Holiday Hustling Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining Kim and Me for the Weekly Run Down. I was cramming to get all my holiday errands done this week before we head out of town again. Holiday Hustling all week! Here is a peek into my fitness and running this week.

weekly run down

Holiday Hustling

Monday- hip/glutes mobility + upper body + core + stretch

I woke up feeling crampy but the best cure for that is movement. A tough Matty upper body class was just what I needed. I cut my usual workout a little short. Can you believe I was not in the mood for a photo today!?

Tuesday-5 mile tempo run + stretch

It was one of those days! First, my parents called at 12:30 am last night to say, “hi” from their cruise in Asia. Somehow they forgot about the 12 hour time difference. Oh, and they both have covid. They are doing fine. You do not call your kids in the middle of the night unless it’s an emergency!

Then, I finally fall back to sleep only to be awoken by my husband an hour later when he returned from a poker game with his buddies. Then, he wants to start chatting because “I am up already”. People! I need my sleep so I can run.

Nonetheless, I got myself up and it’s pouring out there. But, today is a run day and this runner girl needs her run. Today’s tempo run had 5 spicy 2 minutes at tempo pace intervals. The rain and cold seemed to work in our favor and we got it done. It was an extra coffee day for sure!

Wednesday- upper & lower body strength + core + cycle + barre and stretch

Thursday-5.5 mil run + stretch + yoga

Today’s run was threshold intervals at 4 min, 5 min and 6 minutes. These are hard to do and stay on pace. We got it  done on a mild day for December. It will be nice to have easier runs on the schedule for next week.

Friday-full body strength + barre + core + yoga and stretch

I was on a mission to get in a good workout today and hit all the Peloton categories before heading out tomorrow.

Saturday- Fly to Aruba

We headed to our happy place to spend the holidays. Stay tuned for lots of warm and sunny photos coming your way. We arrived just in time for our first sunset.

Sunday- I am not sure yet! There will definitely be a beach walk or run.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I would absolutely panic if my parents called me at that time of the day! I hope they remain ok despite Covid.

It’s Aruba time, YAY! Looking forward to seeing your photos next week!

Your husband reminds me of when Kai came home late the other night. I was sleeping peacefully until he wrapped his ice-cold feet around mine when he got to bed. Husbands are the worst, ha!

      12/11/2022 at 10:25 pm

    Enjoy Aruba!

Oh no on your parents having COVID. My husband has an uncle who got COVID on a cruise and then he had to quarantine. Apparently he wants to go on a cruise with his son (my husband’s cousin) — I’m like, you paid all that money to be “locked” in your cabin? No thanks!

    I used to love cruising . . .

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/11/2022 at 10:28 pm

Yes, it was a bummer that they had to stay in their room but it was at the end of their long cruise. They are all fine now thankfully

Movement is the cure for so much. Kudos on hitting the paces!

      12/12/2022 at 8:13 am

Yes, my parents totally freaked me out! They are totally fine now and sightseeing around Singapore for a few more days. I get my traveling genes from them 🙂
