Thanks for joining the weekly run down with me and Kim. Happy Mother’s Day to all of my favorite mother runners out there. It was another super busy but good week around here. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness and life.

Happy Mother’s Day Weekly Run Down

Sunday- 3 mile Peloton tread hills/hiking + lower body strength and core

while I had planned to run today, it was pouring again and everyone bailed. So, I headed to the tread for some more incline walking followed by lower body strength. Will I ever get back to my schedule?

Monday- Peloton walk + upper body strength + core + stretch

Starting the week off with my normal Monday workout feels good. Surprisingly sore from yesterday’s core work. I guess I did something right!

Weekly run down

Tuesday-4.75 ish mile run + walk + stretch

Our favorite place to run every spring is this gorgeous rose garden right off of our bike path. It’s in full bloom right now and we are here for it. Brooks kicked off their new “let’s run there” campaign and this run was the perfect fit.

Later, I attended the Holocaust Memorial Gala. For me, right now, it’s more important than ever to attend this event to remind the world what happens when antisemitism and hate are allowed to go unchecked and unpunished like we are seeing on college campuses today. It’s not too late to act. Please remember, What you do matters. What you say matters. What you teach your children matters.

Weekly run down

Wednesday-Peloton hike + core + upper & lower body strength

After a sleep in, it felt good to sweat it out and lift some heavy weights.

I had my second week of my FBI CITIZEN ACADEMY class where the focus was on Counter Terrorism. I learned a lot about how terrorism is tracked, reported, investigated and prosecuted. No photos allowed 🙂

Thursday-4 ish  mile run + Pilates core + stretch

We evaded the Thunder storms that were forecasted and made it through our run with just a few sprinkles at the end. With the humidity in full force, the rain was welcome. We took a detour for a photo at the playground.

Weekly run down

Friday-Peloton hike + core + lower body strength

I continue to love these tread hikes with peloton and they are perfect for rainy days. Yes, it was yet another rainy day here. That makes 9 in a row.

On the plus side, I achieved my 8K badge for Peloton today and my husband finally returned home after a 9 day work trip.

Weekly run down

Saturday- 3 mile walk and core

Modified rest day over here. We spent some time getting our patio ready for Mother’s Day dinner tomorrow. The whole family is coming over.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of my favorite moms! That’s you! Hope you have a fantastic day. I will be starting mine out with a run and then afternoon family time.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Happy Mother’s Day! Looks like a full week for you. I hope you enjoy your family time! We’re doing the same thing here–i’m spending the afternoon with my boys. I’m really looking forward to it!

I haven’t visited the Holocaust Museum here but it is on our to-do list. We’re watching The Tattooist of Auschwitz on Peacock–have you seen it? It’s really intense and I can only watch one episode at a time. I also read the book–the show is much better.

I do find it really hard to watch those shows but I am glad that people watch them as an important part of history. Hope you have a great day with your family

Happy Mother’s Day! It looks like it will be lovely after last night’s/this morning’s torrential rain!

Glad you were able to go to the Holocaust Memorial Gala — your dress looks great! It’s sad and deeply concerning that its mission and message are more important and necessary today than ever.

Nine days of rain in a row??? Eeeesh… that’s a lot. I guess it’s good for the flowers! That photo of the rose garden is beautiful.
Last year my daughter was able to take “Holocaust” as her history class and she learned a LOT. One day they had a group of actual holocaust survivors come and talk to the class. The kids all dressed up for the occasion (at the urging of the teacher) because, as my daughter put it (in her usual tactful way) “it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity- these people won’t be alive much longer!” I agree- people need to be reminded and the younger generation needs to be properly educated.
    Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!!!!

I agree education is key and I am glad that she was able to learn about it. there were a number of survivors at the gala and their stories are pretty incredible. Happy Mother’s Day to you!

I remember that rose garden! So beautiful.

Well done for persevering with your runs in the rain… at least it’s not sweltering hot!!

Happy happy Mother’s Day! Wow, that’s a lot of rain way to go for still getting out even with the weather. As long as it’s warm I don’t mind running in the rain – unless it’s a thunderstorm — or long race. That rose garden is beautiful!! And love your gala look. What a beautiful striped dress!

      05/12/2024 at 12:45 pm

I will normally go out in the rain too but I’ve had enough at this point

Happy Mother’s Day, Deborah! Hope you’re having a wonderful afternoon with your family.

Love the dress you chose for the Holocaust Memorial Gala. You look great! It’s been rather eye-opening and disgusting to see what’s been allowed to go on on college campuses recently.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/12/2024 at 12:46 pm

I agree it’s quite upsetting but not too late to do something about it.
Hope you are having a great Mother’s Day!

Full week, Deborah! Love your dress for the gala, fun but classic.

The rose garden is a gorgeous place to run. How luck you are to have that so close!

    Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s day! It sounds like you had a good but busy week. How lovely to run in a rose garden!
How does a Peloton hike (do I understand it correctly that it’s on the treadmill?) and how does it differ from a Peloton walk?
Hope you’ve had a good afternoon with your family!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/13/2024 at 8:07 am

so you do the hikes on a tread and the instructor will guide you to change your incline. Most classes stay between 8-12% incline great workout
