remember how hot it is! 🙂 No complaints though I love it here
Michelle says
Oh my gosh, that middle-of-the-night call would have sent me into a panic! Hope your folks are feeling ok.
Enjoy your island time 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
They are doing much better and all is good with them now. Thanks!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Enjoy Aruba!
Oh no on your parents having COVID. My husband has an uncle who got COVID on a cruise and then he had to quarantine. Apparently he wants to go on a cruise with his son (my husband’s cousin) — I’m like, you paid all that money to be “locked” in your cabin? No thanks!
I used to love cruising . . .
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it was a bummer that they had to stay in their room but it was at the end of their long cruise. They are all fine now thankfully
Kim G says
Another great week for you, and I hope you have a blast in Aruba!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks so much Kim!
Cari says
Glad your folks are OK. But you had quite the night. I’m surprised you were coherent to talk Poker.
Movement is the cure for so much. Kudos on hitting the paces!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, my parents totally freaked me out! They are totally fine now and sightseeing around Singapore for a few more days. I get my traveling genes from them 🙂
Cari says
I know you’re Scorpio, but you definitely have the “born under a wandering star” Sag element. 😀
Deborah Brooks says
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about but I assume it’s good!
Jenn says
Not going to lie – I’m jealous of your holiday away! I would love to be spending the vacation in the mountains. Sigh. Maybe soon.
Deborah Brooks says
I guess you can have a beach day anytime! There is something so peaceful about the sound of the water
Liz Dexter says
Have a super trip! Well, you’re having one by now as I’m all behind!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, we are thanks!
