Hello September! Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. September could not come fast enough for me. I am over all this heat and humidity and ready for some fabulous fall runs. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness and fun.

weekly run down

Hello September

Monday- barre + core + upper/lower body strength + cycle

Some Mondays are harder to get moving and this was one of them. I did manage a pretty good workout and a short Peloton cycle class.

hello September

We checked off another activity on my summer bucket list with a Michael Bublé concert. It’s very unlike me to be out and about late on a Monday night.

hello September
he was so good!

Tuesday- 4 ish mile tempo run + barre + stretch

I was seriously dragging this morning after our late night out. Not to keep complaining about the summer heat but come on, 92% humidity is just ridiculous. One of my running buddies said we are in “survival mode” right now. Doing our best out there. Running in these temps just wipes me out for the day!

hello September

Wednesday- barre + core + upper/lower body strength + cycle

A great mix of strength and mobility today. I saved my stretch class for later in the day.

Thursday- 10K run + stretch + barre

Today’s run was a gift! I woke to lower humidity (75% instead of 90%) which made a huge difference for me. I am so temperature affected. While our lower humidity is not going to last long, this was just what I needed 4 weeks out from the Maine half.

hello September

Friday- core + barre + upper body + 2.5 mile walk

A shorter lower intensity Peloton workout day over here. I met a friend for an afternoon walk.

hello September
modeling new fall Brooks gear

Saturday- rest day

Peloton stretch and barre to keep up my streak.

Sunday- on the plan: 10 mile DC monument run

So excited to meet up with Coco, Cari, and Montana for a full on tourist DC Monument Run. Stay tuned for lots of photos.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I saw Michel buble before he was famous. He’s great.

I am envious of your DC monument run! I love DC, and running with friends would inky make better 🙂 I can tolerate the extreme heat & humidity (as you know), but that doesn’t mean I love it… I do appreciate when Momma N “lightens up” and shows us some grace (in all seasons). Enjoy your run today!

Congrats on the late Monday night 🙂 Looks like you had great seats! I was happy that we had balcony seats at the Blondie concert because everyone stayed seated during the show. haha! That sounds like a really fun run you have planned today. I’m sure the miles will fly by!

I hear you on the humidity effecting your run! Sometimes I conquer it & sometimes it conquers me.

We say Michael Buble a few years back. I love how upbeat his music is!

Your monument run sounds amazing. Enjoy!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2022 at 12:25 pm

He is a great performer for sure! The humidity is winning right now but the end is near-Ihope

Yay for your fun monuments run today! You guys are going to have a blast! The weather here at the beach has been consistently warm to hot, but not unbearably humid and the breeze has kept it nice. Although I’m looking forward to cooler morning temps and crisp air, I’m not looking forward to getting when riding my bike.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2022 at 12:26 pm

Yes, temps do feel different on the bike than on foot. I am ready for some relief now though

  9. Jenny says

    09/04/2022 at 10:36 am

I hope the weather is good today for your run- I can’t wait to hear all about it. Yes, you must be pretty happy about fall approaching! I can’t believe you grew up in Florida- you must have been pretty miserable.
I love those Brooks fall colors!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2022 at 12:27 pm

ha ha I don’t remember much except going to the beach and the pool a lot. I obviously was a kid and not a runner so way different perspecitive

  10. Coco says

    09/04/2022 at 11:46 am

    So great seeing you today!

Hopefully our weather will break for good soon. It really is rough in the humidity.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2022 at 12:27 pm

It did turn out to be sunnier and hotter than expected but so fun to see you all

  11. Michelle says

    09/04/2022 at 11:59 am

    So fun to see Buble!

I feel you on the difference a drop in the humidity can make! I’m more than ready for fall weather.

Your monument run with Coco and Cari sounds like so much fun – enjoy!

Looking forward to seeing your meetup! Humidity is awful, isn’t it. We’re having some better weeks here now, although we have thunderstorms predicted all week which isn’t going to be huge fun.

I love Michael Bublé! I bet that concert was awesome. You are a real trooper for getting in your run the morning after the concert in that crazy humidity. I’ve heard that we’re supposed to get a break in the humidity this week – let’s hope that is true!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/06/2022 at 11:35 am

He was a fun concert! I am hoping for less humidity too-for both of us
