Thanks for joining Kim and me for The Weekly Run Down. This week we usher in the month of November. I’m pretty happy to see October go by as it was a pretty challenging one on a number of levels.November is always my favorite month with Thanksgiving and mine and my husband’s birthdays.
Hello November
Sunday- Fly home + barre + stretch + airport walk
It was a long flight home from Las Vegas. Thankfully, I was able to get in a quick barre class and stretch before leaving the hotel. Of course, I got in my airport Peloton walking class.
Monday- Peloton cycle + barre + Upper body strength + afternoon walk
Time change coming back from the west coast always gets me. I slept until almost 10 am! Then, I was determined to get back into action. I started week 2 of Rebecca’s split strength program (Peloton). Today was heavy weights chest and triceps.
Boo! It’s the Skeleton on the Peloton
Tuesday-PT + Peloton cycle + core +lower body strength +stretch class
I had a morning PT session where yes, he again watched me do my squats and dead lifts. Later, came home to do some Peloton cycling and strength. Today was legs and core. Hello November.
Wednesday- Barre + Peloton strength legs and core + 2 mile walk
Started off with a barre warm up and then legs and core with Peloton. Later, I had a 2 mile walk.
I did meet with a new Orthopedist who does not think I have a labrum tear after all. I kind of suspected this from previous experience. She thinks it is my Glute med that is angry. I will be searching for a new PT that can help me work this out. After almost 4 weeks of no running, I am getting frustrated. However, it is getting better slowly so there is that.
Thursday- Fly to Tampa + Airport Peloton walk
unfortunately we had to fly to Tampa early this morning for a memorial service. Left our house at 6 am and attended the service and flew home around 10 pm.
It was a beautiful celebration of life for someone who lived a very long and accomplished life. We were glad we could be there to pay our respects.
Friday-Strength for runners class + Back/biceps strength + Peloton cycle + stretch
I was pretty tired this morning from so much travel but also anxious to get back on track.I was rewarded with my Peloton 15K badge. It’s the little things!
Later, I attended a cocktail party for my sister’s new business opening. This is my mom and my sister.
Saturday-3 mile Peloton walk
II was pretty wiped from a busy week but t was a gorgeous fall morning for a walk and chose to take advantage of that.
It was another week that did not go as planned…However, I finished the week feeling stronger than I started so we will call that a win. I am thinking I may try to run this week and see how it goes!
Wendy says
I had that glute med issue a few years ago–the pelvic health PT diagnosed it and gave me exercises to do. I guess it’s a hard muscle to isolate–doing the big muscle movements, like squats and deadlifts, don’t touch it. Hopefully, this is it and you’ll be back to running soon!
What a busy week you had!
Deborah Brooks says
I sure hope so! I just need to find the right exercises to target it and the right PT to help me. Yes, another busy week!
Debbie says
Oh wow, you had a very busy week with all that travel. Here’s hoping this week is a little tamer.
That’s good news that you don’t have a labrum tear, but I hope the doctors and PT can get to the bottom of whatever it is that’s holding you back.
Deborah Brooks says
thanks me too 🙂
Coco says
Gosh, you had quite a week. Sounds emotionally and physically draining.
I wonder if Hannah C’s barre classes will help target that muscle — especially the ones with the prone glute lifts. I had that assigned to me in PT before ….
I know you won’t be said to say good-bye to Mr. Nike app.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it has been a very emotionally and physically exhausting time all around. I do still do Hannah’s classes and I figure they can’t hurt
Jenny says
Finishing the week stronger than when you started is a huge win! It’s frustrating that your hip issue isn’t resolved, but it sounds like you have a better diagnosis and the start of a plan… so that’s good.
You did have a busy week! Flying to Tampa AND BACK, and attending a memorial service all in the same day would be exhausting.
I’m glad you’re having such beautiful weather- your fall photos are gorgeous!
Deborah Brooks says
It is definitely moving in the right direction thank you. yes, flying to FLA for the day and back was a lot. I don’t know how my husband travels like this all the time. I was wiped
Susanne says
Sounds like a very busy week for you with all the travel and more. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had to stop running for so long. But good to hear you (hopefully) got some answers by the new ortho… good luck with your PT search. Also how nice to hear someone is actually enjoying the arrival of November! To me it has always been a dull month, cold and dreary and nothing interesting happening.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it is finally moving in the right direction. I know you know how frustrating it can be!
Kimberly Hatting says
So sorry about the loss of a loved one, I’m glad you were able to make it to the service. Another busy week for you, in so many ways, but you stayed active & consistent. Hoping this next week is more mellow.
Deborah Brooks says
I sure hope so too!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I’m sorry for your loss & the continued hiatus from running, but I know you will be out there running again.
Good luck to your sister in her new venture! Fabulous photo of the three of you.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Judy! I know I will eventually get back there but it sure is frustrating
San says
Wow, you had a pretty full week. I am hoping you get the glute issue worked out rather sooner than later, how frustrating you have to deal with this.
I am glad you were able to attend the memorial service and also your sister’s business opening. So special to be part of both events.
I had to chuckle about the skeleton on the Peloton LOL
Deborah Brooks says
ha yes do love my skeleton 🙂 It was a busy week for sure. I feel like my glute injury is feeling a lot better hope to run sometime this week
Deborah Brooks says
It was a full week indeed! The glutes are feeling a lot better this week so I am going to try to run on Thursday. Fingers crossed
Lisa @TechChick Adventures says
I am lucky to have a great PT who is also a runner. She works magic! I hope you can find the same. Glad that you are still able to do so many other activities, but a bummer that running still isn’t agreeing with you. I hope you find someone soon to get it all worked out!
Deborah Brooks says
I switched to another person in the practice today and I think she is more able to handle my needs
Black Knight says
I hope you can find the right specialist to solve your problem.
I am lucky because my doctor and my PT are runners but …. my doctor unfortunately will retire at the end of the year.
Deborah Brooks says
I think I have found a new one who can help! Stay tuned
Jessie says
Oh gosh, that’s a lot Deb…the memorial, the injury. ugh. How can two doctors have such vastly different diagnosis? Wild..I hope you find a good physio to help get you back out there, safely. Fingers crossed.
Deborah Brooks says
thanks I am doing a lot better this week. Shooting for a short run tomorrow fingers crossed
