I am still a little jet lagged and still riding high from all the adventures of the last two weeks in Alaska. While it’s impossible to recount all the beauty, adventure, activity and majesty of Alaska in one short post, I’m going to give you some of the highlights from our Alaska cruise.
Highlights from our Alaska Cruise
After a long flight, we arrived in Vancouver where our Seabourn Cruise would begin. In case you missed it, I started off with a fabulous City Running Tour in Vancouver. A city I can’t wait to get back to soon.
Sea Cycling in Ketchikan
What a different experience to see the wildlife up close while pedaling about 2 miles on a sea cycle. We saw tons of bald eagles, seals and salmon up close. The only day that we had a little rain.
Kayaking in Misty Fjords
One of the top experiences we had! We jumped into kayaks straight off our ship and explored the Inside Passage of Alaska. Paddling right by waterfalls and glaciers was an experience I will never forget. Trying to steer a double kayak is not always easy!
Hiking in Rainbow Falls
Hiking through a temperate Rain Forest in Wrangell. Luckily we had a dry, warm day as we crossed creeks and headed towards the summit for a picturesque view.
Our second Kayak adventure
This was one of the most beautiful and unique experiences. The water was super cold so we had to suit up in these dry suits. Kayaking amongst floating icebergs and seals was epic. Quite the current out there too from the winds off of the glacier. A once in a lifetime experience.
Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?
In the middle of our very scenic cycling tour in Haines, we literally had to stop for bears in the road. Only in Alaska! We were able to watch the brown bears fish out salmon from the river and feed their cubs. Truly epic! This spot is frequented by bears during salmon season and there is literally a forest ranger there to protect them.
My first whale tail
Admittedly, I was not enthused about going whale watching but it was pretty cool to see them up close. Even managed to capture this tail as he dove in.
Got in one run too!
Finally got my Alaskan run in on one of our last days. 62 degrees and sunny is kind of unheard of this time of year. We were so incredibly lucky with the weather the whole trip.
Thanks so much for taking the time to check out all of my highlights from our Alaska cruise. Truly one of the best trips we have ever taken. The pictures do not do it justice. I was blown away by the beauty and tranquility. Hope I have the chance to go back and see the rest of the state at some point.
What was the best vacation that you have ever taken? Ever been to Alaska?

Each picture was better than the last in this post. Gorgeous!! I’m glad to hear the weather was nice for you on the trip.
I’ve never been to Alaska but I definitely want to go. I think the best trip I’ve ever been on was when I went to Europe for a school project and was able to spend a few days in Paris and Switzerland after the project was over.
Deborah Brooks says
The photos really did not do it justice at all. Switzerland was always one of my fave places as well

I think Yellowstone tops my list of best vacations taken, but Alaska is on my list of places I’d love to go and this really whet my appetite! Nature is so amazing and we have so many down-right beautiful places in our country!
Deborah Brooks says
WE sure do! So glad that we got to see so much beauty of country up close

Deborah Brooks says
We had an absolutely amazing time!

Wow, you were very active while in Alaska!
We visited Alaska a few years back but were more “leisure” about it..haha. We did see a brown bear while on the white pass railroad in Scagway and my favorite activity so far was Whale watching! Glad you got to see that!
Deborah Brooks says
We were super active and even the hubs loved it!

I completely enjoyed all your posts of your trip. I’d love to go to Alaska–it looks just lovely! The kayaking had to be so much fun.
We saw a bear in the road once in Wisconsin! That is a story I will have to tell you in person the next time I see you…
Deborah Brooks says
Yet another reason to get together again soon! 🙂

It really was a blast!

I keep telling people now if they want to go to Alaska, do a cruise! It makes it so much easier to get places, and there are so many tours to choose from. My mom and I will start scrapbooking the trip, and I have one more scrapbook shipment on its way.
Deborah Brooks says
It will be fun to scrapbook your memories too

We took a cruise to Alaska several years ago. I wish I could interest my husband in kayaking! We never did that, but we still had an awesome vacation and of course someday I have to go back & run a half there. 🙂
Our favorite trips have been Hawaii (three times!) and Greece. And Sedona, and hiking in UT, and . . . 🙂
We did not see any bears in Alaska though!
Deborah Brooks says
Hawaii and Greece are pretty amazing too!

That eagle and those glaciers – awesome!
But that Eagles’ hat. Needs to come with a warning 😉 #NYGForever
Glad you had a such a good trip
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha my hubs is a huge Eagles fan!

Beautiful! Aren’t brown bears dangerous? Or are they just like Black bear and it’s grizzley bears that are very bad?
Deborah Brooks says
They can be very dangerous yes. I was not scared as we were with the forest rangers and guides who told us where to stay while the bears were present. Apparently they only attack when threatened or while their cubs are threatened.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I have not been to Alaska, but I think it would be a great place to see. I loved following along on your adventures on Instagram!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks we had the best time ever!
